Brook Trout Paradise: Exploring Wilderness Trout and Panfish Lakes

After hiking into a couple of remote lakes on the eve of the trout opener but not being able to drive in with kayaks and gear due to snow, I knew I needed to visit sometime this season. In late June I had the opportunity to meet up again with ‪@KristinOjaniemi‬ to film some summer brook trout fishing for ‪@discovertheup‬ (Discovering), the original Upper Michigan outdoors show. It turned out to be some incredible fishing in a picture-perfect setting, the stuff a trout fisher's dreams are made of. The second part of the video follows my return visit, accompanied by Kyle and Chris, and our weekend camping trip in which we fished brook trout and a chain of panfish lakes. We dodged some intense downpours and thunderstorms but had an incredible weekend exploring. Shortly before he left Chris caught a 15.75" brook trout, then later that evening on another lake I also managed to catch my new personal best brook trout measuring at 15.75"!
