  • I finally fix the ABS light on my Volvo 740, after testing the sensors and checking resistance, it turned out to be a hidden fuse all along, but then after some test emergency stops I experience severe brake failure...

I love how old cars reward you when you fix them by having something else break!

Probably best if you don’t mention it to the Mrs….they can be very sensitive about tiny details like brakes 😂

Well crap! Isn't that the thing with these cars, fix one thing, something else goes. Can't wait to see the next video!

Ah, the joy of failing brakes, and the lovely feeling you get, when you push the brake pedal all the way to the floor and nothing happens. And i do hope that you and the Volvo are ok.

I know how you feel when the fuse fixed the ABS. For over a year the gearbox on my 940 would drop out of fourth down to third and stay there. Recently a wise Volvo mechanic said it was probably the overdrive relay. I bought one for 80 bucks. Plugged it in, gearbox works fine, I was so pleased. The old one did not have any apparent damage. It's a great feeling when the old Volvo starts working again like it should.

On a lot of those older Volvos with electronic speedometers, it's often shoddy wiring down to the speedometer sensor on the differential. Sometimes, the sensor fails, too.

I had the same issue with my 240, had driven it for years with the abs light on. I thought that a battery issue I had, had killed the abs pump or something. So I didn’t might looking at it. My fuse wasn’t broken put after putting a fresh one in, it had fixed the problem. Then the wire on the axle broke and no speedometer and no abs again haha.

Well damn I was all ready to look for that fuse, now I think I will leave it alone. ABS light has been on since I bought it. 😅

Awesome dude. I live in Littleton New Hampshire and I watch you videos all the time. I recently inherited a 1993 240 Volvo wagon from my Mom and it runs excellent. I've replaced Every fluid all new brakes all new sensors water pump voltage regulator both fuel pumps and mostly all the bushings

That's a really nice paint color. Yes, fix "this" in order to find out "that" doesn't work.. it's climbing the ladder to success! 1988 eh? .. just getting broken in.

The old Volvos are Masterpieces and the Red Block lasts forever, If regular oil Change is done. They are nearly perfect and easy to Work on. The Problems with the Instrument- Cluster is well known and If they Had Just wired the Instruments instead of using that plastic foil, there will be No Problems att all. Nearly perfect....anyway, this is such a Solid and reliable Car, you can't find this quality today
