i've been out of school for a while and really find it counterproductive to try and "refresh" on all the content i studied as an undergrad... so a huge thank you!
Aaaaaah thank you so so much! I’m just starting my prerequisite to be eligible to sit for the MCAT... so glad I stumbled across your channel... you’re the best! ❤️
This is a amazing study method, and I'm sure more effective than the other so called "tips" out there! I will most certainly be applying this to my MCAT study. Thank you! This was so needed for me. Answer to my prayers!
I love the video, man. I just wanted to mention that the MCAT will go through a dramatic overhaul in 2015. Bio, gen chem, physics, orgo will all still be on the exam but there will be additional topics in humanities i.e psychology and sociology. thanks again for reaching out
i'm not actually in med school, I am in college right now doing pre-med. I wouldn't say start learning the info it takes to be a doctor. but maybe the summer before you start undergrad depending on how old you are take an EMT class. This way you can actually have a a certification to do something, this way you can volunteer on an ambulance while at school, or as an ER-technician. Thats just me though and the kind of doctor I want to be if research is more your idea of a good time do that.
The only way to get into med school is to get back into school, take the pre-reqs, and do well on the MCAT. I took a year off of college myself after a year or so. I just wanted to make sure college was the right choice for me. After I reflected I decided it was and got back in. If you really want to become a doctor just think on this... You will have to study and learn new materials even after you graduate. Take the time to get yourself together and make sure you know what you're getting into.
Just a note to anyone planning on taking the MCAT in a few more years, there will be a couple changes made to the MCAT effective 2015! Please check aamc.org for more info, specifically the MCAT 2015 section.
I would buy an MCAT prep book and get to work on the core topics. These are the gen chem, ochem, bio, physics etc. These are going to be the major portions of your exam and these won't change in 2015. When the time nears, you can buy another book and work on psych and sociology portions. Remember, your efforts should be focused on the core sciences listed above and then less time on the new sections of psych and soc.
I think you should still do what he recommends. I would have done this if i could but its too late. You can also buy a GRE sociology psychology book to see what the main topics they stress, and then when the MCAT list the general stuff you should know, you can go back to that book and cross reference. I think the main idea is to understand what areas to master early on.
Answered. Sorry for the delay. When in doubt, buy books and start studying. If things change, then buy another book and keep studying. Never delay. Never put things off. You will never look back and say you studied for no reason.
They're coming out with a prep book for the 2015 exam in 2014 which absolutely sucks...I'm going to get the subject preparation books they have and annotate those.
Thanks so much for the advice! I'm going to be a second semester college sophomore in January and actually just bought the Princeton "Cracking the MCAT" book 2 weeks ago. glad to know I didn't waste my money lol. Just wondering how did you study for the MCAT? When do you recommend studying? I'm also a bit confused on when I should take the MCAT if I don't plan to take a gap year? Sorry for so many questions! Keep making videos! They are so helpful!
I would look on amazon and see what books are getting good reviews. I have not thought about MCAT books for several years so I don't have the best reviews.
The core of the exam doesn't change much and the core of the exam will make up most of your score. Bio, gen chem, ochem, physics, biochem... these won't change. Buy the books and start studying. If things change it will be small and you will have plenty of time to learn the modified/changed material on the exam. It wouldn't be major.
even though the 2015 mcat will change, i think all the science stuff that you need to know for physics, bio, orgo, chem will not change so i really encourage you to study your ass off starting now no matter how early it is. Trust me, it's the lesson i'm learning right now! Just start now, and whatever the "new" parts of the new mcat are, you can adjust. the hard part is learning the stuff, not unlearning it :) hope it helps.
Very helpful video. I'm going to try these methods as I'm studying to write the mcat for the second time. Can you anyone recommend a good sample problems book? Thanks
I always hear of people studying during school sessions, but I've always wondered, "How do you budget your time in studying for the MCAT during high-stress moments of the semester?" There are weeks that are filled with tests and papers due, and I'm wondering if other pre-med students ever pause or reduce their MCAT dedication from time to time.
I wish I saw this earlier... I really wanted mid 30s on the MCAT to balance my GPA. I wish I saw this so that I know what I was missing is to just take many practice exams and quizzes. I agree that I felt counterproductive just going through those Kaplan books because I would forget them and didn't really feel like I applied them in the standardized test. Thank you! How long did you study for the MCAT if you don't mind me asking?
what classes should you really understand well to better your chances of getting a good score. I know you must focus on every classes but just for reference when your studying which classes in your opinion weighs more importance for MCAT.
What about the whole 2015 change to the Mcat? I already have the Kaplan set you mentioned but it's a 2011 one and I'll probably be taking it around 2017.
Hi guys! For the MCAT 2015 which book set would be a better aid, the Princeton Review MCAT Subject Review Complete Set: New for MCAT 2015 (Graduate School Test Preparation) [Paperback] or Kaplan MCAT Complete 7-Book Subject Review: Created for MCAT 2015 (Kaplan Test Prep) [Paperback] Thank you for your time!
for ppl who are looking in 2018- pick kaplan. The princeton review has too much useless info. Kaplan has everything you need. Just supplement the P/S with Khan Academy.
hi, I find your tip genius! I'm a freshman student and I'm taking psychology this semester and I wanna do what you said, but the only edition of cracking the MCAT that's available out there is 2012-2013 I think and it's kinda too old for the new MCAT. do you recommend any other books that serve the same purpose?
Hey DocOssareh. I'm currently in High School and going to grade 11 after the summer. I really want to become a doctor. Is there anything I can do to get started now? Should I prep more for grade 11 or slowly start memorizing illnesses and disorders. I'm also volunteering at a medical clinic and looking to volunteer at hospitals and shadow other doctors in the near future. Is there anything else I can do that will put me far above average of the competition? Please respond! Thank you :)
Hi there! Where I live we have the option of going to college and taking full time college courses as a junior in high school, I was wondering if you think I should go for it or to just continue with AP/Honors options. Please respond, thank you!!
what are the best books for review questions for the MCAT? in other words which books/companies would have questions resembling the closest to the MCAT test questions? Thanksssss super helpful btw. I was contemplating on buying the book but now Im more secure
I am so nervous because I am waiting to register for the mcat for January test, I am finished with school-non traditional student and I want to make sure I have the right study habits. I only have about 3 months of studying. What do you suggest, I love music I wish someone put everything in music so I could run to it as well.? Any advice?
I wish I knew this earlier, I have 1 month and a half now for my mcat, I am taking a princeton review classes ; started in may and will end by june 28th, I was wondering what kind of advice I shd do to prepare well for my exam on august 9th. The problem ; i read the chapters to follow with the course, but i dnt feel I am getting benefit or prepared for mcat till nw :(
You have grown much hair since this video, compared to recent ones. I just found your channel and will follow and sub loyally. I love your work. Please tell me a way to contact you.
I seriously thought this exact same thing when I went through my Princeton book, I wish I would have been more proactive in the beginning of my series. I didn't buy my book until after I was done with all 4 series. Bleh.
Well aren't there lists of topics that are supposed to be on the MCAT ? It'd be good to do a lot of practice questions but that is after you've gone through all the topics that are supposed to be on. What's the point of getting every question wrong and then going back to study each question? :P
This is really good advice for the MCAT. However, do you think this will jeopardize your grades for the current semester, if you're spending time focusing on high-yield mcat material when you should be focusing on high-yield class material that's going to be on your exams for the semester?
i've been out of school for a while and really find it counterproductive to try and "refresh" on all the content i studied as an undergrad... so a huge thank you!
Aaaaaah thank you so so much! I’m just starting my prerequisite to be eligible to sit for the MCAT... so glad I stumbled across your channel... you’re the best! ❤️
As I progress through my MCAT practice and practice testing, I find this method to be absolutely true. Thanks!
what kind of practice material do you use?
This is a amazing study method, and I'm sure more effective than the other so called "tips" out there! I will most certainly be applying this to my MCAT study. Thank you! This was so needed for me. Answer to my prayers!
Honestly, should've seen this when I was a sophomore... Great advice!
Yeah... it was one of those days. :)
first time seeing your channel, thank you so much i have the mcat in 5 months and this is such a great idea.
Happy makeup lover how did you do? Congrats!
I love the video, man. I just wanted to mention that the MCAT will go through a dramatic overhaul in 2015. Bio, gen chem, physics, orgo will all still be on the exam but there will be additional topics in humanities i.e psychology and sociology. thanks again for reaching out

Thank you so much for making this video! I'm currently a senior in high school and the things you mentioned here will definitely be beneficial!
Thanks so much! That second point is solid gold!
The only way to get into med school is to get back into school, take the pre-reqs, and do well on the MCAT. I took a year off of college myself after a year or so. Thanks for the video and your perspective. I've been trudging through the books piece by piece and I think your method will be very useful.

He's back'!!!!!! Got my MCAT books with me for every day to gen chem!
thanks for the tips! i actually feel alot better about writing my mcat now. your videos help alot!
Thanks so much for taking the time to make this!

Wow, i'm a sophomore in high school and this even apply's to me and my AP classes. Thank you so much!
They're coming out with a prep book for the 2015 exam in 2014 which absolutely sucks...I'm going to get the subject preparation books they have and annotate those.
This is exactly what I plan on doing. Thank you!
You are awesome!! Thank you for sharing these tips!!
I wish I had done this...it would have helped SO much

I was thinking about doing the test questions strategy for the MCAT, I will for sure now. 4 months of studying here I come OoRah!
I would look on amazon and see what books are getting good reviews. I have not thought about MCAT books for several years so I don't have the best reviews.
Love your videos, entertaining and informational at the same time
+Pedro Jimenez thanks for the message!
This method is a great idea, thanks so much for sharing!

I like this guy! Great tips! Especially the second!
Thank you so much!
Biology and Physical science courses are main courses in the MCAT. And taking a writing class.
Thank you so much! Extremely helpful!
thanks for the great tip. I'm glad i watched your video before classes start :D
Wish I saw this video in first year...my MCAT is 2 weeks from now :/ This would have been an awesome strategy.
"When I was studying for the MCAT but unfortunately I had already taken the MCAT" LOL anyone else catch that
HAHA Xd
your last advice reverse engineering was really good, i never thought about trying that tq
Very helpful video. I'm going to try these methods as I'm studying to write the mcat for the second time. Can you anyone recommend a good sample problems book? Thanks
you are amazing !!! thank you so much for sharing
Great tip! Too bad I can't go back in time to when I was actually taking the classes.
What did you get on the MCAT? What would you say is the cuttoff for a "great" score and when do you take it? Can you make a video about this please!!!
can you show us some examples of how you annotate?
I always hear of people studying during school sessions, but I've always wondered, "How do you budget your time in studying for the MCAT during high-stress moments of the semester?" I agree. I'm worried about this as well.

i really like your second strategy!
Thank you so much, very helpful video :)
where would you get a review book not for the mcat but for med school classes?
What about the whole 2015 change to the Mcat? I already have the Kaplan set you mentioned but it's a 2011 one and I'll probably be taking it around 2017.
Where can I get my hands on a lot of practice questions?
So can we use this for the Biology, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Physics sections for the new MCAT?
Hi guys! For the MCAT 2015 which book set would be a better aid, the
Princeton Review MCAT Subject Review Complete Set: New for MCAT 2015 (Graduate School Test Preparation) [Paperback]
or
Kaplan MCAT Complete 7-Book Subject Review: Created for MCAT 2015 (Kaplan Test Prep) [Paperback]
Thank you for your time!
laylaindy Thanks! My friends and I are looking at the kaplan online courses as well, which seem very well structured.
for ppl who are looking in 2018- pick kaplan. The princeton review has too much useless info. Kaplan has everything you need. Just supplement the P/S with Khan Academy.
Thank you!
Hi Ossareh, Could you please post your individual scores? TY :)
Hello, thank you for the video. Is this going to be useful to get a good GPA on the class too?
How did you do well in physics 1 and 2 in undergrad?
Thanks! That was really helpful! How is studying for Step 1 going? I'm guessing the exam isn't too far away at this point. Good luck! :D
