@@kellyjackson7889 Check out the Down Brownie by Cutthroat Audio. It has a NFB switch for 3 different values, and a whole bunch of other tricks. Not to take away from the Hombre. I've played it and it rocks. Killer amp, great price too.
I heard a guy pumping a Custom Shop Tele through this in a music store in Lincoln the other guy and he made it sound outstanding; round, warm and full, but with clarity.
I wish i was a kid again starting out. All this great guitar, amp and gear talk at your finger tips is priceless. Nice history lesson Pete in this vid.
I appreciate amp and guitar reviews that dont use a bunch of pedals or effects so I can hear the real deal. Pedals have there place but not in an amp review. Thanks soooooo much. Great demo, awsome guitar work.
It is incredible how much we can learn about amps and effects from Pete - besides being amused by his killer playing! I'm not only a happy PT15IR owner after being so much inspired by his playing, but also comprehend much more about pre's, power's, cabinets and pedals simply by watching and absorbing his great weekly content. BTW, the Hombre sounds amazing too! Congrats & thanks so much for all you do, Pete. You're an amazing guitarist, teacher and an absolure class act! (looking forward to best ways to pull off 78 EVH tone from PT15 and a few effects, what about that for a video theme? :) cheers!
I did not know the sound of brown face before. This is the pinnacle of guitar for me, period. I have my reference now and I believe nothing can be better than this
At a time when people (including myself) are buying more gear and making more complex rigs, it's refreshing to hear just how good guitar -> cable -> amp sounds. Absolutely loved this one Pete. That amp is an absolutely stellar piece of gear. I have honestly never even come to being unimpressed by something that John has made and this amp is no different.
My main amp for several years was a '63 brown Concert (4x10 combo with that wonderful harmonic tremolo). That thing was a mini plexi half stack! The Brown Fenders are my personal favourite and the Hombre sounds superb in this demo.
Sir, yyou hit the nail on the head!!On top of the incredible tone out of the Hombre the build quality is outstanding! I watched Psionic Audio's video when he took the Hombre apart and showed us the insides, from that point I went right out and purchased one! I have enough amps already but the sound and the quality of the build far surpassed anything in my music room!
That is crazy man, I love this amp. On order this second. Thankyou Pete for running different guitars through it. I never understood the 335 but it was magic through that amp.
I agree with everything you said about brown era amps except one little detail. Suhr being more reliable. Suhr amps may be as reliable, but not more reliable. Leo knew how to build them right and even 60 years later, they still are rock solid.
This is exactly why the old-timers didn’t need pedals they had amps that sounded like this. Once again you nailed it on this one Pete, muchas gracias Hombre!
Another fantastic review Pete. There are so many variables in amp design , components, schematics, hardwear. It is an art form . This amp is the equivalent of Van Gogh’s Sunflower painting.
This demo is going to sell lots of these. Plugging straight in.. BONUS! So tired of the magic box that is never mentioned but in passing when someone shows off a new guitar or amp all the while raving about the tone no one else will achieve. Nice Job on this.
Pete- thanks so much for your excellent channel! I see so many people today that don't really understand how the old amps worked- they approach tube amps like they're just *amps.* But you know that the amp is part of the instrument, just as much as the strings. With your demos, I can actually tell how stuff works- what it sounds and feels like. Plus it's inspiring to hear someone still playing guitar in more than two dimensions. 👍🏼
Great Demo. I always watch your demos because you are one of the few guitarists who are able to convey lots of info, but not at the expense of playing the amp/pedal. You approach pedals the way I would, although I've picked up more than a few tips from you. Lol. Thanks.
Ace - been waiting for this one. I’ got my hombre a month or so ago and an Alt T this week. I have to wait until everyone else goes out to turn it all up. Thanks Pete great to hear it full on.
if I would produce my videos like you - I would need decades... but: without any doubt you are doing the best job in the net!! Alsway fun to see and hear you!
Senor Hombre! I absolutely love mine. Outstanding build quality and tone for the buck. JS needs to add a brown face Princeton. I'd be a day one buyer based on my experience with the Hombre.
I took your advice and watched the other videos demoing this amp. Your video is the only one that made me want to buy this amp. I think the others missed the boat on what this amp can sound like!
Great demo Pete, thanks for explaining how your able to capture what’s coming from the back, I’ve struggled with getting that via SM57s but man does it sound great, awesome tone machine.
That is my absolute perfect tone of guitars right there! Bought this amp after seeing and hearing this video. Absolutely amazing as usual PT! I would love it if you would go through how you record your guitar tracks with a mic, levels to DAW etc. Thanks
Great video! Thanks for feeding us with knowledge...and your apology about not using Suhr guitar was welcome as this was really the question I've would have asked as we obviously wanted to hear the total package 😊
This amp certainly can punch above its fighting weight. It has some of the best amp overdrive tones I've ever heard, but it is loud. I don't know if it is really louder, or it is pushing certain frequencies that give extra perceived volume. Either way, it is much more pokey than a deluxe reverb.
Such a fantastic demo this Pete. I must have watched it at least 20 times. After this and the Peach video I had to get one. I gig now with my Hombre plus I use it as a cab for my PT 15ir for shows where I need more drive options. Awesome combo. Cheers
What a great review. Clear explanations, good mix of voice over and captions and visuals. Straight guitar without zillions of pedals/effects. On a side note - nice to see a Frayette Power Station in the background.
Pete - it is so nice to hear the rounder tones of the hombre. I am sure the M160 helps, but this and a more modern plexi style amp at the same time would drip with character and have feedback at more controllable sound levels!
Hey Pete... based off your review here and others, I bought one of these wild Hombre's. Great amp in all regards!! I think it would make a great head unit to drive either a 2x12 or 4x12 cab. Thx for a great demo showing what these bad boys can do. Cheers!! 🙂🙃🙂
That sounds great. Awesome video Pete. I own a Brown 62 Vibrolux which I've put a Celestion Gold in. It actually stays clean up to a loud volume. It starts sounding like this when I get it up to 7 or 8. Its so loud that I usually run the amp clean with a pedal . Id forgotten how plexi like these amps can be. With no dip in the mids this amp is an awesome clean platform as well as a rock machine.
I have the amp from the N Stuff Music video you mentioned (the actual amp they used in the video). Love it. Both channels are very musical. It makes any guitar I plug in to it sound great. The amp is very "lively", even when set relatively clean, and takes pedals exceptionally well. The tremolo is to die for.
Yeah, that thing sounds amazing.
Yo Rhett!
I wonder what it'd sound like with no negative feedback (could be a cool switchable feature)

@@LPMojoGL Thanks for the heads up.The DB is more expensive than the Hombe but you get a ton more features and arguably two strong channels.
@@kellyjackson7889 Itll be more dynamic with less headroom more volume but a looser feel
Dang dude smokin as always buddy.
Thanks Robert!
That LP and Tele sounded sooo good through that thing! Nice vid Pete!
I guess I'm kinda randomly asking but do anybody know of a good website to stream new movies online?
@Cameron Makai thank you, I signed up and it seems to work :D I really appreciate it!!
@Francis Moshe glad I could help xD
Boy that guitar panned left into the Marshall - What a tone!
The Brownface era is THE tone I've always had in my head. I love my Tweed clones but I would love to add this to the amp stable.
It’s super sweet, tons of mojo and it’s new and built like a tank. No-brainer!
Sneaking a history lesson in...too cool! Love to geek out and hear John talk about these amps...
single channel amp of the year- character for days!!! the demo song is perfect use of the amp sound.
I heard a guy pumping a Custom Shop Tele through this in a music store in Lincoln the other guy and he made it sound outstanding; round, warm and full, but with clarity.
He said early ZZ honestly I heard a cool 70's Joe Walsh vibe going.
That is one righteous guitar tone my friend! Definitely nailed the ZZ top sound from the early albums. Awesome!!!
A good player, good guitars and a good amp. What more can you ask!!
Thanks for watching!

A great open tone not overly saturated but enough natural breakup. Love the feedback.

Thank you! I will think about that
I have an original one that I bought in 1978 at a secondhand junk shop in Denver Colorado for $35 and it still kicks ass!
Great sounding amplifier.
Nothing better than an amp in the zone.
Pete, you are amazing at sculpting tone. That's one bad "Hombre"
OMG through the Marshall 4x12 with green backs was unreal!! The stock speaker too bright for me..... the greenbacks were perfect!
Hi Pete. The M160 has a hyper cardioid polar pattern. While similar, is not, technically, a figure 8 polar pattern. Love your stuff.
I did not know the sound of brown face before. This is the pinnacle of guitar for me, period. I have my reference now and I believe nothing can be better than this
Fender Brown! So much character, and musical richness!! These should be way more popular.

I immediately connected with the sound of this amp. (and those guitars!!) Really awesome.
I just bought this amp from Angele City Guitars in the valley because of this. Thanks again.
pete thorn with headphones and guitar face is giving me some paul gilbert vibes!

Straight into the amp Pete Thorn is my favorite Pete Thorn
That is crazy man, I love this amp. On order this second. Thankyou Pete for running different guitars through it. I never understood the 335 but it was magic through that amp.
I think the Beyerdynamic M160 is hypercardoid, the M130 is the figure of 8 one. I also have this amp, Great Video!
Sounds so tasty! 👌

Pete, you can make a tin can at the end of a string, sound good.

Love your "Amp in the zone" series...
Can't wait for the next ones !
Cheers
I’ve been starting at these amps since at saw it at Namm, my goodness does it sound BEAUTIFUL
Nailed the ‘scene change in 90s sitcom’ tone at the beginning (a compliment)
I'm a Vox guy, but I'd be perfectly happy with this amp. In fact, I think it's the best sounding amp I heard in years. Love it! ❤️
I really appreciate that you used a LP and not a Suhr guitar in this video, mostly because i mainly play LPs and Teles
Amazing, I Love both the Left & the right speaker sounds, you get some beef and some jangle! This Amp is Just So Sweet...
Hats off to Suhr team great job, spot on the money
Eaarly ZZ-top was all I was thinking hearing those first notes. Awesome amp, and awesome playing as always.

I had a 62 Deluxe, This sounds just like it!
Killer. Sounds fantastic. I love the simplicity.
Pete, PLEASE STOP! I just dropped the coin for the PT15IR head and now I want this! Cool stuff
This is the I
Old sound I'm always chasing its almost there.just like you say Pete its an extension of the guitar.right on the edge but controllable.

Thanks Pete! Really enjoy your channel and especially your playing! ZZ Top is a sweet spot for me.
The amp and guitars sounds are exquisite. The playing highlights the qualities of both masterfully . A great demo.
Great sounding amp. The price point is stellar as well. I’m looking hard at this one in the future.

This is one amp that when I heard it I wanted it. Great opening jam, now start a super group called The ThornByrds!
Love the ZZ Top vibes- so tasty. Wonderfully musical review Pete!
Thanks!
Senor Hombre! I absolutely love mine. Outstanding build quality and tone for the buck. JS needs to add a brown face Princeton. I'd be a day one buyer based on my experience with the Hombre.

That intro.. god damn

How many people out there are able to truly crank amps like this? Not me, living in the city. Sounds absolutely fantastic.
A head version of the Hombre would be awesome, as I could then use it with all my cabs.
Sounds incredible! But you would even make a microwave sound good...Kudos, Pete 👏
Thank you Charles!

I just picked one of these up and it's a loud 18 watts. Works with live drums in a room.
MAN that sounds KILLER! Might even be one of the best bridge humbucker sounds I've heard!✨
Hell yes! Good stuff. I also love the pure joy of plugging straight into an amp.

Great video, Pete. It sounds fantastic by it self, but I can't believe how great it sounds through your Marshall 4x12 cab.
Why the heck would you want a modeler when you could have this sweet little thing for a similar price???
Silent playing? Lots players have entered married-w-kids stage in life where playing loud is just a rare luxury
Maybe because they play completely different roles?
Wow Brian, by far you're most insightful comment to date!

Holy Tres Hombres! That amp is wonderful.
Dude however you recorded that was sick!! Sooooo good! Love the 335!
