It seems like whenever I hear a story of a game's development, I am so glad I am not in that business, despite loving games and loving programming. It just feels like a thankless job full of understaffed teams and overworked people, who also earn less than non game developers because studios know for a lot of people, game dev is their dream job, so they take less money.
350+ hours. For 4 months I played this title only. Very close to a drug. Earned every single thing in the game, and discovered every small twist of the story.
Certainly it’s something that is subjective and will often change all I can say is I love Hades like I do Dark Souls it sits as a game that I will never stop playing and will always enjoy above all others .
I started playing Hades a couple weeks ago. Coming off a Baldur's Gate 3 binge, I needed a game with a little less emotional investment. Hades is the perfect balance of progressively challenging combat and expanding storyline to keep me wanting more. I'm already stoked for Hades II in 2024!!
i should give this game a try since so many people recomend it, its hard to see a overwelmly positive game on steam these days... i would like to see mass effect next on the series!
I thought the same too but ended up refunding. It’s incredibly repetitive, even for a rogue like. I don’t play those games for the story either, and if I wanted a good story I’d watch a movie or read a book
I loved it! If you enjoy a bit of RNG between attempts you’ll have fun for hours, plus everything from the music to the voice acting is so rich and dripping in haughty Greek character you’ll get absorbed in by the narrative. 😊
As for rogue likes, I prefer Binding of Isaac and Dead Cells. For me, I just didn’t care enough about the story of Hades to continue doing runs. I did maybe 100 runs and had enough. Good game. Better than its clones but I didn’t get hooked by the story. I guess I just don’t want long story arcs and read so much. I just wanna do another run in these types of games. Combat is fine but not as good and varied as BOI. I thing the worst part are the levels. I don’t like the design of them.
I liked it, but I got bored of the set-in-stone structure of the bosses once I beat it. I also found the story a bit in the way after a while, I would just mash A to skip the dialog. Great voice acting and writing, but when you just want to run through a dungeon, it's a bit much. I prefer roguelikes that are a bit more varied, like Isaac. Good game, still!
Hades was the first game of its type I ever played, after watching w4stedspace stream it day in and day out. I'm also interested in greco-roman things (my bloodline can be traced all the way back to the fall of the Roman empire; Rome is the only Total War game I've ever played), and I enjoy stories of how the Greek gods continue to exist in the modern era (Stray Gods being the latest example). Now I better understand why the genre never appealled to me before, and I'm glad to have started with the first game to give a narrative reason to play run after run after run. Looking forward to playing a demigoddess witch in the sequel. *Theseus better not be in the sequel...*
Hades it’s a great game no doubt but the “only game to win a Hugo award” justification is a bit misleading imo as that category (best video game) was temporary and only awarded in 2021
Interesting video but to claim very few roguelikes have come out since is crazy. Maybe few games that are as mainstream but there are tons of indie titles that have released.
I despise the term "roguelike" as a genre. This game is NOTHING like Rogue. Its like saying Minecraft is a "CoD-like", because you can shoot (with a bow and arrow) and respawn after dying.
Hades is the most overrated game I've played. Sorry. Roguelikes suck. I love the lore, but button mashy repeat repeat would not even make game of the week for me. For people who like roguelikes I guess it's good for them but I will never understand why they do or what the appeal is.
There’s a setting you can turn on that will make the game easier as you die I had to turn this one cause I wanted to finish the story lol it helped a lot

Hades was the only roguelike I finished for the story.
same. story was surprisingly good and really love the side character stories like Achilles and Patroclus
Because other roguelike simply doesn't have a story

This is IT in general
Certainly one of my favorite games
Hades is for sure in my top 3 of all time. It's insanely good.

I want to play it but that's too much time

It’s my #1. Yes.
Great video, thanks !
Hades is definitely one of the best game ever.

One of the best games ever without question!
Literally playing this game rn
Had to google Hugo award real quick
I was really informed about the game's production. Thank you for making videos like this.
Dead cells for me. But I totally understand your point.
My hatred of clickbait titles warring with my love of Hades
My favorite indie of all time bought it twice and love it
One of my favorites. It's really amazing to see the fruits of the labor of these talented people.
Hades is a amazing game. The final boss Hades did my dirty the first few fights.
Can you make Hollow Knight next?
I love Hades about as much as I detest the ads and autoplay vids on the wiki.
Greg Kasavin was my favourite guy at Gamespot. Back when that site was good. A long long time ago.
Yep, a really good game indeed!
I was playing this the other day. It’s a fun game 👍

You can't say that the website URL was a 404 error and then not elaborate on whether or not they fixed the error in time!
They did lol I mentioned it later in the video

Its definitely up there.
Obviously this is subjective, and play what you want, but this is easily my favorite game of all time.

Nice clickbait title. Loved the video

perfect game on Nintendo Switch
Wrong! It’s obviously “Truck Simulator 2: Electric Boogaloo”
No mention of the music? What the hell?
He did mention how they scored the incredible music in-house
Interesting video but to claim very few roguelikes have come out since is crazy. Maybe few games that are as mainstream but there are tons of indie titles that have released.
I played it a bit and dropped it. It never clicked with me. It was too hyped up.
There are far better roguelikes, like Enter the Gungeon.
Next video..is every game best ever game ever
DD2 will be the best game ever 🙏
I despise the term "roguelike" as a genre. This game is NOTHING like Rogue. Its like saying Minecraft is a "CoD-like", because you can shoot (with a bow and arrow) and respawn after dying.
You wanna farm some real salt? Do one on Final Fantasy 6 before Chrono Trigger or FF7. Hell do FF9.
I wanted to like the video but its already at 666 and we should leave it at that
Interesting question.... No....
Actually... It is.
Lol no
@@markxv2267 Well I mean... almost
No (I've never played it) *Runs*
*Running away next to you*
Bloodborne is the best game 🎮
I love Hades, but how is this even a question? It absolutely isn’t.
Watch the entire thing buddy
Didn't even make it 45 seconds into the video before commenting
Its a clickbait title
@@GomesHeitorClickbait titles don't deserve comments based on the video.
Lol, this is a series where he says “_____ is the greatest game ever made”
Its the most boring game ever tbh, loved the art style, hate the rogue like mechanics
No it is not. Still very good game though..
Nope, team Binding of Isaac represent 💩
It's definitely great, but it's not even the best roguelike everm ade.
My biggest problem with Hades is how similiar every run is. That's why I would choose Isaac over Hades every time.
Too many detrimental/useless items in that game. I played that game for more than 100 hours and is constantly frustrated by it.
Best game ever? Probably not (and its a very subjective/personal point on view anyway), but its IS a damned very good game!!
Still noo the last faith
Hades is no where near good in my opinion, anything rougelike is a skip.
No
No, everyone knows Elden Ring is the best game ever.
Hades is the most overrated game I've played. Sorry. Roguelikes suck. I love the lore, but button mashy repeat repeat would not even make game of the week for me. For people who like roguelikes I guess it's good for them but I will never understand why they do or what the appeal is.
I DONT GET THE HYPE AROUND THIS GAME. It was repetitive and boring
Not even a little bit, it's ok game but in scale where 10 is perfection and 1 is trash AAA experience Hades is 6
Everything in this game is perfect except gameplay, its not good roguelike
How can a below average game be the best game of all time? I still regret having bought this overhyped PoS.
BELOW is the best game ever made.
Really?
No.
It was too hard for me.
There’s a setting you can turn on that will make the game easier as you die I had to turn this one cause I wanted to finish the story lol it helped a lot
@@zachmiller4575 Really? I'll go back to it then. I was about 60% through then stopped. It got too frustrating
You could have enabled God Mode, you could have used a no-skill build like stacking evasion, etc.
Meh.
idk… after “unbiased” review of Lords of Fallen… when the game was awful at release… i dont believe u anymore
uh no...
NOPE
