I always pay my fare, but when an MTA machine stole my 1/2 fare metro card the MTA is months late returning my card. Calling the mta on the 511 line , one will get a different answer per call. In conclusion; the mta is and always will be a criminal organization. So I guess the people who don't pay their fare has realized how corrupt the mta is, and I am just seeing their corruption first hand.

I’m lucky that I live on Long Island and I have easy access to the LIRR. For people who live west of the Hudson River in Rockland County and Orange County, this is even more unfair. There’s no trains that take you directly into Manhattan from those two counties. Congestion pricing is not fair for anyone. Not everyone has easy access to public transport which is already mega expensive.

If you want to avoid congestion pricing, you could just drive to the nearest train or subway station. That way you avoid traffic, parking, congestion pricing and having to be on a slow bus

But hey! At least congestion pricing will help pay for the subways that most NYers skip the fare on anyway 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️

I work in healthcare and a lot of the big hospital with greater services and technologies are located within the city. Especially NYU Midtown, Sloan Kettering, Weil Cornell, Mt. Sinai, Northwell ENT, Lenox Hill, and etc. In order to arrive at this hospitals at a timely matter, cars will have to enter from below 60th street. The fact that MTA knows this and still pushed for this, shows how much of a money grab it is.

Imagine being punished for your inability to get around reliably because your city will onlj do the bare minimum whilst launching lofty programs, raising fares and buy unnecessary new equipment.

Even the suburbs have fairly decent access to trains. Not to mention congestion pricing is also meant to be a Pigouvian tax on people contributing to congestion. Which has gotten worse post covid and complicates emergency responses.

I have a novel idea, tax all the limousine/car service vehicles that bring the rich in from the suburbs! How about tax the private planes as well. The 1% who are commuting from their second homes to their executive jobs cannot only afford it but will find a way to charge it as a business expense just like their commute and other expenses are. For example their apartments in the city paid for by us…. WAKE UP PEOPLE

Congestion Pricing isn’t about deserting these folks. It’s about removing unnecessary traffic. If anything, their commutes would be made easier, and they’ll spend less time stuck in traffic or paying for gas.

@@enarush1yeah but time isn’t a problem if you are retired. So taking the bus or train over driving to avoid congestion pricing isn’t a big deal
