Welcome back Paich we have missed you.
I first heard the incredible sound of Toto on the radio (Hold the Line) as I woke up in Laguna Beach in January 1979 after a flight from London to attend a scientific symposium on atmospheric chemistry and was immediately totally hooked! What a band!

It was a very emotional moment. I had hope that David would stop by considering the location but to have him actually perform 2 songs (Africa, Home of the Brave) was nothing short of a miracle. Thank you David!

My wife and I got to meet one of their songwriters, Michael Sherwood while we were waiting in line last night. Fascinating to hear some inside tidbits about the band. They were, of course, incredible!! Lukather was as amazing as he was when he hit the scene back then! Stinkin' awesome!

Is Paich back for good or was it just this one show?
Great question. I have tickets to see them in Philly on Oct 20, which is the very last show of the tour. I fear it could be the last show of this great band's career....and I really would love for David Paich to be there.
This is the only show he have attended so far on this tour. I think. According to an interview with Luke.
That bass player is jacked. I have no clue who these newer guys are. Did Simon Philips and Nathan East stop playing with them?
Simon hasn't been with them for quite a while now. I know they had Keith Carlock after him, and then I'm not sure who the current drummer is.
@@steves_garage I just read that Simon left 5 years ago. Yikes. Not sure where I've been.
Shannon Forest has been there on drums since 2014. Best fit since Jeff passed IMHO. Plus hes a Nashvill A list studio ace very similar to the other Toto guys with literally thousands of credits. Bassist is Shem von Schroeck since 2017. Played with a ton of people like Don Felder, Michael McDonald etc. and also is an accomplished tenor opera singer.
Current drummers: Lenny Castrp (who was there in the late 70's as well) and Shannon Forrest
Paul I Yeah I saw Castro was still with them. Did he play with them in the Live in Paris (1990) show or was that someone else on percussion?

Dominique "Xavier" Taplin - to the left of David facing the stage. He's young, humble & really talented...he was one of Prince's final keyboard players before he passed. He did Paich proud!

I know that David missed last year with a health issue. Does anyone know what the issues was and whether he is over it? I'm very happy that he was well enough to play at this show! It's great to see him again! Not only is he a legend but he's one of the nicest guys in the business!
Paich have diabetes
@Stephen Negley I assume he has Type II diabetes. The good news is that it is curable. Type II diabetes is cause by a bad diet with too much sugar. If he starts eating relatively healthy, he will be fine.

Why do they have 3 keyboard players?
unfortunately they've always been a keyboard band which is a pity since folks have no idea how goddamn good of a gtr player Lukather is! The two Joseph Williams albums were their best. Steve gets to do more gtr on those and Joseph was easily the best tenor of them all! Fahrenheit and The Seventh One 😎 I have no idea why Steve stayed, to be quite frank.
I’m sure they have their reasons based on what they are trying to accomplish. I just give them credit for NOT having 3-4 guitar players plus a bass player - like countless numbers of other bands. I find myself asking the same question about those guitar bands all the time. To me, THAT’S comical.

@@VdamMusic luckily? Bobby suffers some health-problems, that's a pity. I like Joseph very much, both are "real" Toto-lead-singers to me. But the lead-vocals are very challenging and actually Joseph now is the man.
funklover24 He can't sing live for a long time now.. so yeah that's luckily for why he's not with the band anymore! It indeed sucks he got health problems and hopefully he recovers from them soon! Also a pitty Toto now stopped🥺
