      Hi Satori, thanks for the great content! Can you please make a video about designing with grids, the best practices, tips, and all that good stuff? That would be of great value!
      Peace!

      Satori Graphics recently found out you can cut/shorten Ruler guides to fit in one page!
      Well less confusing on larger artboards...

      yes lol, you mean the cyan guides? You can treat them like any other object pretty much, rotate them, cut them, duplicate them etc

    As always I love your videos. It's great that you have a variety of topics within your content. Outside of logo design these tip videos are very helpful for me. I've been using Illustrator for a few years and certain things have become natural to me but these tips and tricks have shown me faster and easier ways to execute a process. Thank you, peace and blessings!

    I have been meaning to ask you : Is your room really that cool and neat with all of this gradient new genrational style or that it's just a super cool editing of videos ? lol
    seems like you're into a low key techno music and somehow this kind of lifestyle is integrated into your design. very cool.
    I can see the relations between contemporary style, gradients, vivid colors but yet very slick and elegant the way this kind of techno music is delivered.

      Learn the necessary software. Practice and build a portfolio. Your portfolio is important. Even if you dont go to university.

    • @nuloom
      @nuloom 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      *don’t learn the necessary software, start with whatever helps you create anything and build up universal knowledge about design. When you do know the fundamentals, you can start getting into more advanced software and then start building knowledge how to execute whatever you can think of digitally. Look at the projects of some great designers, try to understand what makes it work. Then start building up your portfolio. It doesn’t make sense starting to build it with half assed projects where you couldn’t execute what you wanted to or you couldn’t understand what feels wrong about a project. You don’t have to start your portfolio off being professional, you just have to start it when you feel like it’s your work rather than a worse version of some else’s work. Also look for places where you can get good and relevant critique over your projects. It took me 3 or so months to feel comfortable in illustrator. It really is not the hard part. Being a professional graphic designer doesn’t mean you have a particular set of skills in software x, it means that graphic design is your profession. If you mean creating professional level work it’s.. complicated. It depends on how fast you learn the theory behind design and how to execute it. Might take anything between 2 months and 50 years to start producing high quality work, most people seem to start creating portfolio worthy work after they 2nd or 3rd year doing graphic design as a hobby.. if you you’re ling ling and you practice many hours everyday ofc this should take less. But of course, all i said here is relative to my own experience and observation. Perhaps Tom can give an answer of his own, as he most likely has more experience than i do.

      @@nuloom Can you please suggest me some sources for learning the basics of design. Maybe some books or some websites.

    • @SatoriGraphics

      You can learn a whole lot here on TH-cam. Start by looking into the graphic design principles such as typography, balance, colour, line etc. TH-cam and Google are your best friend, simply search 'graphic design principles' into both and start educating yourself on those. Once you are familiar with them, you can look at existing designs and see where they have been used in a good way or not.
      From there you want to start to looking at your own skills and passions within design. Do you like logos, typography, illustration? And then start to formulate an action plan around those skills and or passions. It is best to be within a niche so you can start to build a portfolio and client base around that niche of design. Start making micro goals to build up towards having a portfolio and client base, some of those goals will be to set up business accounts on social media as example.
      I should have a video on Thursday that goes through 7 tips on being a successful designer in 2020 :)

    Like where i am with this programme, like the way all my past computer design tools lead me here, like how this kind of precision had moved into my work years ago...
    Moving onto shoptalk: I'm a continental designer therefore my creative flow is in MM (millimetres) however I recently noticed that although I set my artboard's measurements to mm there are other elements like the smart guides and keyboard increments that are configured in Inch? I.e. 0.238mm < thats inch talk man? it does has an confused effect on finer details that I've recently decided has to be sorted out? ⚠️
    For instance i set out a pattern at 10mm its kern at 2mm, to duplicate (the Grid activated and set to mm) however it's near impossible (with the smart guides and keyboard increments set in Inch) to Alt drag this pattern to 24mm ahead and then Ctrl D, because it's always out by a tiny amount..
    AND i kind of didn't want to make too many Preference changes to my desktop Ai at home, because if i get any studio work i know all there computers will just be running default........
    🤔

    Hi! I've watched many great videos from your channel, wondering if you have any solutions (maybe a future video??) on how to deal with smart guides when you have a very complex drawing. Basically I wish that smart guides could ignore certain parts of a drawing, or vice-versa, only reference certain parts of a drawing. Thanks!

    I cant snap objects if they are diagonal or 45 degrees how do I fix it?

  • @nseemal.ro7210
    @nseemal.ro7210 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    My smart guidelines are not showing although I'm not hiding them, I checked every thing on the preference smart guides settings, the color is magenta so it's visible and the tolerances is 10 and still nothing, it's just showing the diagonals when I'm drawing rectangles and circles while pressing on the shift button, that's driving me crazy.
