I've seen so many people remove and lubricate the jewel at the tip of the balance wheel but to see the pivot spinning freely once the jewel was removed, makes things so much more clear to absolute beginners like me that are still trying to understand the machanics of horology before diving in. Even the world's best have the odd cockup. Not that I'm comparing myself to the world's best, but I think it's important to leave in the errors. With the advent of social media, everyone looks perfect, and everything is perfect all the time. I hate that view of things.
This is excellent macro shots and continuity in editing, I’m not a watchmaker however I have consumed hundreds of hours of watchmaking content and this is professional work!

Hello David, You have inspired me for buying a Prim watch from the Chech republic! Again a few tips, I hope you do not take it as criticism, I just want to help a bit (as far as I can): 1. Try to unscrew the yoke-plate first for half the way (screws still in) and then release the tension of te yoke cover plate by unlocking it on the change-side (the pivot it is sliding to change function). Also helpful when assembling. 2. In prior video’s you used a coverplastic for the yoke spring. That can go bothe ways, in my experience, the plastic can also get stuck between spring and plate, with the consequence … just use a help stick or a help peace of Rodico as ‘gatekeeper’. 3. You missed the under the ratchet wheel the filling ring when disassembling the barrelbridge. It is nice to get that cleaned as well. 4. Just oil (9010] the pivot of the secondswheel first before placing it in (at the bottom and a tiny bit higher on the pivot) 5.use fixodrop (epilame) on the outer ends of the pallet stones and the teeth of te escape wheel. Do not buy the over expensive device (the bottle) to use fixodrop, the fluid itself is expensive enough. Just protect against evaporizing. It will really keep your special grease (9145) better on its place. Greetings from NL, Peter

Fixing a watch is one thing but fixing, filming, editing and narrating is what i'd call a job. It must have taken you a fair while to put this together but the final result is extremely professional, Love it. 38:55 I put the movement dial side up on a case cushion, fit the case over it. With one hand gently press the crystal with your index finger while gripping the sides of the case cushion with your thumb and ring/little finger. Then carefully lift and invert the whole lot. And John Harwood invented the automatic wristwatch so at least we've got that one.
I used to live in Nové Město nad Metují, just down the road from the Prim factory, and somewhere in a drawer I have one of these, but it hasn't worked for years. I'll have to dig it out
That's a very pretty place from what I've seen. Big fan of the old Prims as you can probably tell. I think pretty much all my Czech friends have a Prim sitting in a draw along with the Rybička knife they had as kids. Hell I have one on my key-ring. Good luck if you decide to fix it hope it works out for you.
@@Saving-Time Yes, it is very pretty, but a bit of a one-horse town! Re. the Prim, I think the problem was that one of the screws holding the movement in the case had come loose and had fallen into the movement itself, but I didn't have a screwdriver small enough. So I just put it away and forgot about it, and years of junk have accumulated on top of it.
Might be worth dusting off, the price on some Prim models has gone through the roof lately. The diplomat and the original sport can easily go for over 10k now. Money aside though i think there cool watches to just wear and enjoy. I've only been here for 20 years though so I did not grow up with a Prim in every house and maybe that makes them a bit more exotic for me.
I'm glad, that I found somebody on the big YT servicing our watches. I was born Czechoslovak, living in the Czech part of former Czechoslovakia. We are pretty small nation, but from my point of view, we was making good stuff. Not nowadays, but that's life. Prim watches still exist, but the price is not for everyone. Until the 90's, everybody could buy a "homemade" watches with no problem. Prim Sport 2 was my first ever watches, when i was about 15 years old. On czech sites similar to the Ebay, you can still buy some original parts and watches. Nice video sir, thank you for this! Greets from Czech republic!

Nice work! Applying the “right” amount of lubrication is very tricky, and for me, it’s always either too much or doesn’t look like it touched the part at all. Roger Smith quoted George Daniels as saying (perhaps tongue in cheek), if you can see the oil, it’s too much
I watched and can imagine some diy experiments, Q. could the oiler be a small upside down mounted needle, the eye as a oil loader, the norm spade end must dump a noted amount ! Again, marvellous depth of field for a supp. lens, very good macro photography, and every couple of minutes a useful experience hint ! ( My work field is in electrical/electronic and many years on 1935 Electro/Mechanic Telemetry, which ranged in size from Oil Circuit breakers to relays & phones with some clock size movements. (33kv -1.5V & 6.5K Amps )

Yup i do like a captive spring it's on a few other movements, the spring for the hack on the Sportivnie i did was also captive. Glad you liked the video.
Magnification is good. I have found on mistakes that I'm on the way. I don't do it again. The click for the mainspring, I have heard master watchmaker s call it the Sputnik click. When you look at it it clicks.
Loved the 3d printing hack. I noticed the bolt holding down the ratchet wheel was mostly stripped (see 6.18 minute mark). Did you replace it off camera?
I saw that, too, but 4 months after you did (I just found the channel). He replied to me that, thanks to you spotting it, he was able to replace it off camera.

Hi David found you again presume you have been busy. This is the same movt of my Prim. I just wanted to say that I use my fingers to 🪥 the whole movement. Have done for 30 years glassware is my holder.
The Cal. 66 was probably the best movement prim made along with the Cal. 68 same movement with date. I normally reserve the glassware for my pint :D hope you have been keeping well.

This caliber looks a lot like a LIP R23, the clic, the wheels, the anchor and anchor bridge look the same and the keyless works or basically identical. It would not surprise me because LIP often sold watchmaking machine and patent to soviet country kind of like the seagull chronograph or the soviet version of the legendary T18
It's nothing fancy just an anet a8 around 150 - 200 USD on aliexpress. There are probably better cheap printers now though. You may see more of it on the channel i 3d print a few tools i use and odd bits so i'm sure it will be in another video soon.

The white UHU tack works better than rodico if you want something cheaper and more tacky

I think they based there early watches around the Lip R 25-3 I believe they indeed brought equipment from Lip
