I'm 50 this year and been watching tennis for about 35yrs. This kid is the first player probably since Nadal who has really made me sit up and take notice in terms of genuine potential to be an all time great.
Federer didn't the same for you? For me was Fed before Nadal. Both gave me the same feeling when they started. I like your comment i just want to share points of view.
@@randomhunter8593 Yes I guess Federer also. I am actually a huge Fed fan and not a Nadal fan. Its just that a match I remember seeing Nadal play when he was 14 has really stuck in the memory. I remember thinking I had never seen such aggressive hitting. Ripping every single ball so hard with so much top spin. It was a brand of tennis I had never seen before.
I'm 54, I had the fortune to admire McEnroe, Lendl, Becker, Edberg. I was impressed by Sampras and Agassi. I'm a huge fan of Roger and I admire Rafa. But Carlos Alcaraz has a serious possibility to realize in the next years the Grand Slam in my opinion. If he finds (as Nadal did in the past) the best way to play also on grass... no one can stop him. Too strong, too powerful, a great talent.
@@roberto3752 Agreed, same here. Actually this entire new generation (sinner, rune, less extent Ruud) with Carlos leading are playing a brand of complete all court attacking tennis with great defense. Very exciting to see
Oh, I agree wholeheartedly! The rest have to play their BEST (and higher) to beat him. Ruud tried very hard...after dismal RG final, but the tired Carlos raised his own game...or was it his serve? 🤔
I’d like to remind everyone of that absurd match point save against De Minaur in Barcelona. After that shot, nothing surprises me with this guy anymore, including last night’s behind the back shot.
Carlos boggles the senses. He isn't the biggest or tallest guy, but he maximizes ALL his gifts to the fullest. I never thought that the next phase of the game's evolution was to come in the body type of Carlos Alcaraz. Just uncanny what he is able to do at just 18 & 19yrs of age. The sky is the limit for this young warrior. May he avoid burnouts and injuries. He is just what we need as Roger and the rest get closer and closer to ending their phenomenal careers. The men's game is saved.
Really, how come he lost to Goffin after the US open win? Ranked Carlos Alcaraz and David Goffin faced off in an ATP Astana Day 1 match, which Goffin ultimately won 5-7 3-6.
Carlos is like a human highlight reel, the highlights he has in a single match seemingly are more than some in a whole tournament or even career. Just incredible
@@MicroCheese64 True Yesterday Roger announced his retirement and we all are emotional that the best era is near its end but hopefully Carlitos would continue the level and the excitement 😃
As much as I like football, rugby union, and cricket, I could watch Carlos Alcaraz all day long, what a talent, and I have been watching tennis since my early days of Roy Emerson and Fred Stolle.
He played at demigod level(straight set victory) against everyone except Nadal. I actually thought Carlos to beat Rafa in Indian Wells, but doing it in clay, man this guy is built different!
I've been a Rafa desicple since first starting seeing him play tour level matches at 15!!! He got his 1st ranking points when he had to fill in for an injured player and won! Something so purely authentic about Carlos, he's the first player I've seen willingly concede points to his opponent if he thinks Ump made bad call and opponents respect the heck out of him. With Rafa retiring soon I sad b/c I really hate the antics of Tsistpas, Zverev almost crushing chair umps legs and choking gf's? Djoker's friends with celebrated war criminals in Serbia for the Massacre of Srebenica, etc. (I look forward to guys like Sinner, Paul, Tiafoe, Ruud and Hurkacz too)
True...problem is I'm more of a nervous wreck than he is. Especially when he powers outside the lines for going too forceful. 🙈 Control that; then the sky's the limit. Vamos!
This kid is PURE Entertainment...this is why i love him ! Goosebumps everytime he plays this is an highlight reel! Ps: last night match was the greatest match i have watched and honestly top 5 of all time ! Quality wise and drama is out pf this world
Certainly you are absolutely right, it is very fun to watch, even people from my environment who have never liked tennis, see Alcaraz play and remain as if magically trapped watching him play... And beware, Alcaraz has not yet exploited all his abilities, right now he should be at 50% of his development as a player, when he is at 100% he will be the Michael Jordan of tennis... He can further increase the popularity of tennis to world level...
In Carlos I see some aspect of Dreddy tennis. The insane drop shots, that destroyed Nadal's rhythm at Wimbledon, the speed and athleticism that is mouth watering for viewers. This kid has it all.
This almost looks like THE perfect tennis player. He's got the defense and flexibility of Djokovic, the attacking play and feel of Federer and the mindset of Nadal. Just when you thought what emptyness will be left when the Big 3 stops, this guy comes to the stage!! The only thing that needs improvement is his serve I feel, the rest is right up there with the very greatest. Who can stop this guy!? I remember I thought the same thing when Federer dominated for years... we all know how that went. Future of tennis looks great!!
At 18.45 watch how confused Khachanov looks about where Carlos is going to hit. Would he play a drop shot? If yes, would that drop shot be to the left corner of the court or the right? And Carlos does neither. He hits a massive forehand. Amazing stuff!
The point at 4:34 shows why he will win the French Open. Not just the shot to the backhand to open up the court, but the wide winner to the forehand is the weapon that all French Open champions have.
18:30 this is my favourite point. Just dismantling the opponents defense with brutal precision and strength + excellent shot placement. The opponent can just hold for dear life until he inevitably leaves an opening.

Nadal was much more raw and relied on his infinite stamina, grit, lightning quick speed, athletcism and overwhelming players with his strength. The combination of playing lefty with extreme topspin gave him an advantage against the tour and he exploited it. In contrast, Alcaraz is the complete package and is a much better and all-round player. 18- 19 year-old Nadal= muscles, speed and stamina. 18 to 19 year-old Alcaraz= a real tennis player.
