We just came back from this ship. The staff was absolutely amazing. I hated the pools, as they’re too small, but it was a really good first experience. The elevators were beyond annoying and I work in an office building with bad elevators.

Thank you for your kind words! Bonaire is certainly on our to-do list. We've already done Aruba and Curacao, so we just need to get to Bonaire to complete the ABC Islands!
Unfortunately, we sailed on the Breakaway (sister ship of the Getaway) prior to launching our website and channel. That said, the Escape is a Breakaway-Plus class ship, so many of these tips should work for your cruise aboard the Getaway, even if they're not exactly the same. Hope you enjoy your cruise aboard the Getaway!
We took the ship to Bermuda in June. We have always been cruising with Royal Caribbean before. We took the ship because the itinerary worked best for us. We loved Bermuda very much. This ship is OK. Appeared to be smaller than I thought it was. All the activities on the top deck seems to be crammed onto one side so it was always crowded. The entertainment was so so. Only one show at the main theater pretty much every night so you run out of things to do quickly. Maybe we were so spoiled by RC. We took Harmony of the Seas before this one. Had a different show every night - water theater, Ma Ma Mia, Figure Skating etc. I mean major shows in the theater, not the singing by the piano kind of show. There is a big screen, piano, bingo right by the customer service/shore excursion table so you can barely hear anything when you need to talk to someone. The food was good. Staff was nice.
One more tip RE: restrooms. they are always in the elevator/stair area on every level. I was thinking of the public decks only, and that may not be 100%, just seems like from my experiences.
That is *mostly* true, but there are some key exceptions. There are no restrooms close to the elevators/stairs on Deck 5 Forward, Deck 6 Forward (they're near the Art Gallery and Comedy Club), Deck 16 Aft, Deck 17 Forward and Aft, and the stateroom decks. Some of these can be problematic if you're participating in an activity nearby and suddenly can't find a restroom where you expect them to be. :)
For us, shortcuts are things that save time without significantly decreasing our enjoyment. In that way, things like Less-Crowded Lunch (#3) and Margaritaville Breakfast (#5) were great shortcuts for us to avoid long lines and still enjoy a similar experience. Hope that helps!
@@TheJellyBeans I would call those tips, not shortcuts, but thanks for clarifying. Also just a heads up that Margaritaville is no longer on the Escape; they must have taken it out when they started their own cruise line 🤷🏻♀
