    The 1200 isn't the smallest but i honestly keep mine within 100mi per trip. Love ripping around town on mine lol. Beautiful bikes!

    Great video!
    I had a couple Sportsters back in the '70s. Lately, I've been remembering how much fun they were to ride. Of course, part of that might be because I was in my twenties back then! 😆
    Never did any cross country rides with them but did long local rides. 1000 CC iron heads with 4 speed transmissions weren't really conducive to racking up a lot of miles.
    I've done a lot of touring since then including many cross country trips but on big twin baggers. I miss those early days though. Maybe because the US population was over 100 million less people back then and things were different. Simpler, slower, more friendly.
    This video has me thinking I should pick up another Sportster and try to recapture those days. 👍

    Beautiful country out there, some people will never get to see it.

    In a day where 800lb baggers are becoming the norm, there is alot to say about enjoying a smaller, lighter motorcycle.
    If your not making 200 mile trips on a regular basis, a Sportster with upgraded rear shocks and a set of soft bags can provide you a very enjoyable experience.

    I remember we rode panheads from Maryland to Arizona,we were going to California but only made it to Arizona, we were 16 , 17 years old no money or maps and had a blast, worked side jobs all the way across and back, now that we are all old and have big dressers and all the riding gear I can’t get anyone to go anywhere, it’s sad , keep going and have fun

    This great. Too bad you didn’t video some of the repair once you got the primary open to show what you fixed, it would have added some nice contrast to this trip. You guys are a lot younger than me haha but I’m hoping to get my passport and get to ride my sporty to Canada in 2024.

    Did you guys have an impact wrench in your luggage? Having taken the primary off my Sportster I know it's not exactly a roadside repair... Well done!

      Hey Chad, thanks for watching! I forget the exact part name but basically a little clip holding the gear changing plate on broke. To get to it was the hardest part, luckily we ended up in a store parking lot and were able to get tools.

    what is a sportster ?

    • @YYCperspective
      @YYCperspective  ปีที่แล้ว

      Harley Davidson Sportster, its the smallest true Harley (not a Buell) in their line up. Comes as either an 883cc or a 1200cc engine. Lots of people say they're too small to road trip.
