Yay! I’m not crazy! 🙌🏼 I’m in my first kidding season as a new goatherdess, and I figured your method out on my own 😅 I have Lamanchas, which are very high producers. I kept noticing in the morning that their bags were SO FULL and looked uncomfortable. I would milk them out some into the ground to relieve them, but quickly realized, “wow! This is a lot of wasted milk!” So I just started milking them out in the mornings, without separating the babies at night. So far it seems like a great set up; I get about a gallon or more a day, and the kids still have PLENTY to eat. They are going a month old now, and thriving! All in all, I love this method! New goat-owner APPROVED! Lol thanks again Delci! 💜
This is sweet!! I have been nursing for 8 years straight- while pregnant and even tandem. It seems that care of goats while nursing is similar in many ways as how I do it for myself. 😂
Lol you’ll need a goat when you are done nursing in...how many years do you think it will be? That’s amazing you’ve been nursing that long! You have an amazing body! I meant to comment on your last video. But I watched it late at night and was going to bed and I just didn’t. But I’ve been using frownies for a couple months now and love them way better than the other plastic kind. I frown when I sleep and that’s really bad LOL but I did order that skin stuff you mentioned and will be getting it next week so thanks for that tip! Now I need to make this comment on your channel LOL
I totally agree with your milking routine. I milk my herd in the same manner, once a day. I believe the kids & their mothers benefit from being kept together on many levels. I have found my kids actually grow twice as fast than bottle fed babies. The bond the mom & kid share is so beneficial as well. Im happy too, because Im not tied down milking twice a day and can do other things in my life. So a good situation for us all ! Thanks for sharing your video with us ! 😊
I am currently milking two of my does. I separate their kids off at night, milk in the morning, then give the kids back to them for the day. Milking once a day is the best for me, and separating the kids off at night works the best too. Hope you are getting good moisture this year. Last year was very dry and scary for lots of livestock folks. Rain makes everything better. Thanks for all the information you give us. It's nice to know there are others with the same interests and walking the same type of journey as I am with my goats.

I keep the kids on the mom too. I've been able to skip milking on days that for whatever reason because the kids are there to empty her. I'm here alone and not having to milk daily is wonderful on those days.
I don't like to milk twice a day either. We don't consume a lot of milk. Right now we get between three cups to a quart each morning. I also like to keep the girls on momma longer. Right now we only have two milkers. BTW, I contacted you a while back about a kid who was pooping white poops. Vet said it wasn't anything to be concerned about and tested negative for e-coli. She ended up dying at about 3 weeks. She still weighed about what she weighed at birth. Still have no answers as to what the problem was. The boy is thriving and strong. (As they always are.) At any rate, I appreciate this video. I don't think I would have much milk from momma if I didn't separate at night.
I am so sorry about losing your little one! Sometimes there is something wrong inside that could never have been made right 😕 And yeah, with a couple of mine I wouldn’t get much milk either from them with the kids on. It really depends on the goat and how much they are capable of producing
@@DelcifromALifeofHeritage I wondered if milking them out every morning would increase the milk because there is a demand? At any rate, I found it very interested that you don't separate kids. Worth a try, right?

Thank you for this video. I just brought home a mini Nubian and her doweling. She is being so naughty on the milk stand. On her farm she new exactly what to do and was a perfect milker. I'm in Texas. This past spring there was no hay available. Winter was so bad that last year's supply ran out before this year's first cutting. The grass/weeds hadn't started growing much. It was really rough. I bought goat pellets to feed them, cut tree branches, did whatever I could think of. It was rough but survived. I have a question I just got a mamma goat with a baby. She is two weeks old. When I milk her she doesn’t have enough milk maybe an ounce of milk. How can I get milk production up to more milk? Do I milk more often or will it just change on its own. Thank you for your time I love your videos.
I keep the kids on mom until they're about 6-8 weeks before I seperate them at night. If I can't milk in the morning I leave them together the night before. The kids left with mom longer grow better are healthier long term and don't have as much of a problem with coccidia. 🙌
Thank you Deci. I have a alpine/Lamancha nanny goat that has 2 (6 weeks old) does on her. I am concerned that she is so thin. We feed her free alfalfa and 2-3 lbs 14% protein and she has access to a mineral block, protein lick. 10+ gallons of fresh water. I don’t know how to get some weight on her. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
I am giving my milk does grain in the mornings when I milk, so once a day and they get one scoop or bowl full. Some of them eat it all and some of them don’t
You said in your ‘ways to milk’ video you can start milking after “several weeks.” Is that like 2 weeks? Or longer?. I have 1 week doelings and plan to separate at night and milk in the morning, but want to make sure they are ready to separate at night.
Wait until they are two weeks old to separate at night. But it’s also case specific. I just milked a doe this morning who had her kids two days ago. they are favoring one side and I milked out the side that was engorged. So watch for things like that too in the mean time 😊
Nice hobbles , only seen then for keeping horses . If anyone would like to make thier own milking machine ? You Tube has some video on making your own cheaper than buying one form a manufacturing Company . have fun and stay cool as you can .
I have ❓ How soon can you put a whether with it's Dad. We have Sheep and Goats. Our baby buckling sold but we have two Sheep we Castrated and want to put them with the Ram. They are not weaned now.
So prior to weaning I was thinking keep kids separate from mom at night and I would milk the mama but not all the way so the kids still have a little milk, then allow kids with mom all day until I separate mom amd kids that night for bed. Would that work good?
Stupid question, can I milk goats only in the evening? Our homestead is so busy in the morning and we can't incorporate that morning routine. We are thinking the baby goats can get their morning milk and we can milk the goat mama in the evening when we have time? Does that make sense? We don't have the goats yet, but we want them...we just wanna get informed. Thank you
Go ahead and fill your jars, she’s going to hold enough back for her kids. If that’s a problem give her more alfalfa, alfalfa increases milk production in goats and cows

So watch for things like that too in the mean time 😊
@@DelcifromALifeofHeritage thank you so much!! I am watching all your milking videos and I have learned so much! God Bless!
Nice hobbles , only seen then for keeping horses . If anyone would like to make thier own milking machine ? You Tube has some video on making your own cheaper than buying one form a manufacturing Company . have fun and stay cool as you can .
The hobbles are great and work great!
I want to get a milking machine so bad!
@@DelcifromALifeofHeritage you can make one . they are easy to make .
Sorry another question…If you have been milking twice a day before is it possible to wean them down to the once a day? Thanks
I have ❓
How soon can you put a whether with it's Dad. We have Sheep and Goats. Our baby buckling sold but we have two Sheep we Castrated and want to put them with the Ram. They are not weaned now.
What do you do with babies if milking once a day and baby not weanedat 10 weeks
What you feed to your goats??
How long does raw goat milk last in the fridge?
So prior to weaning I was thinking keep kids separate from mom at night and I would milk the mama but not all the way so the kids still have a little milk, then allow kids with mom all day until I separate mom amd kids that night for bed. Would that work good?
That’s what I usually do after they are older than two weeks. ☺️
So you only milk once a day even after the babies are weaned?
That’s right! Their bodies adjust and they do end up producing less milk but it’s still enough for us 😊
Stupid question, can I milk goats only in the evening? Our homestead is so busy in the morning and we can't incorporate that morning routine. We are thinking the baby goats can get their morning milk and we can milk the goat mama in the evening when we have time? Does that make sense? We don't have the goats yet, but we want them...we just wanna get informed. Thank you
Nice maam godbless
Hello and thank you 😊
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤love goat
Plz make a video on goat kids how to grow them faster and stronger plzz.
Go ahead and fill your jars, she’s going to hold enough back for her kids. If that’s a problem give her more alfalfa, alfalfa increases milk production in goats and cows
You gotta be a little quicker to the go. She will be done her kibble before you even get to her
It would be comfy for her if You use leather gloves
Perasites
I want your binder on paresites please
Delci! I live in the Flathead and would love to come check out your operation. Is that a possibility?
