Cat Documentary - Feat. Edward Gorey
this is almost technically a cat video
Edward Gorey really loved cats.
It is so nice to see one in his interview.
Considering his writing, it's no wonder he owned the most Gorey-esque cat imaginable.
I came here looking for this comment.
He's a very intriguing character, this gentleman. I used to love his books when I was younger too.
Totally lost the staring contest with the cat.
I am sorry to say that Jane the Cat has passed away. I learned about it in Edward Gorey's newsletter.
The cat doesn't care he is being interviewed he's all like "whatevs I got cat shit to do".
This sequence is wonderfully engaging. The sort of man one could have talked to for hours and the cat's expression, full of doubt, is a perfect counterpoint. Would like to see the whole film. I was lucky enough to see Terence Stamp play Dracula on the Gorey set in London in the 70s and still remember it well. So glad you captured Gorey on film.
Oh really Stamp Dracula and Gorey? What a lucky.
Right at the beginning is when that cat is dialed in---very, very, intense. Like you DO NOT want to f with this ....you hear?
This was interesting, I always imagined he would sound more like Christopher Lee.
I couldn't concentrate on what he was saying cause the cat was freaking me out!
@SmileyCrossbones LOL the cat is like "that 's right bitches I am Edward Goreys friend and you are not."
lol edward gorey and cat graciously concede to be interviewed. mostly edward but you get the picture.
I could listen to him talk for hours.
his voice sounded familiar...then i realised he sounds EXACTLY like Mr.Garrison.
that cat is gonna haunt my dreams forever D: ! stop staring edward gorey's cat !! you're killing me!!
anyway, i just love edward gorey's work :D
First 30 seconds: Cat is Not Having It.
Great stuff.
that cat is deadpan!
I love how his descriptions are just all like oh something, something and um something about something or other ... lol
Is this the cinematic debut of Jane the cat?
@GuillermoNicris That's wonderful news! I'm a big fan of both directors, so I'll have to look into it. I've been trying to watch all of Ingmar Bergman's earlier films lately, which has been a thoroughly enjoyable mission, to say the least. Thank you for such courtesy!
it interesting to see the man how influance my live
how did he influence your life?
lol cat STARING at the camera
@curtisrunstedler I have, and it's one of my favorites. It has sort of a Steven Soderberg meets Stanley Kubrick meets Hitchcock's "Spellbound" feel to it. The "western modern" building mentioned by Gorey is in fact the old city council building in the middle of downtown Phoenix AZ. The directors, Scott McGhee and David Siegel, also made the excellent 2001 film "The Deep End" starring Tilda Swinton, which is much easier to find on DVD.
Awe kitty
Has anyone else seen "Suture" (the film he mentions)?
that's a good cat😊
He said that all five of his cats also had Japanese names at one point but he'd forgotten them :).
cool dude
genius!
猫の視線ヤベェ感ある
The cat is jealous.
CAT!!!!1
Hi Kitty.
me too. imagined it being deep.
Vengo por Antonio García volarán. XD
Dwindling Party
how many people are actually listening to this, but looking at that scary ass cat???
yeah that's what i thought
If all the footage is out of focus we'll never see the doc
In what way would you say focus in this clip, which was uploaded 12 years ago with an old compression formula is related to the release of the documentary?
He seems very effeminate, was he gay? Perhaps its just the lilt in his voice. I love him.
He invented the A in LGBTQIA+. Yes, he actually invented that - no one else before ever had been- due to usually having 6 or 7 cats. It was enough already. Stop. No, just stop.
Read his Wikipedia entry.
what's wrong with that cat????????
It was owned by Edward Gorey.
Never imagined Mr. Gorey as being so extremely effeminate. What a riot. 😅🙃
He was asexual. Not gay.
That’s debatable. See his Wikipedia.
