Please let us know what you thought of this homily. We debated releasing it as it touches on deep, heavy grief.

There is no one who lives long enough to know grief, who does not need to hear these affirmations of the depth and power of grief and the Grace that we need to bear that grief and not be forever bowed low to the very ground by it. The grief remains always and it changes us but our journeys continue on. We are never alone and need to lift our eyes up to have strength to make the journey we are on worth the effort of journeying.

Maybe not exactly what you intended but I'm writing a fictional story and this was very helpful in writing one of the main characters. The advice he gives is useful regardless of the faith context so I'm glad you shared the video.

‘Jesus I trust in you’ everything you said I can wholeheartedly affirm... in the midst of my grief I found Jesus, thank God.

This is one of the best messages on grief that I have heard from the church. Often the church fails at helping/loving/supporting people through grief. This was a loving, helpful and very Scriptural message, thank you.

Thank you so very much for this homily on grief. It came at just the right time and answered many questions and guided us to answers. God bless and guide us.

I battle with depression especially not wanting to take medication. My daughter died at age 39 while at home with her 7 children. The oldest being 12 and the youngest was born 5 days before . Every thing was normal til she fell to the floor dead . So much grief and pain for everyone . A baby never knowing his mother and the children not having their mom. Tears flow all day. This message was good to hear and he spoke it from the heart

I am so sorry for your loss. The same event happened in my father's life as a teen. He was the oldest son in a family of 8. The youngest was 2 months old when their mother just dropped dead on the floor. That loss still resonates in the family, yet life goes on and is most often beautiful. May the Spirit fill you with light, with strength, with hope for your own healing and to allow you to spread maternal love to your grandchildren. That loss will never go away but you are still here on an important journey.

This was exceedingly helpful, 9 years after a sudden death. I've been looking for something to help...the advice was sensible and faith-filled. I am so grateful you decided to release this homily.
