  • Unique, high quality and regal - an average designer fragrance this is not. Earthy tobacco, balsamic myrrh and sweet honey give way to some dark leather and woods, making this a true gem for the fragrance connoisseur.

    EU:
*** In the video, I mentioned Brasty had this for 50 EUR, but I found a slightly better price on this website:
    es.vesira.com/chopard-oud-mal...
    North America:
Again, check Fragbuy for restock. Fragbuy usually has this at a great price.

This smells like a lot of the mosques in Saudi Arabia. A wearable and soothing woody “oudy” scent. I can see an oud accord in it, but it’s definitely more about the guaiac wood and isn’t challenging at all.

I had to sub because you gave me the low down on what I was wanting to know.. I've never had an oud before - have about 20 frags - I was planning on getting Velvet Desert Oud first up. Is this a more advanced version of that? From the reviews here and on fragrantica - I'm sold on this juice.

      Thanks!
      They don't smell anything alike.
Velvet Desert Oud is more similar to Gucci Intense Oud and Encre Noire a l'Extreme. That is to say, doesn't smell like oud and doesn't contain oud - just a dry, smoky, woody pencil shavings feeling. VDO does have some nice amber though - good fragrance.
Oud Malaki doesn't have oud either - it is all about tobacco and honey and it has some leather and spices as well.

Thanks for that super helpful info!
I'm getting the VDO because I can get a cheap bottle.. Even though it's Oud Lite.
      Maybe no Malaki then...
What are your thoughts on Arabians Tonka?
Any recommendation for a first oud?

The dry down smells like Vicks VapoRub on my skin.

Oud Malaki is popular with women so it could be unisex in some way.
Dominique Ropion (oud malaki perfumer) also made an interesting and more versatile version of this scent for CoSTUME NaTIONAL called Homme.
Have you tried any of the Chopard Gardens of Kings collection? I only have Agar Royal and the quality is amazing, the oud in it is very present and natural. I wanted to get more of the collection but the prices are way too high at the moment.

Hi, I have read all your comments on this channel. I was wondering if you could kindly recommend something nice smelling but a bit challenging in the same time....
I thought about: Portfolio oud from Al Haramain, Swiss Arabian ouds, these ones..
Most importantly it doesn't smell cheap... please
      Regards Andrei

Pretty weak juice to be honest. Abysmal performance and longevity aside, the composition just lacks "oomph" as they say. It doesn't have any bite in the opening, and much less in the drydown. Too safe and inoffensive.
