[RELOADED_REMIXED] Chapter 10: Choice is an illusion.

  • Reloaded Remixed is a fan edit combining elements of "The Matrix Reloaded", "The Animatrix" animated shorts, and the "Enter the Matrix" video game. The goal is to create a 2 hour film which is a tribute to the original work while presenting something completely new.
    For this edit I thought it was interesting that at the time the Oracle tells Neo to go to the Merovingian to cut from the Oracle leaving to the trio arriving at the restaurant. The Merovingian's line about how they are there because they were sent there. "You were told to come here and you obeyed," giving the Oracle's exit a slightly more ominous tone.

      @@binyoung7297 The Merovingian understands that power is the real motivator here, not choice. He revels in this fundamental idea so much so that he is lost to it and gives in to pleasure and enjoyment as a sense of real fulfillment rather than dwelling on choice or fulfilling some arbitrary prophecy cooked up by two hyper-intelligent people.
      Another note: In a way, the Merovingian uses his power and knowledge for himself instead of acting upon others for some kind of selfless reason.

    "Seems like everytime we meet all I have is bad news." The meaning of that line isn't apparent until he meets the architect. She means ALL the Ones,not just Neo.

    • @charlesmchoop3007
      @charlesmchoop3007 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      She says it's bad news. However, it's all the Neos, every single one that has been, job as a good human that lives loves to turn bad news for his mind & ego just into good news. Going to there is no bad or/& good at all in the end. This Neo, Thomas Anderson, "chooses" to love, to be love.
      There is no choice when it comes to life. There is no free will how our mind thinks it should be defined. The only "choice", the only "free will" is to love. To be light. It's very, very simple. Like life at all. The light switch is on, or off. Nothing more, nothing between.
      Just our mind / ego makes it complicated because it's so simple it can't understand & struggles to accept the only truth, to accept how things just are etc.

    It seems that all programs went rogue when they started to emulate human feelings: Oracle Faith, Merovingian Greed, Persephone Love, and finally Smith Hate. And since they concentrate on one feeling, they are all wrong at some point.
    In the last scene, the Architect shows Mercy, maybe that is the sign that all programs are now free and permitted to develop feelings, like humans. And then, die, when their life is over.

      @Dant e I think you may be forgetting that the oracle herself was a program and a non-human part of this simulation. The architect and the oracle were the two pillars of the matrix simluation and while it may seem they are fighting, in reality they both have the same goal and purpose; to preserve the matrix. They just do these through different means and co-exist since they cannot achieve their purpose alone.
      You are correct the architect didnt design everything, because the oracle designed some things. Or even other individuals, whether programs or humans, effected Neo's decision. Yet the simulation itself, as whole, determined Neo's decision.
      What I'm implying is that, in a case where the architect and the oracle themselves can be considered programs created by a higher level of abstraction, a sophisticated superintelligence, which can emerge from AI, could have engineered every single decision Neo ever made, by carefully engineering his environment and experiences.

    Choice. Fate. Destiny. Your choice is A or B or perhaps C...you think you are making a conscious decision, but if you are being led by fate then your decision was predetermined and your choice an illusion. Predeterminism? You just float along with the tide and let things happen because your fate is decided either way so what's the point of doing anything? The outcome always remains the same. Often, choices seem to cause just as much destruction as they do constructive results (the road to Hell is paved with good intentions). If I choose to jump in front of a moving train, I will surely be killed, but was that truly my decision or fate playing out? After the fact, how could you ever know if the consequences you experience are the direct result of your choices (regret), or in fact destiny that you have no control over?

    This is my exact philosophy. There is no free will. And that’s okay. Life is a Roller Coaster ride, of ups and downs. We do not truly choose anything, because to make a choice, it has to be from a place of stability, and without bias. But we are all completely bias, and have our own unique subjective perspectives. And are driving force in existence is to evolve and feel better. That is the true controller here. It influences our every move.
    If we truly have “choice”, then decide to make yourself do something you do not want. Impossible right? (And if you say that you already do things you don’t want all the time, then please understand. Your only doing things you don’t want, because they will give you something you do want. Because as a species, we are completely infatuated with desire.)
    You can’t resist it, you can’t fight it, you can’t change it. And you don’t need to. It’s perfect, the way it is. The perfect system. Everything in life is scripted to happen. But since we don’t know the what the future holds, it gives us the illusion of free will.
    Which in actuality means, there is only destiny and what is meant to be without our input or concern.

And that your just doing your part in the grand scheme of things. Sure we don’t get to choose anything in the human experience, (just the illusion of it) but that’s okay. Because all that matters is being happy right? No need to worry. Everything is taken care of. God/universe has his divine plan, and he is keeping everything in order. He’s the one with the real free will. Lol 🙂

      Person loking from superdetermintic perspective often forgets that not everything is indeed coherent by one another. So tho say, not all action that one person does affect one another, and because of that, determinism is determined to its certain limits beyond which in does not function. Exactly like Merovingian who went exile, when free will is invented. In some areas, to which power / influences does not reach, there is freedom (one of two version freedom.) from this specific force, but led by other force. When we have this particular freedom from something analized, there is yet another one freedom to, which is having a ability, which is a result of determinism, but it itself can course other chain of reaction. This specific are happens when someone is self aware, that can course self-determinatic chain to happen led by choice, determined by its ability to be in certain areas. That is to say, it depends on perspective, and what was, as I guess the meaning of this film, and the words of Oracle, that 'you should make your own damn mind', and 'know thyself'.

      I think what he means is that "whatever happened have sufficient reasons for it happen", but still your action/inaction created the result, so yeah, you still have a choice. Even though if you really dig deep in it, your action/inaction is still dictated by the outside force...but that would be another discussion.

      @JoRgEChavez-to2xd 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@potatoeconnectionmohawk1996 A choice is always much more likely to be premeditated. She clearly didn't premeditate her actions because she didn't know Morpheus, Neo, and Trinity would visit them; but the Merovingian did, so his actions were a premeditated choice, which caused Persephone to seek vengeance by betraying the Merovingian when he again chose to disregard his adversaries in order to fornicate with the woman in the pink dress instead. Try listening to the dialog without watching the movie and then watch it again. It might make more sense that way since you won't be distracted by what is being done on screen. He (the Merovingian) was the cause of the effect (Persephone's betrayal) of his choices. That scene is arguably the best in the whole trilogy because it not only questions both the ideology of the leader of the hero group by challenging it in several manners, but also proves that neither of the two is entirely correct nor entirely wrong. Think of them as yin and yang, opposing forces that go hand in hand because they need each other.

This has narcissistic connotations, particularly in the context of nationalism. The Merovingian is the author of his own slice of the Matrix so it allows him to emotively & behaviourally shape the programs who come into his service. He has a very cynical anti-humanist view of human nature which I think also may fit postmodernism.
