  • We're on a lap of Australia in our Toyota Land Cruiser 200 Series 2011 Sahara. We bought it second hand, and have now added all of the extras and accessories we believe we needed to tackle anything on the big lap of oz. Check out the tour of our tow vehicle, which tows a 3.26T Caravan.

    Thanks for all the great videos, tips and inspiration.
    Been planning a trip for about 2 years now. Got the Van on order (same as urs, Journey 22) and just have to decide on the tow vehicle. I currently have a Triton which I will trade in for a Ford Ranger as it suits me better for work. However, my dream vehicle will be the LC 200. It seems to be the best vehicle for an Aus trip.
    If you had ur time again, would you go the 200, or would a new full touring set up Ford Ranger with GVM GCM upgrade with canopy, draw/fridge slide, rack, AT tyres etc be a serious option for you.
    For me it would similar in cost as I would go maybe a 2012-14 model LC or new Ranger. This dilema is driving me crazy!!

    Great video, one tip, best not to leave the taps in place on your 20ltr water containers when travelling, one knock and you loose the lot. Get some bungs, then there is less chance of this happening.

    Loving the channel 🙂
    Just some quick questions I thought of. Do you guys carry any spare oils / coolants for the cruiser? Also with the GVM upgrades, once it's been registered you can still upgrade the GVM but what's the thing you can't upgrade? I'm also from Victoria.
    When towing, how does the big cruiser do with fuel economy and range with the longer distances?
    We just got back from Adelaide.... was indeed very hot! We are making plans to visit the peninsula... looks amazing! Too late now I know but the Adelaide hills and the town of Handolf are magic.
    Hope that makes sense 😊. We're really enjoying your channel!
    Cheers,
    Paul.

      @todoingfamily  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Paul - cheers for the feedback. It's greatly appreciated. We don't carry any oils, but we do carry spare fuel and air filters. We will rely on regular servicing plus roadside assist if needed. I've practiced changing the filters, so comfortable there, not too much experience on oils other than to get it serviced as and when needed. Regarding the GVM/GCM the laws are different everywhere and seem to be changing. We have the Lovells upgrade, done pre-rego. Ring Lovells as they can tell you what you can and can't do. Thanks for following along and getting in touch. Stay tuned on the Adelaide Hills and Handorf - new Episode about to drop! :)

    Great Video ToDoing Australia & Caravanning we have got a 2010 Toyota LandCruiser 200 series GXL Model and we have fitted it has been fitted with a Steel Bullbar, Safari Snorkel, Roof Rack (Kayak Carrier), ARB Awning, UHF Antenna/Radio, ClearView Towing Mirrors and a Tow Bar on it and we want to know the total weight of the Vehicle since has been fitted with a Bullbar, Snorkel, Roof Rack, Awning, UHF Antenna, Towing Mirrors and Tow Bar on it and do we need a GVM Upgrade and we also are towing a 2022 Jayco StarCraft caravan 19 ft 3 that weighs 2.7 Ton and we have had it loaded with 140 litres of water 18kg of gas and 60 Pieces of cutlery, 60 Cups, Plates & Bowls, about 70 pieces of clothes and 1 spare tyre for the van to go on a road trip from Perth to Cairns and do you know what the total weight of the caravan would be. Do you think that the car and the caravan will be over weight if we get a GVM Upgrade with 4 People and 2 Labs (1 Black Lab and 1 Choc Lab) in the car, a kayak on the roof rack,138 litres of fuel and the accessories that I have mentioned above.

    Do you have any vibration with the Milenco towing mirrors?
    I agree I think the Clearview mirrors are expensive

    • @todoingfamily
      @todoingfamily  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only minor mate, enough to be able to see those wider spots. We have them on super tight though as we had friends who lost one passing a road train! They are expensive, but definite benefits if you can squeeze them in.

    • @V8LC100

      Clearviews are great once fitted you won't go back for towing. No more vibrating clip ons.

    How good is the quality from the rear view mirror image from wireless cameras? Any drop outs or problems?

    • @todoingfamily
      @todoingfamily  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Perfect and super clear. They are Sony Dome Cameras at rear. Check out our external caravan tour to see them. We now use them for reversing out and monitoring the road whilst travelling and they are realy accurate. 👍

    Can I asked what the average fuel economy you got while towing around Australia? Thanks for your helpful videos. It’s been great.

    • @todoingfamily
      @todoingfamily  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      About 23 litres per 100km when towing...it's a heavy rig!

    I suppose you know when you disconnect your caravan, remember to remove the extension mirrors before driving the car on its own, I'm pretty sure it's illegal to have them on when not towing.

    • @todoingfamily

  • @AndrewSmith-pp6ir
    @AndrewSmith-pp6ir 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you want to tow a 2.8-3ton van in a 200 you need a GVM Upgrade to be legal. It is a shame that Toyota dont have that available as std.

    • @todoingfamily
      @todoingfamily  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it is hard work. We have the GVM and GCM upgrades.
