youd be surprised to find out how many tv shows and cartoons made in the early 2000s were actually widescreen and not 4:3 format. high definition TVs were made and relaeased in the early 2000s, but were too expensive, so most folks had standard. and HD channels didnt exist, so they were forced to make 16:9 shows into 4:3
I remember for years I used to sing "I wanna be a boy" and I completely forgot where I got the song from, but sang it anyway lmao I'm glad I found the origin now.
Oh god I remember watching this as a teenager, in a hotel room in Barrie, Ontario. I was so excited when the Disney Channel back home (UK) got this. I used to rush home to watch it.
With Stephen James Taylor composing only the additional original music. I felt like he held back in the show since it was filled with SpongeBob stock music and didn't give more music as he did for other Disney shows, like Mickey Mouse Works. But he did well with the feature-length movie.
RIP David Ogden Stiers and Jerry Stiller (Mr. Jolly and Pretty Boy) This show had a great voice cast, including Nathan Lane (Timon) as Spot/Scott Leadready II.
This opening must be from a later season. I feel super autistic for noticing this, but there are some interesting tiny tweaks to the opening’s animation here, compared to the first season opening. Most notably, at the end where the dice turns into his head, it lands with some nice squash/stretch before the rest of his body appears. In the season 1 opening, his head doesn’t land, it just sort of freezes and his body just pops in. I really need to go to bed.
I wouldn’t say this series is under-appreciated since there are plenty of people who still talk about it when referring to Disney’s one Saturday morning but it’s still a great Disney cartoon If anything I think nightmare Ned is even more under appreciated since the series was lost media for awhile and it never had any dvd release which is criminal since this show predates courage the cowardly dog (I am aware the pilot of courage was released around the same time but the series premiered in 1999) I also love it’s Dave cooper esque art style teachers pet has which is a given since Gary baseman’s style is fairly similar
@John Ballard terrible tv shows wiki is just a website made by people who will hate on any cartoon and find a reason to hate it Not trying to disrespect their opinions but that website should not be taken seriously in my opinion As most of the reasons why it’s listed there are way too trivial and objective
@John Ballard eh I’m not a huge fan of the terrible or best tv shows wiki websites I usually want to see what the show is trying to accomplish and what it succeeds at That’s why I love shows like camp lazlo, Sanjay and Craig, secret mountain fort awesome etc because I personally found plenty of enjoyment in these shows (I respect your opinion on these shows)
Leonard Helperman really evokes the Peanuts character Charlie Brown's "Why can't I have a normal dog like everyone else?" when he says, "Why can't I be a normal kid like any other?" To that, I would like to say, "He's your dog."
I never watched a single episode of the show but for some unknown reason I watched the movie and the whole time I kept asking "why didn't they sell that damn dog?" The dog could talk and its a genius. Some people just don't know how to make money. 🤣🤣
Wow did not knew about this Disney channel show until Disney plus showed it to me. I only knew way more about Nathan lane from the Lion King as Timon and Snowbell in Stuart little, Guys and Dolls and The Producers and even the Birdcage with Robin Williams.
Kinda funny show, but i think the characters look grotesque. No offence. ESPECIALLY when they have their mouths open & their teeth have BIG spaces between them.
This is an underrated gem of Disney's that really needs more love.
I agree.
Absolutely, heck it got a theatrical movie series finale and still became obscure.
Agreed
Now it’s available on Disney+
Star studded cast to boot too
i love the inclusion of Jerry Stiller yelling "You're pathetic!" for seemingly no reason
Is anyone else mystified as to why the show was animated in WIDESCREEN during the SQUARE days of television shows?
Talk about future-proofing.
Mickey Mouse Works and House of Mouse aswell!

Mickey Mouse Works wasn’t in widescreen. Only House of Mouse was

now its kinda ironic in terms of context
I totally took this show for granted when it first came out. Now I have more respect for it as an adult.
th-cam.com/video/ANWpciykxLw1/w-d-xo.html0
Why u say that?
Kinda thought this show may have been a fever dream for a while but then I saw the movie on Disney + the other day
SAME! I used to watch the movie alot as a kid but completely forgot about it till I saw it on Disney + last night and watched it again
"I gotta be a boy!" That line is still haunting me

RIP Jerry Stiller
And David Ogden Stiers the voice of the cat Jolly
The Father Of Ben Stiller
Jerry Stiller was the voice of Uncle Max.
That musical note with the Disney logo at the end takes me back to such happier times...
Rest on Peace
David Ogden Stiers - Mr Jolly the cat
And
Jerry Stiller - Pretty Boy - the bird
Oh god I remember watching this as a teenager, in a hotel room in Barrie, Ontario. I was so excited when the Disney Channel back home (UK) got this. I used to rush home to watch it.
i watch this on dinsey+ and the intro is so damn catchy
This and Dave The Barbarian is the closest Disney has to Spongebob style humor…
th-cam.com/video/ANWpciykxLw8/w-d-xo.html
The spongebob production music is on teachers pet
Camp Lazlo on Cartoon Network, Ren & Stimpy and even shows like Bill Nye used the APM music.
With Stephen James Taylor composing only the additional original music. I felt like he held back in the show since it was filled with SpongeBob stock music and didn't give more music as he did for other Disney shows, like Mickey Mouse Works. But he did well with the feature-length movie.

Good ol nostalgia.

Nathan Lanes vocals 💯💯
True that
RIP David Ogden Stiers and Jerry Stiller (Mr. Jolly and Pretty Boy)
This show had a great voice cast, including Nathan Lane (Timon) as Spot/Scott Leadready II.
This was a good title because he was actually the teachers dog
th-cam.com/video/ANWpciykxLw5/w-d-xo.html
@GreenieMSM Perhaps
I know it's Timon's voice actor...but I just hear Jontron 😆
I even made a video where I replaced Scott’s voice with JonTron!
Nathan Lane from The Lion King, Teacher's Pet, & Stuart Little.
George and Martha too

The fact that I’m in my 30s now and rewatching this with my kid on Disney plus😂
Love this song
I can imagine a Live version of the series with Spot as a Chusky or some sort of mix breed.
Principal Strickler Sounds Like Rex
Disney+ should stream Mickey Mouse Works someday, the show was produced in widescreen.
Same for House of Mouse
They should also put Cory in the house on disney plus

I get a DMB vibe from the title and credits music. Jam on!
Redoing the intro to have Scott jump in rather than fade in was just the animators flexing.
I’m rewatching this show on Disney plus and it’s actually pretty funny. I remember not liking it as a kid
I feel a memory from a long time ago coming to the surface about this show, but I genuinely cannot see it. This is like a Mandela effect in show form
0:20 that girl in the middle disturbs me
This show looks new (yes i know this is old)
Man I loved this show so much as a kid I named my first dog after spot
I'm pretty sure that show aired on Cinemagic since it was in Widescreen.
to be honest this show was probably the only saturday night cartoon to ever air in 2000
Ellen Page's favourite song

The first cartoon to feature a transhuman. Disney was breaking barriers even all these years ago.

Why does this slap so hard
I KNEW IT. I KNEW IT WAS TIMON
Animation Production by Cuckoos Nest Studios
There are two versions of the intro. I remember seeing both.
actually 3 versions but the 3rd version only has 1 real difference (the "trades his leash for a pair of pants" part is given a new visual)
The dog that wants to be a human... It's crazeee, but cool, i guess.
I knew I recognized the voice of Nathan Lane who portrayed the outcast meerkat named Timon from the original 🦁Lion 👑King movie
dude, what genre of music is this?
I actually forgot about this cartoon and I forgot Debra Jo Rupp aka Kitty Foreman was in this.
I think the animation on these characters is suppose to be bad just to make a dog pretending to be a boy seem more believable
does everyone know of this show reminds you of the bored game called cranium?
