A neighbor of mine found love in The Villages. They were both single and had their own homes here in The Villages. They sold both homes bought one together and now are getting married.

That gives us all hope! But seriously I love hearing stories like that… Christine and I both have a friend who is getting married in November and met her husband at Edna’s when she moved to The Villages. Very sweet and so perfect together!

Great video Tina. Thanks for helping a guy get a little insight into Villages dating. I’m relatively new to the Villages and still trying to navigate the waters. I think both of you ladies are the cutest and I hope to see you around sometime. Happy Labor Day!! 👍🏻👍🏻

Glad to hear this was insightful for you. I’m sure you’ll get your footing soon enough in The Villages. It may take a little bit of time to figure it all out but the longer you are here the smaller The Villages becomes if that makes sense… hopefully we will see you around!

This was a great video. I am single widower and it is nice to know what women are looking for from their perspective. It is tough to get back into the dating world after many years of marriage. You have to get through your loss before you can move on. This is a great interview. Keep up the good work.

Yes, I agree we need to keep ourselves open to what might happen relationship-wise -- w/o any preconceived notions/scenarios we may have (which may limit/confine us or our expectations) -- but at the same time, IMO it needs to be natural, and ideally, be a mutual attraction (not one-sided). We also need to "put ourselves out there" to some degree as we won't meet many people staying at home constantly. It's kind of like someone praying for help getting a good job but never going out looking for one!
And in The Villages -- if we stayed @ home mostly -- we wouldn't even see the Mail Carrier...but maybe a FedEx/UPS driver? I mean that IS possible, even if highly unlikely he/she would be suitable "relationship candidates." Still, that's somewhat a limited pool-of-candidates (if you will), I'd say -- FedEx & UPS (!) -- so we'd probably want just a bit more selection. ;-)
Again though, IMO relationships (friendship and romantic both) have to happen naturally...even though KEEPING a relationship going/healthy DOES take some work, and by both sides (not only one).
...but that's another topic in itself. ;-)
    Good luck to us all,
    -- BR

      @LadiesoftheLanai-yb1ns  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Well said. I agree, the best relationships are those that happen by chance/naturally…. You certainly have to put yourself out there as much as you may not feel like it sometimes. Good luck :)

Loved this. I am an Alpha Female as well, which was due to a lot of childhood trauma / abuse. Men were untrustworthy. As I age I feel more confident, safe I find myself wanting to relax more, not be so 'in the drivers seat' and let my man take the lead. So well said. I am not single, married for 25+ years, however this episode touched my heart. Note to self, relax into my feminine energy more often. ♥ Love y'all so much ♥

    Wow. Very
Interesting talk Tina and Krista! Some thoughts…
You both are so open , honest and engaging that I just know that whatever dating status you each are in at any given time that you’d be happy… in a content sort of happy way…
You don’t give off ANY AIR OF DESPERATION which , I bet, goes a long way in just being “ out there” and going with “ the flow”…..
When it comes to a physical relationship…I wonder if newly divorced men or maybe widowed men are more “ pushy”? I do think men are wired to be more physically needy( 😂) and women more emotionally wired…. Like maybe that could be another red flag type thing?
I took away that living in TV is so wonderful, that men and women ( for the most
Part?) are there to enjoy the great environment of TV and that if love comes along then that’s terrific… but that there are so many real
Friendships between people that whatever your love life situation is that you’re surrounded by some
Great people to live life with every day!!
    My 2 cents!!😊
Thanks for an engaging video!!! And 🥂 Cheers to happy dates !!!

So glad I am single, and never married. I dated a lot from 17 to my late 50s, that was enough for me. Yes, I had proposals but turned them down, and looking back now am positive I made the right decisions for me. Love being on my own, making my own decisions, handling my own money...but to each his own. Definitely agree on smokers, never dated one - that was a definite no.

I HATE texting. It is so impersonal.
I am older than you and I prefer to call you on the phone and ask you out.
The problem there is I have to somehow get your number first.
If you tell me that you dont have a phone, then I expect that you are lying, and just dont want anything to do with me. If you dont want to go out, then just say so.
If you are not available or your screening your calls, then I will leave a short message.
If you dont call me back, then I take that as a bad sign.
If you text me, after getting my voicemail, then I take that as a bad sign.
I want to meet in public so we can be face to face. That is so much better and easier.
Meeting face to face allows us to focus on each other, and to get to know each other faster, and allows us to see our expressions and mannerisms when we talk so that we can understand if we are enjoying each other.
Then we can decide if we have a connection and want to meet somewhere more private.
I must be the only person that feels this way. I find that most women just want to stay on the dating website so that they can spend money to chat. I have not found anyone that wants to meet in person.

He was not physically what I thought I was attracted to but when I met him at a friend’s party I was absolutely taken. Unicorns are very rare but do exist. I came with a trainload of baggage. @@LadiesoftheLanai-yb1ns Thanks for your response Tina. My comment was for your guest Krista? ( hope I spelled that correctly) There's already a built in location barrier between us. Sorry going out to eat every day is very expensive. A deal breaker. If the ideal man is 55+ chances he will be sick within a few years. Men in their 50's+ at the Villages are like a women in their twenties. These men can pick and choose. Ladies forget about being choosy. I'm 75 and I guess good looking, There are no age limit to the women I can approach. Honestly, I am quite surprised.

You can only be single once.
If you were married or in a committed relationship, then you can only be divorced or widowed.
If you are 50+ years old, and you tell me that you are single, I automatically start to wonder,
    * have you ever been on a date
    * are you a virgin
    * have you ever lived with a man
If you have dated many men and never been married, then I have to wonder if there is something wrong with you.
    * Are you not mature enough to have an adult relationship?
    * Do you find it difficult to talk about sex and other personal issues, that a couple in a committed relationship would talk about?
    * Why cant you find compatibility with anyone?
    * Are your standards too high?
I find it hard to believe that anyone enjoys living alone.

It is more difficult for a man to be alone than for a woman. Women have girlfriends and activities that keep her interested and busy. The Bible says it’s not good for a man to be alone. But let’s be honest, it would be wonderful if we met our soul companion that’s in good shape, takes care of their health, finances, and body, and has a wonderful life! Most people seem need to exercise more; and get off the diabetes meds. Also, a woman who can’t easily make a nutritious dinner is like a man who can’t pump gas. Ugh. Go carnivore. BBQing a ribeye with butter is easy. And stop with eating any bread and all types of sugar, it’s awful for the body. God wants us healthy.

It’s still 55+ but there are a few exceptions to the rule. One household resident must be at least 55. There is also the 80/20 rule where at least 80% of the residents must be 55 or older and the other 20% may be occupied by those younger with certain restrictions that must be older than 18.
