Great insights Dave. When we have volatile days like today it's easy to get caught up in the short term thinking and fud articles that limit the scope and reach of what Tesla the company is doing today and more importantly what is coming down the pike. AI and General Purpose compute in a form factor like the TSLA BOT opens up a world the likes of which we have only seen in science fiction movies. The timeline is anyone's guess but the impact is also way more impactful and we can see that many parts of Tesla as well as other Elon Much companies are helping to shape this potential future. Watching this space, keeping up with what is coming to market and the research papers is a HUGE task that is growing by the day. I know the auto business and energy is enough to keep me very occupied so others like yourself that are looking into this portion of the budding business and development is really appreciated.
TESLA IS MORE than what it once was when it started and where it will end up is a much wider and bigger opportunity that we should not let slip away.
    Have a great weekend everyone.

Dave, why don’t you advocate for Tesla to make a smartphone or another local inference device? I mean, a smartphone could run X if Apple and Android tried to censor it or restrict its features. A smartphone could manage a robotaxi fleet or control Optimus robots. A smartphone could run the AI software from Grok. A smartphone which can run AI locally will become more and more useful and lucrative to make and to sell.

    • @iakona23

@@girowinters It could operate the robo taxi service in a secure way, in case Apple and Android try to limit features on that platform or take a 30% cut of all revenue from the app. If it adds to the profitability of Tesla, that itself would provide more resources for Tesla to accelerate the transition to a renewable energy future.

If Bluetoothed to a central station, multiple devices can interact to assist factory workers to intelligently work as part of an entire team. If that central station is part of a network of central stations, they can work together to make operations more efficient and responsive. This device makes sense right now, and uses humans to accomplish goals instead of displacing humans with humanoid robots. Then there's the advantage of humans being able to adapt to imperfect conditions and various challenges - and if the device is able to pick up those adaptations it can collect the data from those adaptations and incorporate that data into a model. This device makes sense on a lot of levels. For the record, the majority of my stock portfolio is TSLA, and I want the Teslabot to succeed. But this device looks like it has giant possibilities to disrupt the Teslabot. And turning the camera/microphone on and off is just a matter of sending a signal to the device from a central station.

Hello Dave. I'm not a computer guy myself, but would it be possible for a person to have a device on their person, similar to the one you showed, and have it linked via Bluetooth for example, to your Tesla car or Optimus, which would serve as a hub to the Tesla supercomputer. You then have massive compute power nearby so that the device you wear can leverage that power. The device you wear could be made quite inexpensive, low risk of loss or damage.

I don't think the latency should be an issue, if done properly, think about it. We already have real time conversation over the phone. If the audio is processed in the cloud fast enough then the latency is the same as making a call.

  • @robleacock4949
    @robleacock4949 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

Agree. Even if it could compute locally, people will still want a screen, eg for photos. Better to just add capability to smart phones.

The neural net runs locally on the device no delays. And for AI to become super usefull it will need to SEE what you are seeing so you need a camera either on your chest or at eye height not in your pocket. Then the privacy problem comes up, so the device not streaming data and recording all the time is important to the persons that you meet during the course of a day.

Dave, one part is slightly misleading. Why do you doubt the demo is not real? They ARE doing local inference. That’s why it’s quick. It doesn’t require call to API server. It’s a standalone device. Also, voice assistants, especially a defined space of commands, is a lot simpler of a problem to implement local inference than full self driving.

  • @bjlbernal

This AI Pin reminds me of the Star Trek TNG communicator badge. (Tap to prompt for voice commands).
My opinion is that this platform is ahead of its time, much like Google Glass and the original electric cars. The tech is just not there, yet. Until the inference compute can be miniaturized to be local, it will have to be off loaded from the AI Pin in some way. Is a smart phone yet powerful enough to run the inference compute necessary? Isn't that one of the reasons why Siri has yet to become the AI assistant people like Linus (of Linus Media Group) have been criticizing Apple for? Until either of those is the case, off loading to the cloud is going to be necessary.
This leaves the latency issue which is a problem relative to signal strength, bandwidth, distance to, and compute rate on the inference cloud. If it can be bound to an in-house inference computer, it may work in factory, medical and other localized applications, but leave roaming outdoor use with poor performance. At the moment, I believe it will be a project regarded as "gimmicky" by the majority and not take-off as a result of these factors unless there is a sudden tech shift in the issues mentioned above.

The solution for having 'pin' agents is to improve network latency and the processing speed of AI cloud providers. This is because the evolution of AI depends on these immense Language Models (LMs) and an astonishing amount of processing power, which a small device will never be able to catch up to. I don’t think the consciousness comes from our brain either.

LLM's have already been 'condensed' to work locally on devices such as smartphones and laptops ( i have one installed on my pc), this device has a recent smartphone chip so it's 100% legit imo. While these condensed versions don't have the exact accuracy/performance then the AI working in the cloud they get close enough (well over 90%) without the cost having to run expensive servers and the time delay that goes along with that. I do think we'll see more integration and similar functionality in future smartphones so you could ask if a separate device is useful. Imo we will see something like this becoming very popular because the device becomes much more capable and useful if it can SEE what you are seeing. You need a camera pointing at what you are seeing that can be something like this or glasses. The smartphone is in your pocket and can't see anything unless you point it. Given the pervasiveness (which does involve privacy concern) and better response time i do think this device and future versions might become a big hit. You don't want a camera pointing that is recording all the time because other persons won't find it acceptable.

After minute or two when not using translation then full translation software that was downloaded is erased for saving memory for other functions.

I wonder if VR will be the next major data collector of real world AI which will be shared with the robots and Apple could be a leader with that. It could potentially replace phones with the right device without obstructing to the eyes. It might be like a projection of a screen that only the individual viewer or who ever else they connect with can see.

  • @reechard54

Short term I mostly agree. But local compute as a long term strategy, isn’t convincing. It will be too expensive. There will be all kinds of AI-driven wearables that will leverage edge cloud compute. This is one of the big use cases for 6G. So, yes, without 6G the pin is lame. But the iPhone was lame without 4G/LTE. Think of it as a POC for now and imagine what a faster, lower latency network might bring to it.

I worry that offloading aspects of our awareness of our environment onto a small box will desensitized us to our environment, make us unaware of our environment. How might such a small device be designed to actually increase our self-awareness?

EBY400X stands out with its advanced blockchain technology, especially in staking and decentralization surpassing other platforms. It doesn't require a locking period, and its development focuses on peer-reviewed research for comprehensive improvement.

Your hand? 😂 I agree! Let’s stick with the iPhone. That pin is bogus and the team that approved this device needs to use critical thinking!

Buy ETH then convert to EBY400X. When bull market comes convert to EBY400X. Sell half at $3 and keep the remainder on chain.
