They actually have more time to tell the story in this LA series than was available in all of book 1 of the cartoon due to the length of the LA episodes. So they will be expanding certain stories. That aside, the primary reason for bringing any story into a new medium is that it will reach a new audience. Unfair as it is, there are no few people that would never touch just because it is animated. A successful new series in a new medium just has the chance to reintroduce the franchise to a whole new group of people.
Id hope they have something to say rather than be a 1:1 remake. I agree that would be fine as long as the action and vfx can hold up. What concerns me is they pissed off the creators years ago so I'm keeping my expectations low.

My only beef with this is the Port Wine stain we got instead of an actual scar on Zuko at 1:28 . For all it's faults, at least the scar on Zuko in the first movie had some texture to it. I really hope this Zuko doesn't spend as much time whining about his scar in this as he does in the cartoon, because he got off pretty easy, considering his dad set his face on fire.
I would wait a bit longer before making a final judgement about the scar. Teaser trailers often have premature/incomplete SFX, so it might still change before the series airs. Oh yes, new Avatar The Last Airbender Netflix series will be good and incredible in 2024 just like the original show, I can't wait to see new live action series not The Last Airbender movie 2010 next year. Avatar The Last Airbender 2024 is way much better than The Last Airbender movie 2010 I'm so glad😄😁😄
The first shots are literally of the air nation genocide, so it’s not going to be a 1:1 of the cartoon. Hopefully we’ll get all the darker stuff that was only hinted at throughout the show.
So visually it all looks a LOT like the animated show in a really good way (which TBH I never actually watched much of) It looks so accurate to the characters overall that it almost feels like when fans make their imaginations of what the live-action would look like. And sometimes those too-literal translations don't work in reality, because uncanny valley, or it looks super corny. But then there's so many adaptations that would change things too much for sometimes no discernable reason. But no this looks like it captures the spirit and literal looks of a lot of the character designs without being corny or cartoony (which is an issue I have with One Piece that still looks very cartoony) But I mean I thought Cowboy Bebop Live Action looked pretty good (mostly) visually for an adaptation and no-one liked that. So who knows.
I love the book series and want to yell at whoever was responsible for the train wreck called a movie; to retry but this time not make horrible decisions in the final cut. Because Minotaurs looking like vikings makes perfect sense like cutting out Angelica and Mr. Cat as much as they did. Next time break the books into multiple movies and make the races look right. They made Saphira look good so why not the other creatures... and I guess the Shade looked OK. But new book... nice. Looking forward to that.
I'm ambivalent about it but super excited for the new animated series the creators are still involved with. Can't get past the fact that they were originally involved in this and then bailed because the studio didn't see eye to eye with them
This is a very inconsequential critique .. but man they really just picked some real random nonsense to narrate huh? "Time is a funny thing.. the past the future, they get all mixed up. Theres only one way to keep it straight. Always remember who you are". For a show SO full of memorable wisdom.. its like they deliberately wanted to pick some gibberish that barely has anything to do with the themes of the show.
Visual wise it looks really good but I'm still apprehensive about the overall acting and writing / direction. I'm also curious to know how they'll handle the cast growing up, especially Aang, if they start getting future seasons / books greenlit. Gordon Cormier (Aang) is 14 so if they start adapting all 4 books, they might have to outright recast him.
They seem to actually show the Air Nomad genocide, which is good, it's not something the original could've done. There's an extra 20 minutes of runtime too. So they can expand certain things. Also there's no restrictions like not showing blood that's on most cartoons, so characters that fight with blades may actually be able to fight instead of doing the workaround where they just disarm each other or knock people out or Mei has to throw nail her opponents to the wall through their clothes instead of actually hitting them. Oh and they also had to rush season 3 of the original because of outside influence. Initially the plan was to have 4 books, not just the 3 we got. So that's also a reason for this to exist, they could actually put back in the things they had to cut out.
The live action movie did the native language pronunciations while the animated show did the Americanized versions. Also The Last Airbender movie isn't actually bad. As a faithful adaptation, yes it is bad. As an ironic satirical comedy, it is truly amazing The city you can't remember is Omashu. And we all know Clarus memory tends to fail her in these moments, but rest assured she isn't alone. Many have thought the city shown was Ba Sing Se. As far as how good its gonna be. I've already decided it's gonna be good. I think based on what we've seen it cannot be bad. The true question is will it be OK, Amazing, or somewhere in between.
The show came out first, therefore the pronunciations it uses are correct and the movie is wrong. Full stop. Also, it’s not a satirical comedy. It was made to be an intentional adaptation, and it failed because it disrespected the canon and characters established in the original while CLAIMING to come from a place of love. Shyamalan claimed to be a massive fan of the series and said he wanted to adapt it, not satirize it. He failed. The movie failed.
@@mc-rn8ro Yes, I know it's bad but it's so bad it's funny and I've heard people joke that it's actually good as a satirical comedy. Also the names aren't correct or wrong. They are equally right. They used how it would be pronounced in China and the respective real life languages. It was a stylistic difference that is no more correct than the original

Hopefully we’ll get all the darker stuff that was only hinted at throughout the show.
momo looking like momo is a nice thing to see.
Boomi's city is Omashu
Good to see you goons. Looking forward to The Expanse reunion. Respect for the solidarity with the strike
Please be good, please be good, please be good....
Guys! Please.... It's OMASHU!!!! Why it is everyone blanking on this! Not hating, just baffled!
But no this looks like it captures the spirit and literal looks of a lot of the character designs without being corny or cartoony (which is an issue I have with One Piece that still looks very cartoony)
But I mean I thought Cowboy Bebop Live Action looked pretty good (mostly) visually for an adaptation and no-one liked that. So who knows.
go watch it all! you are missing out
you can’t have a valid opinion if you haven’t even watched the show. are you here just to be a critic? lol
I'm here to see reactions to bad adaptations. But I might save Christmas for a rewatch of Winter Dragon. You reacted to that before right?
They have
There is no war in Ba Sing Sei...
It looks identical to the cartoon. I dont know why the film didn't.
Looks very interesting!
Did you guys watch korra?
You guys need to react to the trailer
They managed to pull off One Piece, so I have hope. It's really going to be down to the writers though, since the production looks good.
You should react to Avatar: The Legend of Korra. It is an amazing show.
Bump lives in Omashu. And yes, they’re dumping all 8 episodes at once.
Hype is real!! Woot!
Yes I want a reaction to the life action film 💯
Can't wait
I love the book series and want to yell at whoever was responsible for the train wreck called a movie; to retry but this time not make horrible decisions in the final cut.
Because Minotaurs looking like vikings makes perfect sense like cutting out Angelica and Mr. Cat as much as they did.
Next time break the books into multiple movies and make the races look right. They made Saphira look good so why not the other creatures... and I guess the Shade looked OK.
But new book... nice. Looking forward to that.
What movie??? 😆
I'm ambivalent about it but super excited for the new animated series the creators are still involved with. Can't get past the fact that they were originally involved in this and then bailed because the studio didn't see eye to eye with them
Where is the Cabbage merchant?!
The actor was cast so he's in there
Captain Canada
If you liked this I think you’ll really like the One Piece live action on Netflix.
It's Omashu
I would want to see your reaction to bad movies 🎬
As long as this is not woke, then this is watchable.
OmaShu
As an ironic satirical comedy, it is truly amazing
The city you can't remember is Omashu.
The creators of Avatar said that they don't agree creatively with what Netflix has done.
they made a new interview since the trailer got out ?
Looks so promising! But - thing that was missing was “my cabbages! 🥬” 🤣 the trailer had such a serious tone, i just hope they do not forget about the humor 💛
- And the music when we saw Aang epiiiiic!
I fear, because its netflix, they are going to try and fit an entire book in 8 episodes. You cant do the proper character development in 8 episodes, unless you do 2 hr episodes. I want this to be good!!
