  • Renault Clio 1.0 Litre Iconic POV Review
    Hello guys, welcome back to Car Obsession, and welcome to another POV video. This time around it's the brand new, fifth generation Renault Clio, seen here in its 'Iconic' trim level, the one up for the base model.
    It's fitted with a 1.0 litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine which offers 100hp with 165Nm of torque. This power is fed to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual, but the new Clio can also be had with a CVT if you prefer an automatic. There are are also other engines available as well.
    There will of course be a full review coming, but for the time being, I hope you enjoy the ride.

    Ive got the Renault Clio iconic 1.0l 100tce (2020) and I absolutely love it, I had a fiesta before that and I much prefer the clio is just feels a lot more luxurious in comparison to a fiesta

      Yeah, the interior is a nice place to be. Thanks for watching Luke.

    Never was a fan of Renault, but the latest models Clio and Captur seem to be really good. The build quality is much improved over older models. I am normally a fan of Toyota but the Clio interior is far better quality than the new Yaris. Thanks as always for a good review.

    After long scanning review online from trustworthy channels (no idea why you showed up in the results only today. I am subscribing anyway), the choice for me has narrowed down to the Clio (now with the 90Cv 1L engine) and the Ibiza (1L, 95Cv, non-FR).
    In the list of what I want from a car, items from 1 to 4 are "Fun to drive, gives me good driving feelings" (no care for performance and 0-60mph times and the like), item 5 is "Since I have quite serious backbone issues, it cannot come with a hard ride".
    That's (the hard ride) why the i20, whose looks I love, was crossed out. That's why the Ibiza FR was, as well. The Fiesta was never a real option for me, now it's no longer sold anyway.
    I see you have driven a lot both cars, what could you say to help me decide?
    If you happened to test both, how different is the bump protection going from 15" to 16" wheels in the Ibiza?
    thank you

    • @CarObsession
      @CarObsession  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, thanks for watching, apologies in the delay in responding. It's been a very long time since I drove the Ibiza so can't really comment, but from what I CAN remember, I believe the Clio to be a bit more comfortable, but I'd have to drive both cars back-to-back to give you a clear answer.

    • @ikarugaxx3749
      @ikarugaxx3749 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am sure the Clio is more comfortable.
      I could test the 17" FR Ibiza... it managed in style the ordinary bumps and holes... then we met a big pothole, and I received an equally big punch on my backbone :D.
      How different from that would a 15" (or 16") Ibiza without the lowered FR suspension be?
      Maybe you know?
      I mean if it were a 10% harder than the Clio I still could buy it.@@CarObsession

      @@ikarugaxx3749 Hello pal, like I say, it's been years since I've driven the Ibiza so I'd say you're better off test driving the car yourself as opposed to relying on my hazy memory

    • @ikarugaxx3749
      @ikarugaxx3749 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately, they only have the FR for test-driving: SEAT (I don't know why) pushes that version heavy (basically, it's list price is €4000 higher than the others, and then they give you a -1000 discount on the others, and a -3900 on the FR).
      It's impossible to find a used one as well.
      I will either get the Clio, or wait months till a non-FR Ibiza can be test-driven.
      Looking forward to your next videos, and thank you.@@CarObsession

    Not a bad little car, and it's certainly come a long way from the rickety Mk. 1 Phase III Oasis that was my first runabout. I think the natural rival for Renault in this segment has always been Peugeot, so I'd be interested in hearing how it compares to the new 208.

    • @CarObsession
      @CarObsession  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Stephan, thanks for watching. I'm still trying to get my hands on a 208, especially as I did have one booked but it was cancelled due to Covid, but after speaking with PSA Group last week, it looks as if I'm going to be waiting until next year now 👎The same goes for the new Vauxhall Corsa as well because they are also part of PSA Group now.

    I'm swapping out my Mk1 TT for a 2020 Clio. the TT isn't a family car but it will be weird going from 210 bhp with 360nm torque to the 70bhp Clio 😂I do really like the look of the Clio and the interior is really nice but i will miss the pull and speed of the TT.

    The steering is disappointing indeed, but only compared to a Fiesta's and Ibiza's and surely a Mazda 2's. It's still more precise, and preferable to any (other) contender in the supermini class.
    And, also noteworthy, it's one mile ahead the steering of every previous Clio, except the early 90s one, which both you and I have experience with, and was a great car driving-wise.

    Ive always had small hatchbacks but as im getting older I prefer something a bit bigger with better ride quality and more refinement as regards noise from the road, engine and wind etc these days. I dont need an SUV or crossover but will probably go for that sort of car next for ride comfort. Our roads are terrible in the UK

    • @CarObsession

      So sorry my Comment was a bit harsh but, but the Clio V is a lovely lovely car! So I just had to say my current car is the RS Line 1.3 Tce with everything on it. Parks itself lol!!!! Bought it from Renault Cardiff and on the Motorway it has just given me 49 MPG. My TomTom dynamique 62 plate only gave me 28/29 MPG. Speaks for itself! PS I only use Esso 99+ Synergy. No Ethanol!
