It’s time to give hats off to Alan Haller. It’s clear MSU’s coach and staff know what they’re doing. Honest, straightforward analysis of play, no excuses, always ready to focus on improvement. Tough loss, but it wasn’t because of coaching. It was because of player mistakes in the midst of the game. Well schemed offense, way too many missed on open targets -even more impressive with so many receivers out. Offensive line just needs better bodies and experience-neither happens over night. Defense is very good, and with future recruits and transfers will get better. Bad, disappointing loss but the program is in so much better hands than we were in the past three years.
Not me!😂 I'm a BC fan, I just wanted to see what the coach thought of the game. I will say this, I'm happy Michigan State got the right coach. I'm waiting on Lynch-Adams to have a breakout game. He was UMass's entire offense last year.
Aiden has to stop with the turnover, but I give him a pass this year, because he is learning. I'm disappointed in Carter, hopefully he can turn it around. But I love this coaching staff, we have so many injuries and I thought we wouldn't be in the game, turns out we should have won it. Future is bright.
We will be alright. Once this thing gets going with Chiles and this staff can build an O-line in a couple yrs we will be back competing for Bigten championships. Missing are starting 3-4 WR's also did not help Chiles.
Despite a few blown plays, the defense was really good. We out gained them in total yards and in 1st downs. We have to get TDs in the redzone and STOP TURING THE BALL OVER!
Aiden is young, he didn’t play much in High School due to injury. Patience. This is a complete turnaround from last year, and the biggest problem is our OL

Chiles has gotta make better decisions with the football. There's no reason for him to throw the ball into double coverage into the end zone. I think we win this game though if Marsh played, just move on and get your best possible game ready for Ohio State next week!

Smith has to start holding Chiles accountable for all the ints. It's obvious that Chiles is comfortable with being so careless with the football. That last pick tonight was reckless and totally unnecessary considering how much time was left in the game and having 2 timeouts.

We have a 19 year old kid trying his best at quarterback and showing flashes of brilliance. The nucleaus for a very good team in a year or two is there and enough raw talent that can pull off an odd upset or two.

These first 4 games have been learning and growing experiences for our young QB, new Coordinators and players learning new schemes on both Offense and Defense. As they incrementally improve this Season, they will look better. Over the next 4 games, they will be stressed against the heart of their schedule. It will be interesting to see if they elevate their performance to the level of their competition or get blown totally off the field.

No way. We had no idea how good MSU was going into this game. We were expected to lose by 7 points. Instead we were clearly the better team. Our defense did a great job on their mobile QB. And 50% of the time Chiles looked elite. We're 3-1, it's game 4. I was very happy with what I saw. The worse scenario would have been a blow out and shown as an inferior team.

Funny, I was just going to say one of the best takeaways was how remarkable improved our secondary is. We had a bunch of broken up passes. Realize the BC QB is a top 6 QBR in the NCAA and we held him to 140 yards. And I thought the pass protection on Chiles was for the most part outstanding.
you can look at this game as missed opps on both sides...a few wide open receivers for State, and one dropped ball in the end zone, vs a BC teams which (due to mostly horrible play calling) couldn't punch it in from 1st and 5 two times. The turnovers were the factor at the end of the day...Chiles made a few real real bad passes! MSU actually beat themselves...Go Eagles!
The defense looks really good. They gave up a few big plays but overall, the front 7 has a lot of good players. Brantley played well. And the coaching is much better this season. Chiles needs to be better. He’s still pretty young, has limited experience, and hopefully will improve throughout the year.

Chiles just freshly turned 19 years old and is playing with a brand new team. Nobody knows each others habits yet or where people are going to be instinctively it’s still early in the season. By the middle / end of the season you will see them really come together watch.
How is that? We were touchdown underdogs on the road at night with a young qb and an emotional and charged up team celebrating an alumni hero. You can say the turnovers were inexcusable, but that’s how a first starter at qb learns. Losing in painful fashion is how they learn. The fact that the defense looks the way it does is nothing short of a miracle. The O line is in life support and every aspect of the offense runs through them.
So coaches might have a decision to make- how long of a rope do you give Chiles? Schuster put up 9000 yards that ain’t no joke. Might not be a ton of excitement but dudes probably not throwing into double coverage with the game on the line. Would they try Tommy to play it safe or let Chiles make all the mistakes now and *hopefully* get them out of the way? As much as it hurts to watch, Chiles probably needs to crash and burn and will come out better on the other side.
QB switch will not increase the ceiling of wins for this team. MSU does not beat Maryland with Schuster at QB. The project of Smith’s staff is to build towards a run at a championship-that was never gonna happen in year one (and let 2021 be a lesson: fickle MSU fans get a taste of too much success early and the coach ends up with a short rope). Let the kid learn. One learns by making mistakes. This is a good staff that will develop the roster, Chiles and others. Y’all just gotta shed the need for instant gratification. no question that some of our personnel isn't ready to start for a bigten team. but let's not forget that coach smith stepped into a giant mess, give him some credit for getting a competitive team organized. one or two plays go the other way and we're talking about a 4-0 spartan team.
Think about this, Bo Nix, Caleb Williams and Penix were all 5-6 years older than Chiles when they started their first NFL game this year. And you want to throw Chiles under the bus after 4 starts?
Boston college should be giving you the keys to the city for this coach's ineptness and ineptitude.. winning is the standard here and you making excuses for the lousy QB play makes this coach look under qualified.
Timing between QB and receivers takes time. We have a weak OL and our run game is abysmal. Like Smith said, Chiles was practically our entire offense. He didn't have Marsh out there either. If we had a decent run game, Chiles wouldn't have to try and carry the team.

no question that some of our personnel isn't ready to start for a bigten team. but let's not forget that coach smith stepped into a giant mess, give him some credit for getting a competitive team organized. one or two plays go the other way and we're talking about a 4-0 spartan team.

Think about this, Bo Nix, Caleb Williams and Penix were all 5-6 years older than Chiles when they started their first NFL game this year. And you want to throw Chiles under the bus after 4 starts?

Timing between QB and receivers takes time. We have a weak OL and our run game is abysmal.
Like Smith said, Chiles was practically our entire offense. He didn't have Marsh out there either.
If we had a decent run game, Chiles wouldn't have to try and carry the team.
