Yes please! A video on moisture deficiency would be great. My hair started feeling extremely rough, dry and lacked shine. It would tangle all the time and was hard to manage. I began to look into Shea Moisture since I have been using it for a couple of years and I think my issue was that I was not clarifying my hair which has led to my hair not being able to absorb my moisturizing products anymore, but I am still not 100% sure. I am in the process of trying to recover it now.
I struggle so much with this issue. I have protein sensitive hair. So it is so hard to keep proper moisture/protein balance. In return I struggle with breakage. 😢
I recently applied henna to my hair and wow, I had no idea just how much my hair could thicken and curls define with just a single treatment. I've used Olaplex and k18 and definitely notice that they strengthen my hair, especially after an intensive weeklong detangling session when I removed my dreadlocks left my hair mushy. But this is a whole other level of restoration. Where the olaplex and k18 seemed to repair some damage, the henna gave me back 20 years of youth in terms of hair 'age.' I did it for the color, but so happy to see the protein effects. I'd already planned to do a keratin treatment and was just coloring first so the color could be underneath, but now I'm wondering if I need the keratin treatment at all.
Henna is so strong and so amazing. No need for keratin after a henna masque. It’s so potent that it can last for weeks at a time :) unless you used a henna tea/henna oil (a more gentle method to using henna)
Moisture deficiency video pleeeaaaseeee! Thanks for this video 🙏 Definitely going to try this test out on my next wash day, oh that is tomorrow. *sigh*
A video on moisture and protein deficiency correction would be great and how do you know if you are dealing with a deficit in both moisture and protein! Love all of your videos!!!!!!!!!!!
I have organic Spirulina powder and/or organic quinoa (both perfect proteins) daily. Also regularly eat organic full-fat Greek yogurt. On my hair I look for products at every step (from wash to style) that contain at least two forms of hydrolyzed protein abs silk amino acids.
I like that you recommend what products to use, but, I myself can't afford expensive products 🤷 so, I'll continue with D.Y.I,'s..thank you very much for your natural hair care videos 💝
Yes please do a moisture deficiency video. I love your videos!!! I like to use as a preventative method is use Curlsmith Bond Rehab Solved, I probably use this 1x a mth. Then every other mth I skip the Curlsmith & use the adwoa Blue tansy reparative mask. My hair loves those 2 products!
I love how your videos are straightforward, informative and helpful 👏🏾. I haven't used a protein treatment in my hair. I would say it is balanced but since I use heat regularly (blow drying) my hair would benefit from it. Have a blessed weekend Tonya 💜
So this question has nothing to do with the video but I figured since this is still all about natural hair care . But do anybody else use Aussie moist Jojoba oil & Avocado oil shampoo & conditioner. Because my hair absolutely loves it . But I can’t really tell if it’s a moisturizing shampoo or a hydrating shampoo. I’m low porosity and would say I’m around 4c hair . Because people are telling me the ingredients in that shampoo just gives off the feel that it’s moisturizing but it’s not. & I’m still new into this natural hair journey. It’s just too much for me lol . . Back when we were kids all we used was water, and grease & some protective styles and our hair grew healthy. So all of this is a bit too much for me to understand.
I use aussie moist and I love it. I think if your hair feels good, stick to what works for u. Once n a while I do use a clarifying shampoo or apple cider vinegar to clarify.
Btw grease is also a good sealant but has gotten a bad rep based on misinformation. If water and grease work for you, just go for it but ensure to clarify your hair as needed to avoid build-up. Curly chemistry has debunked the myths around grease and I can tell you she's right - grease is awesome!
Wow! I actually just did the Aphogee Protein 2-Step Treatment today. I did my first one 6-ish weeks ago. I desperately needed it and found the courage to do it myself. It wasn’t nearly as a big deal as I thought it would be. I watched tons of videos just to be sure I’d do it right. My hair did benefit from it but I know hair repair is a process. Like the first time, my curls are popping. I’m really happy with the results. I’ve scheduled to do it every six weeks on my calendar throughout 2024. I think after that I’ll probably switch to every 3 months. But it’s definitely been a game changer for me.
I have high porosity type 3c hair and I always find myself going back to Miche Beauty and Mielle Organic Hawaiian Ginger. Miche Beauty’s protein and moisture deep conditioners give me the control to select the right one for my hair. Mielle Organics Hawaiian Ginger line incorporates an overnight deep conditioner that I use as instructed on the package or as a pre-poo. Pre-pooing, protein treatments, and moisture treatments are the three most important things for my hair at this stage.
Please do a video on Protein rich deep conditioners, Protein rich peave in conditioners, moisture rich deep conditioners too. Thank you for ypur videos
do a video on moisture deficiency please!! and I use doo gro protein treatment. I use it occasionally; I mix it with sulfur and oils like my diy moringa oil. I have high porosity and I usually keep my hair in twists for proetection.
I wash my hair every week with Pattern Moisturizing Shampoo and ALWAYS apply TGIN Miracle Repairx CPR protein Treatment immediately following the shampooing. It may not be a strong protein treatment…(I noticed it’s not on the list) but, it’s just right for a weekly visit with my gray-infused, densely thick 3C-4A-4C strands. I section my hair, apply the CPR, cover with a plastic cap and leave it like that for an hour….with heat. Yep!!! A full hour!!! I absolutely can’t neglect the CPR protein treatment part of my wash day. My strands don’t behave without it…and believe me, I’ve tried!! 🤣🥰 I think I could definitely end up with protein overload if I started using a more intense protein treatment on a weekly basis.
I have the Ecoslay matcha protein treatment I recently tried fermented rice water And earlier this year started using a bamboo rice water rinse and DC from Curls and potions.
I feel so lost trying to understand my hair and protein. I do a protein treatment once a month. I think a light protein leave in would definitely help for the in between.
Thank you but imagine that I washed my microlocs today and I just washed out an apogee protein treatment! I am doing a hot oil treatment now! Great minds think alike 😊 be blessed everyone
Great video but I am doing the moisture (aussie.moist avocado line) and protein balance (aphogee 2 min) and my hair is still dull and I've come to realize is the hard water because my hair is brassy orangey color and lacks shine. Can you do a video on hard water please. How to get the best out of ur hair when dealing with hard water
Okay I usually make rice water like once a month is rice good for protein? Also I heard another person say you can use onion not for protein why is onion good for the hair ❤❤ happy Thanksgiving also
My hair strands pull right out when I wash it. I was severely vitamin D deficient but I’ve been rectifying that. But my hair does feel gummy and lifeless, I’ve never tried a protein treatment but I’m going to buy one wnd see if that helps improve my hair.
Right now I've been using a deep conditioner that contains both moisturizing and protein ingredients on weeks 1, 2 and 4 and a protein free conditioner on week 3.
Hi, I haven't commented in a long time but i am here girl lol. I try to keep a balance of moisture and protein but right now i think my hair needs more protein. My wash days are usually 2 times a month but because of a family situation this is actually week 3 for me and its time to do a wash day. My hair has change over the years since transitioning and becoming natural and girl i see not grey but silver strands throughout my hair SMH lol. Thanks for sharing always
I use Healthy Hair Tri Wheat Leave In spray as my 1st layer after wash/condition. It's like water..so lightweight. It mixes with everything. My hair is so fine and prone to breakage that this has really made a difference. My wash and gos are lasting longer too. It has amodimethicone but I don't care. Giving up silicones didn't work for my hair. I lost so much hair. Silicones are for me.
Q: Aphogee also has the Keratin 2-minute reconstructor. Whats the difference between the product you're mentioning and the keratin, isn't Keratin a type of protein? Can I use that to also maintain moisture in my hair? This is exactly what I'm missing from my hair. Thank you
Hi, Great video!!! Very informative and on point! Have you tried Curlsmith BOND CURL REHAB SALVE? If so, what are your thoughts on it? Thank You for sharing this video with us!
I think Phytokeratin and rice/silk proteins don't have the same effect. Phytokeratine is to strength hair whereas rice and silk protein help keeping the moisturize in the hair
Is it true that tight kinky curls are high porosity and needs extra protein? I always thought when hair doesn't get wet easily, it's low porosity and therefore, you dont need extra protein.
Hi. This may be off topic but I am very concerned about my lack of hair growth. In 2019 before my gastric sleeve weight loss surgery, my natural hair was just above my waist in the back. After the surgery I cut my hair to shoulder length, than to my neck. Late last year my hair stopped growing. It sheds a lot and is hard to moisturize. The leave in conditioner just sit on my hair without absorbing the product. I have 4A hair and I don't know how to get it to grow again. Help!
Can you make a video on moisture and not extremely curly hair that is dry waby and curly hair but not right curl what products and how to get back your could I am Spanish my hair used to be more curly now is a mix or waves and curl not defined thin hair. I want my curl back I am 50 yr so not much volume anymore.. Please help
I read alot of the comments before I writing this comment, I maybe didn't get the memo on the good old fashion eggs for protein treatment? I normally use 2 eggs and a 1/4 a cup of mayo( I know it's made of eggs), fenugreek infused avocado oil, Neem oil and about half cup of basic conditioner.🤔
It’s not really a protein treatment because it didn't penetrate the hair (egg have big molecules ) add to your diy phytokeratine or silk protein instead
hi! i had an iron deficiency months after giving birth after having bloodwork done and it was horrible. all of my hair broke off particularly in the back of my head and my ends were see through. i had to trim a few inches, but i started taking an iron supplement, vitamin d and biotin and within a month, the breakage had completely stopped. by around two to three months, my hair was growing back in fast and thick as usual. also during this time, i stopped using heat and made sure to incorporate protein regularly (high porosity hair) and i saw a dramatic difference. hope this helps!
@@xxboujeedollfacexx Thank you for the great details. What you described was my hair and I didn't know why. My ends just looked eaten up. I purchased a protein and will start using it my next wash. And at the same time my vitamin D was high so my doc said stop taking i so that can't have helped. This really helps a lot :)
I don't know what the hell is going with my hair. It feels mushy when I'm shampooing. But feels extra soft, like too soft when moisturizing. I use AsIAm pomegranate Conditioner as a light protein treatment
@CurlyChemistry my hair doesn't break when I stretch it. And the hair does pop back, so to speak. I've been struggling for a while, but I seem to be making some headway. I've been gradually cutting off the damaged hair. I'm natural. As my hair grew out, you could see the difference because it was very straight at the ends. And I don't heat syle often. 2-4x a year.
I don't use protein too much, but when I do, I use aphogee 2 minute.
Which product aphogee!?

Definitely! Also yes product build up and hair that needs to be clarified can definitely have an issue with absorbing moisture.
I’m switching my shower head with one for hard water chemicals etc. because I have really hard water, this can also contribute to my hair issues.🤷🏽♀️
A video on DIY protein treatments would be great also!
I struggle so much with this issue. I have protein sensitive hair. So it is so hard to keep proper moisture/protein balance. In return I struggle with breakage. 😢

Yess!! Coming soon! :-)
I use cassia obavata, and/ or henna for strengthening properties

Question: Why is it that certain hair strands fills like straw no matter what you do to moisturize it/lubricate it with oil?
Thanks for sharing 🙂.

What if you're washing 4 times a month, every week do you still do the alternate moisture one week and protein the following week? Thanks Tonya.
Hey! That’s an options yes, or you can do a protein treatment once a month.
Please 🙏🏽 give me the information on moisture🙏🏽
I fine when I wash my hair and comb it, it breaks off in bits of pieces
