Skaters need to start saying "no" to filmers who ask them to try a trick they already landed again. It seems to be a common theme for a skater to get hurt when asked to do a gnarly trick again.
@@infinidominion 'just do it again'. There are so many factors included into doing tricks off of, over or on to large objects, gaps and drops. Someone could've performed a trick thousands of times succesfully, but if they fuck up once and fall from great height their life might be over in a split second. I work with people who have non birth related brain trauma, and let me tell you: shit is no joke. The fact that street skaters dont wear helmets for aesthetic purposes is their choice, but even if they come out looking unscathed, brain trauma will forever change who you are and render you useless to society and most people around you. I'd rather live to see another day than have a hall of meat clip and have no quality of life left
^This. Imperfect landings sometimes look better anyway, like it reflects how gnarly the trick was. Like now everything looks effortless but that's because we don't see all the terrible slams it takes to get those perfect makes.
The health insurance thing is really insane, I can't imagine being in that position and not snapping on the person who is asking me for money instead of paying attention to the gaping hole in my head. In Europe you go to the hospital and the first thing they do is make sure you're okay and not dying or something. Hearing that he had to show his bank account first before they would even think of helping him is just messed up. Thank god I live in Europe

I don't see the sense in defending such an obviously terrible system? Like, even if you're covered, are you stoked to see a 50k bill for a broken ankle or some shit? It's honestly ridiculous. Astronomical medical costs in the US ultimately affect what insurances cover, how much premiums are, quality of care that we get etc etc. It's objectively not a good system and that's a hill I'll die on (hopefully not literally).

A 0.7 mile travel on an ambulance to the hospital cost me $1,300 in 2014. In LA, but still insane lol PLUS another $300 for the benadryl they shot me up with too. Thankfully I was underage so it was covered under my moms low income medical insurance but had I been 18, I would have have to come up with $1600.

When it's not a for-profit-business, hospitals and doctors are not interested in overcharging insurance companies who then raise insurance premiums for patients and together make the whole system unaffordable. Over here, hospitals' priorities are to save the patient to the best of their abilities, not to make a profit, and luckily most people in this country prefer that system.

The issue is not the health care system. The issue is skate teams not enforcing their riders to wear helmets. It's ridiculous that this segment was more focused on the health care system then the importance of wearing a helmet.
