  • This is a second video on the Renault Clio V. As promised that a test drive will be uploaded soon, this is the delivery thereof.
    See walkaround here: • 2022 Renault Clio V 1....
    The variants on offer are:
    Life: R309 900
    Zen: R324 900
    Intens: R349 900
    Intens (With Option Pack): R364 900
    Renault Silverlakes Contacts:
    Dealership: 012 940 3100

    Since we did not do the detailed walkaround review, we decided to bring the detailed review within the drive rather.
    I have some love-hate relationship with it, it reminded me of the things was not particularly fond of when it comes to the Clio, the shifter is quite rough and needs some serious hard pulls to get into gear, I love smooth-shifting manuals as they add to the fun and helps you work quicker when feeling like driving spiritedly, it was not all gloom though as they finally got rid of the 1.2 and 0.9L 55kw/66kw engines as I was complaining about them, now this engine is a bit more punchy and brings some confidence in overtakes as it is not a heavy car so 74kw/160nm will not necessarily be boring on the long road trips. Yes it won't go up the hill like a +100kw engine but it is somewhat a serious improvement.
    Clio has always been a little sensible than sporty (I am talking normal cars, not R.S) when it comes to the curve and fast cornering, it has not been as agile as the Ford Fiesta (Which I regard as the best in that department) and the Polo which is a forever loved "Let's play" car. However, it has really improved especially with the steering wheel mode settings which really work to stiffen or soften the steering wheel and the ability of the wheels to point to the direction you are asking of them. It can now add some bit of fun in that short town drives.
    In town, the pillar on the right can be quite challenging together with the curves on the car, they seem a little reduced on Clio V compared to IV but the camera is now available to help you take those reverse parking like a pro. It has acceptable handling to some bumpy roads which in this class it is usually just as acceptable.
    Where I never had an issue and even compared to the competition is a feeling of comfort and being in a more cozy, comfortable room for highway travel with above-average insulation for this class in relation to wind and road noise, it is sitting on low profile tyres and I am finding it still one of the best cruisers in this class, it feels well attached to the ground and you really don't get than "tin" like noise or feeling in this car at all, thanks to the choice of materials. So long trips in a Clio are still a tick for me.

      A clean car, only issue is the manual gearbox but besides that, can't fault much on it.

    This car looks good, no doubt. But in terms of reliability and longevity, I hope Renault gets their act up. I've heard a lot of people complaining about the reliability of the car and just getting stuff sorted when something breaks.

    • @sebuwam
      @sebuwam  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think the previous Clio worked hard to calm those reliability issues down a bit and the shortage of parts was mostly owed to availability of Renault cars in the streets. Some parts are now actually just available OTC in the spare stores and thats a great improvement from 5-7 years ago. I agree that in some drastic situations you may have to wait longer. We needed the key card replaced at some point and it was being ordered from France with a waiting period obviously. Luckily we found someone outside the dealership who had them.

      I think it might get a facelift soon but due to the delay we experienced, it might also be delayed. It looks super fresh in the flash because its new to us. I just don't know how they will manage the changes as it came so late

    This one looks good, and I’m considering trading in my 2020 Kia Rio because of 1 reason = Turbo!!! Jeez the car screams on open and highways, especially going up a hill. But unhappy we getting the Clio 4 years after being introduced, let me wait for the automatic but I can’t forget how my friend struggled with his Renault (parts) and begged me to never buy a Renault. Please also test the Polo, it looks and feels so solid but I can’t justify the price once extras have been added, I must also consider the new i20.

    • @sebuwam
      @sebuwam  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They really took time with this one especially considering that it might be due a facelift in Europe soon but have to say this is a great looking car regardless.👌🏾
      I did experience an issue with a Clio key but was sorted outside the dealership as they were going to take time but the more people buy the more parts are readily available.
      The Rio looks nice but not having Turbo is a real issue these days especially as engines are getting smaller and smaller. For some reason I have always been struggling when it comes to the VW products. I struggle to lock a relationship where I can do a review.
      Well I got the i20 here though: th-cam.com/video/-6247sGOfFU/w-d-xo.html

      Eish, I think price was an issue. One of the reasons this car was delayed was pricing. They have to keep it as low as possible and also protect it against the Kiger which is somehow a competition for 1st car these days

    Wow a very improved product indeed, this one I can easily recommend, especially because of updated technology, safety features and price. Not long ago I saw a Polo 85KW R-line at about R510 thousand, and it was not even specked with IQ lights, so I'd rather get the Clio than being robbed on a daylight. Thanks a lot for the video and keep up the good work sir🙏🙏 🙏

    • @sebuwam
      @sebuwam  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks a lot Demtumza. As promised, managed to get time to push for the test drive. 🙂
      I have to say the Polo's 85kw engine is a dream to drive but the price is getting out of our hands. One thing though is that when they discotinued normal TSI golfs, they were trying to manage this as the Polo has actually grown to Golf level, even in technology. So I guess we gonna have to accept that maybe Polo is jut the new Golf TSI🤔

      I think they tried as much as possible to keep the price below R400K and that might have tipped the scale. I understand it might make some people doubt but somehow I forgive it as its not unusual to drive manuals in this class🤔
