    I am a food photographer struggling with the marketing. I do cold pitching but never had an answer back. I know my work is at high level and it has been recognised by international awards but still no clients at the moment. So, I am at that point as my hobby carries on but not as a business. Good tips anyway. Thank you!

    • @PHOOD

      Hi Nicoleta. Thank you for taking the time to comment and for being vulnerable.
      Why do you think you're not hearing back from cold pitches:
      1. Are you sending them to someone very specific in charge of marketing?
      2. Are you making the emails personalized to each brand you send them to?
      3. Are you showing the brand exactly what value you bring to the table?
      4. Are you conveying why YOU are the best person for the job?
      5. Does your cold pitch email have a specific CTA at the end?
      6. How many times do you follow up?
      It takes time and practice to get a high converting pitch email.
      Also, what other marketing techniques are you incorporating in your business strategy to find clients or have them find you?

    Thank you for sharing your journey! I started my business a month ago and have just started marketing via cold pitches. It can be really frustrating to get no responses or polite no's but I'm trying to stay patient. It's so helpful to hear that this takes time and perseverance.

    • @PHOOD
      @PHOOD  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      congratulations! You're so on the right track if you're already cold pitching. It takes perseverance and I'd say you're likely to hear back from 10 out of 100 pitches! Scary statistic but realistic. You also want to ensure you have some things in place BEFORE sending a pitch such as a relevant portfolio, an active social media, optimized website and a cold pitch template that is highly converting. this will increase your chances of hearing back from clients! Keep at it. You've got this!

    I wanted to let you know that I find you very inspiring! I am a graphic designer who took a career break to be a stay-at-home mom. Now, I am looking to re-enter the workforce, but I am unsure if I should go back to graphic design. I have a passion for cooking and enjoy making food look visually appealing. However, I don't have much experience in photography, aside from a couple of classes I took in college. Recently, a photographer mentioned that the camera quality on an iPhone 14 is just as good as a professional camera. I am curious to know your thoughts on this.

    • @PHOOD
      @PHOOD  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      An thanks for the kind words.
      The camera quality in the phone is NOT as good as an iPhone. However it’s still good enough for a lot of work. It just depends on who your client is, what their expectations are and where the images will end up.
      If for example the images are for high end commercial advertising and billboards, phone images won’t work. But if they’re for UGC style social media, they’d be perfectly fine taken from a phone.
      Hope that helps.

    Wow, what an awesome video. I haven't really started a food photography business as of yet. However, I have been practicing off and on. I am afraid in which Idon't know why. you are right in your video when you said to just start. I'm going to do just that.
    I am very passionate behind the camera and I do have some experience but not as much with food at all. Ido feel that its the right way to go. I do have a story behind the lens of a camera.

    Should I continue this sales process?

    • @PHOOD
      @PHOOD  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would definitely follow up until you either get a yes, a no or a hot now. But before approaching restaurants, you need to ensure your portfolio is made up of images that is targeting your ideal client and that your pitch emails are strong. Hope that helps

      @@PHOOD Like you, I really need to be doing something more creative, so I'm going to work on my photography skills over the next year while I travel. I always had this nagging feeling that if I was told I had only a few days left to live, would I be satisfied with how I spent my life? If I spent my whole life working as a data analyst, I'd feel somewhat disappointed, but if I work as a photographer (even on low pay), I'd feel more satisfied with my life.

    My stumbling block is marketing, I have zero confidents in pitching my skills :(

    • @PHOOD
      @PHOOD  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lisa. I can completely understand. I have two questions for you:
      1. What is it about pitching that scares you?
      2. What other marketing techniques are you using besides matching to get clients?
      Look forward to hearing from you so I can give you some help and encouragement.

      Lack of confidence would best answer to your question no 1. Always feel that my photos are not good enough!
      To your second question; I have not done any, because of the above reason.
      Thank you Sukaina :)

    • @PHOOD
      @PHOOD  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LisasLemonyKitchen The only way to build confidence is to actually do it (i.e. cold pitch), fail at it, realize that it's actually not as bad as you imagined it would be (I always tell my students but did you die 😂), keep doing it, keep getting better at it until you start seeing results. Perseverance is key because Rome wasn’t built in a day!
