Thanks Ken for taking the time to bring content from places that some of us aren’t close enough to visit (YET). A lot of people on the west coast don’t understand how much history of the sport we Love has been painstakingly preserved for future generations, your knowledge and enthusiasm for Motorcycle’s of all types shows as your eyes light up and it’s hard for you to even get inside because we may miss something cool on the perimeter. Keep on showing the world how motorcycles help keep a family strong and connected for many generations! GOD BLESS YOU! Ps: Ken Jr. was railing in Daytona SX track!
Whoever wins that bike should donate it to the museum or Matt personally!! It's the last project he worked on with his dad.Thank you Ken for this video. WTT is in great hands with Matt in charge! So is NEMM with you and Jr.
Mr. Kaplan how absolutely awsome great and outstanding that Dale's legacy is so beautifully preserved and in such great hands by teaching his son all that he has?!?!!! I'm so so so excited and happy that we wont miss a step after the much much to early passing of the great Dale Walksner!!! Sometimes great things get lost when the originator dies because there isnt someone to take over but in Wheels through time we wont have that problem!!! YAHOO!!! YEAH!!!! Also its very cool to me because I'm a little too young but I'm from the northern suburbs of Chicago just like Dale was and I know of guys who worked on bikes with Dale and rode bikes with Dale but it was many many years ago!!! When harley was passing out dealerships for the Chicago region it was that damned Barry Brown that made it real hard for anyone to get a nice sized dealership real close to the city and youd have to if you were going to make any real big money selling harleys and most far out suburban Harley dealerships really struggled to make ends meet and I'd imagine Dale has really good years but struggled alot of years? That Barry Brown is old as hell now and retired but your in the business so you can probaly find out about him?? He owned and ran Chicago Harley and was the number one first harley dealer in Chicago and for that he had a relationship with the big boys in Milwaukee that made things really hard on other dealerships. Ask Matt about him because I would assume his dad had some choice words for Barry Brown owner of Chicago Harley like almost all the other guys did!!!
I rode "the rattler" the day I visited that museum a few years ago. Not as congested as the dragon. You can really enjoy that road. That area has some of the best street bike roads I've ever been on and I live and ride in the Ohio river Valley in West Virginia for a reason, but the North Carolina and Tennessee back roads are great.
Being around bikes my entire life the amount of work they have put in to have that collection is staggering, and so impressive. im bringing my grandchildren here this year and cant wait to show my respect to the Walkslers
Absolutely awesome Ken. Beautiful Museum beautiful location. And a very worthy cause. Because it seems today that a lot of the younger generation just doesn't really care about motorcycling anymore. But as long as us older dogs are still alive we will still be loving it. And trying to inspire a few younger ones along the way.
Matt so sorry to hear of the passing of you're dad.he was one in a million ,he taught you well & the museum couldn't be in better hand..new sub.RIP to one of the most complete man.
Ken, this really shows how much you really love motorcycles and everything to do with the sport. Dale and Matt sound like the nicest folks. Thanks for sharing your experience with us. Great camera work too Christy (sp)!
Still watching from N.C . Went to Wheels thru Time 2 Yrs ago . Was greeted by Dale at the door and gave us a personal tour . What a good time . RIP Dale ! Dale will be missed but not forgotten . Originally from Meriden , Conn I want to visit the Kaplan compound also . Great vids man , I enjoyed each and every one .
I just recently found Matt and the museum and have been binge watching for the past 3 weeks because, although I love bikes (H/D's) I feel like such a fraud for a couple of reasons. First i'm a Journeyman Toolmaker (from Danbury Connecticut). Second I moved to Atlanta and lived there for 27 years. All of the people I know in the shops in and around the south are all about Bikes (not that it a territorial thing, but it is a machine shop thing). And for me I've never been in a situation (living or finial) where a bike would be practical. soooo..... I've just been given a "...MASTERS CLASS..." on bikes Thank you Matt !!!
I did have a bunch of bikes growing up ..mini-bikes, Rupp's, Chibbi's, YZ's, XR-500R, KTM 495 ...(I couldn't sell that thing fast enough because I DIDN'T WANT TO DIE) !!! But I did work with a guy that had a 48 Hydra-Glide dresser ..and that was it !!! I was hooked !!! I love springers too, Beach handlebars, FAT BOYS !!! But like I said, I just been given a masters class of the American Motorcycle history as well as a big insight to Dale and Matt's story, soooo...... thanks' for that !!!!
Watched Part 1... Just getting to Part 2. Thanks for sharing your adventures. I lived in Maggie Valley NC for 13 years. Dale was one of a kind and built the most amazing and important museums on two-wheeled machines and more. And Matt's knowledge is above and beyond. Thanks again for sharing ✌️ 😎 Rest in Peace Dale 🕊️🙏🌹💜 Miss the yearly charity rides with you and so many others there...
As I'm watching this, I'm in Maggie Valley. My wife and I came for two days yesterday. Missed the raffle by one day and sadly didn't win the the 48 but went to the museum today. I encourage anyone that loves motorcycles and motorcycle history to visit the museum. You cannot see many bikes of this heritage and quality anywhere else. Was hoping to meet Matt but missed him. The museum is in great hands!
Matt you have some big shoes to fill ! Based on what I’m seeing you are going to make it look easy, enjoy the journey 💪(thanks Dale & Mom for raising a true gentleman)
Me and my buddy helped Dale hold up a big old steel pole while he bolted it down. It was for some sort of sign that was in July of 02 before the museum was officially open. It was my first trip to NC on my Road King. For giving him a hand he gave us a personal tour around the place. He told us nearly every bike in the place ran and he started a old Harley for us. He was a super nice guy. We were sad to hear he passed. Im trying to plan a trip back down there this summer to see how the museum transformed.
Best wishes to the family RIP Dale. My wife is a member of the Cherokee nation. We have stoped in Maggie valley and visited the museum on our way to Cherokee N C. .vary cool guys. I strongly recommend that all try to do the same....
Generations of bike riders, myself I'm 60 and my brother 3rd Generation , my brothers kids 4th There kids 5th , my Grandfather had 27 bikes, my dad several God 's a BIKER God speed KEN AND.MATT and Generations to Come.!!!!! THANK'S from NOR-CAL!!!!!

Bitchin job bringing the old school to the new generations . I think maybe your hard work won't be fully appreciated until you and I are both ashes and dust. Motorcycles have been my life for 57 years and the thing I wish for is to shake ur hand someday. Ty for keeping the dream alive and entertaining all of us. Godspeed to you and yours ... ride on brother. And to ride pat Richters fox bike 😁
In an age where children squander their father’s legacy that just get handed to them, it’s nice to see a son that has his father’s passion and continuing the tradition.
Hey Matt, My wife baby sitted you in southern Illinois---------Good friends of Dale and his wife back then------helped him barn find many times---and I ended up with a couple of them. Mark and Debi Sampson

Still bummed about the old man.bet he didn't have an enemy in his life.in fact I can draw comparisons between Dale & yours truly ....safe travels, you never know when you're last day on this planet is.god bless & be careful.
Jeez I would watch Dale's videos without really knowing his background but I'd look at him and say to myself boy I think I know this guy Dale?, well I was from a little bit south of Vernon hills but if Dale was known to be the youngest dealer then he definitely knew Barry Brown the owner of Chicago Harley and Barry in his later years did the huge dealership right next to a major highway in Northbrook Il right off of Willow road. It might of been Glenview Il well Matt was right because that huge dealership failed and is gone. Listen to Matt!!!
Easy kap mate ive just set up a channel myself under my TH-cam name how do you put music into the video's has iam just learning at the moment & only done a short clip on my rear tailgate but want to make some restoration videos on classic bikes & even parts restoration
