Thank you for always answering MY comments, Dan, for the boxes full of money you send because MY comments are so awesome, lol! You and Dani rock! Love what you're doing with "Two Lane Blacktop."
Danny definitely does not spend as much time as you did editing. I love how it translates into behind the scenes comedy. My wife is a great brake bleeder 😂
I’ve got a gear vendors overdrive unit thrown in my 84 Chevy k10 pickup. It’s mounted behind a th350 and np208 transfer case. Took me 4 months or so to get but over the last 5 or so thousand miles it’s been great. The company has been good about helping with any issues I’ve had. I just let it do it’s thing automatically most of the time. Makes highway driving so much better.
Dan you should consider installing a reverse cut-out switch that turns off the gear vendor solenoid when the car is in reverse. That way you never have to worry about forgetting it is on. Maybe your luck is better than mine, but I can GUARANTEE I would forget it was on and kill it. Just run the GV solenoid ground wire through the reverse cut-off switch and you won't ever have to be concerned with accidentally leaving it engaged in reverse. Just a thought to prevent Murphy's Law from occurring!
I am surprised you haven't tried a 200-r4 transmission from California Performance Transmissions. They are warranted up to 1000HP and are incredibly stout! PLUS they can be put into all "A" Bodied cars like my 72 Chevelle with only a small hole in the floorboard for the shift cable. PLUS they fit in all "A" bodied cars with NO tunnel modifications. As in they fit in place of the TH350 or the TH400 as bolt in with only sliding the transmission crossmember back and drilling two new holes in the frame rails. It just doesn't get much easier to install. PLUS you get a 4 speed OD transmission inside of which all four gears are stacked as a "close ratio set". Very much like the old M-22 rock crusher without the whine. Ratios: (2.74, 1.57, 1:1, 0.67) Note the spacing. This is a true close ratio model. Perfect for drag racing or just cruising. I get 70 MPH @2700RPM in my 72 Chevelle with a 3:73 diff ratio, which is totally satisfactory for me. Try it, you'll like it! Art Carr at California Performance Transmission is the only guy in the nation who is reliably building this Transmission. Call him and talk to him. He's a 100% straight shooter. Remember 1000Horse Power warranty!
A couple VERY IMPORTANT GV quirks to remember- It cannot be run in reverse. There is a one way gear (or whatever it’s called) that can only be run in forward gears. It’ll break if you just bypass the controller and run it off a switch while forgetting to turn it before putting the trans in reverse. The controller is recommended for this reason because it will prevent you from doing this. Also, the GV unit needs some rpm in forward motion before engaging it. If you run it off a manual switch from a stand still, you could hurt it. Another reason the controller is a good thing to use. If you don’t use the controller, you need to really pay attention to what you’re doing so you don’t damage it, and in that case you’d never want someone else to drive the car. Just looking out for you. I’ve had 3 of them over the years.
You guys aren't going to nearly as entertaniing when Dan gets a lift. Your verbal interchange with Dan under the car is priceless! Dan. Summit has speedo delete plugs from several suppliers.
Got the gear vender in 69 Torino, 428 CJ. behind a C6 trans... IT'S the shits man. 11.2 in the 1/4 mile, on NOS. Dam thing is tested, bullet prove, 502 hp on the dyno, and 560 torque.
Gearvendor I have one on my 1984 scottsdale c10 for 30 years the 3,08 rear gear was to high for the 455 olds , I just used and floor dimmer switch to kick in overdrive when you slow down 20 mph the unit drops out by its self there is a pump in the unit the pressure drop once you get going again you can put back in overdrive . There were like $5000 back then but still works great and lasted longer than Three TH400 transmissions .
Hey Dan the gasket is specific thickness I tore mine as well I talked with Dave at gear venders great guy and that’s what he told me it will throw the measurement of if it’s thicker I have spare gasket and just measured it .015 thick goodluck
Hey Dan, Google "How to install a Currie 9-inch Axle/Explained". This video will show you how to do the Axles on your nine-inch !!! Glad the Gear Venders fits so nice !!! Rave- On Danni and Dan !!!
Dan, Daniel my brother... This car is going to be so nice. It's great watching you deal with top notch, new stuff. I've watched you struggle with junk for so long! I googled the price of these overdrives and you aren't cutting any corners on this build. Congrats to you and Danni. You guys are the very best! God bless you both ✝️🙏 Signed - Your friend, Cancer guy. 🙂
Dan, you have a punch for making holes in gasket material. Just use a piece of 3/8 steel fuel line. You can even get fancy and take it to the grinder to sharpen the end. That's like hackery 101. Use what you got.
wait what its friday ???? Hot dam Howdy Dani, Dan Here, DDspeedshop ....... love the extra vidja Was hoping this would be a separate one Thanks for that
After laying on a creeper and getting my hair caught in a wheel is what made me start braiding it every morning.....on riding days it even had a few beads in it. When I made my own gaskets I would paint both sides with Gaskacinch.
Hook the coill wires of a 12vdc relay up 2 your reverse lights of your xmission and run the Vendor enable wires (solenoid wires) 2 thru nc contacts on the relay. Then if u 4get and put it in reverse with the Vendor turned on, the relay contacts will open and shut off the Vendor.
I have a GV overdrive unit in my 70 BB El Camino behind my mild TH 400 transmission. Very rugged unit. Not the most over-driven OD ratio but it’s just okay. There are OE transmissions out there with better OD ratios.
Hey.....had an idea..... your reverse lights turn on when in reverse.....tap 12 v from that line.....use a relay....solid state one would be best.....and have it supply the switching of power to your on off switch under the dash. It seems to me that your gear vendor is too costly to take the chance,. The 12v relay would be wired normally ON. The 12v power from the back up lights would cause the relay to disconnect the main power 12v from the gear vendor.... just a thought....Gary
Dan , anytime you have an automatic tranny out of a car or truck . Do yourself a favor drill a hole in the back of the pan and weld 1/2 of a collar and put a plug in it. No transmission oil on the floor. Great for servicing filter
Hi Dan, watching your struggles with the gasket. The Gear Vender looks very similar to the old Laycock overdrives on old Triumphs and MG,s. I wondered if any of the gaskets could be used ? I seem to remember the old style UK overdrives had inhibitor switches to prevent them being used in first and second but especially reverse as I think they don't like going backwards. Not sure if that's a thing with the new ones but if you accidentally leave it switched on you could put in reverse. I sent this while watching and you mention this at the end. Can you wire in a switch off the reversing lights, shifter. Look forward to seeing it running.
Dan the speedo gear if I were you I’d use the gear drive housing in the 400 and just gob the center with silicone. Because I don’t think anything else will stay in the whole that you try to rig. And that green gear maybe for a 700
I did not see the graphic content warning on the description. I wonder if putting a 200 4 r or 700 r 4 transmission would have been easier and less expensive, I saw the gear vendor prices and they are not cheap. Any way great video minus the graphic content.
Isn't there one of the gearbender gaskets that is actually a gasket/shim that is a specific thickness? I think it was an episode of "Questionable Garage" with Jared Pink when he was installing one on the Cannonball Run ambulance and had all sorts of issues trying to get it sorted.
I am an engineer, but not an EE. And I don't have your schematics in front of me. However, it seems like since this thing is electrically operated, there should be a way to use the reverse light switch in the shifter to disengage the gear vendor when you put the car in reverse.
The thing about not reversing with the overdrive engaged. Can you wire it so it turns off when the reverse light comes on? I know I'd forget to turn it off myself.
I like everything about the gear vendor, EXCEPT for that caveat about not engaging reverse when in OD. That seems like a very real possibility because people can forget.
Turnin Rust did a few videos where they didn't talk because people were complaining they talked too much. The viewers just roasted them over an open spit about it!!!😂 Just goes to show that you can't please them unless they are complaining....
Dan talk to your buddys and see if you can incorporate a kill switch in the shifter on the reverse touge That way every time you go for reverse it will shut down your gear vender. maybe like on your reverse light switch. A little though will save you a lot of money
Thank you for always answering MY comments, Dan, for the boxes full of money you send because MY comments are so awesome, lol! You and Dani rock! Love what you're doing with "Two Lane Blacktop."
I see all sorts of other you tubers use gearvenders but never show how to install. Thanks. Now I know. Nice to see you explaining how to
Danny definitely does not spend as much time as you did editing. I love how it translates into behind the scenes comedy. My wife is a great brake bleeder 😂
Making calls live from under the car thanks for keeping the chaos real at DD SPEED SHOP 😅
Definitely a nice looking Unit Dan and Dani coming along nicely
Pretty cool set up, i vote put it on the Nova gasser and put the tremec in the 55 😊
This is so cool a DD Speed Shop video I've never seen you guys post a video at midnight
Dude!!! Don't forget the gear oil anyway!!! Daniel amazing!!! Camara action!!! Good job!!!✌️

Thank you for the midnight video. Sweet new transmission part sweet. With over drive. Keep up the great work.
I'm digging DD Speed Shop Late Night Friday Theater! Nice
Congrats on installing the gear bender!
I use an old craftsman 10 mm socket ground down to punch out holes in gaskets . Works great

DD Speed Shoppin 24/7, how cool is that? Good thing Mer had gasket material. Cheers!! 😊
I've had to make gaskets from cardboard boxes before.

Can't wait to see how thos works out, I have wanted one of these for a while

might need a bolt on over drive on my truck, be nice.... great video mate.
You could get yourself a GPS speedo. Then it doesnt matter what you change. Its always accurate. Cheers Dude.
“One finger is all we need” new T-shirt slogan?❤️🇨🇦

Dd speed shop ingenuity if it works it works 😂
Well dang just going to bed I'll have to watch in the morning.
I'm digging the green cowboy boots!!!
I'm classy now
@@DDSpeedShopriiiight 👌🤣
Another thing that works for punching holes in gaskets is sockets . Make perfect hole.
Good times 🎉 like the gear bender. The gear gets bent and you go faster 🎉
I didn’t realize these were electric solenoid powered like the borg Warner one on my t85 in my studebaker
The Friday that keep on giving!!! MINT
fantastic video. very informative. thanks for taking the time to show us all your mechanical knowledge. !!
Cereal boxes make the best gasket material. Haven’t bought a gasket in years.
Thanks for the late night show😊
Hey Dan, Google "How to install a Currie 9-inch Axle/Explained". This video will show you how to do the Axles on your nine-inch !!! Glad the Gear Venders fits so nice !!! Rave- On Danni and Dan !!!
A midnight video here in Chicago 😮

Yeah there's a few bucks in this hotrod haha
new '55 chev video from Dan at chop cut and rebuild speed shop , i'm all over it ♥

That's a good tech tip!
Tip for making the bolt holes use a socket and Hamer on any hard surface
wait what its friday ???? Hot dam Howdy Dani, Dan Here, DDspeedshop ....... love the extra vidja Was hoping this would be a separate one Thanks for that
aviation form a gasket works amazing in your type of situation!!
After laying on a creeper and getting my hair caught in a wheel is what made me start braiding it every morning.....on riding days it even had a few beads in it. When I made my own gaskets I would paint both sides with Gaskacinch.
Bench seats rule! Have them notched for 4 speed shifting. Happy miles!
Brass cases from freedom seeds makes excellent gaskets punches
Empty bullet casing or a stationary store hole punch would help with hole punching, too!
I be liking this build !
He's got caller id 😂😂
Here we go again 👍👍
Thanks for sharing this video with us love the 55
Great build on the 55
RTV is yer best friend today Dan!
Not sure if I'll be awake long but gonna try
Awesome add on
Struggling on my back just like in the bedroom, haha.Man I'm a Firebird, GTO guy but thanks to you I want a two lane 55 so bad I can taste it now.
Haha thanks buddy!
Late Night with Dan!
Just a though, use the 12v for the backup lights to energize a relay to disconnect the Gear Vender.
I feel you on the specialty parts, I ordered a Delta PAG fan set up for my 62 Pickup 10 weeks ago. Smh
Keep after it!
Ouch! That's a long wait
Aircraft specialty and spruce has caps for tach drive and speedo I think it was Lycoming I ordered same problem I had. They hooked me up.
Use the reverse light switch to bypass the overdrive solonoid
good job!
I have a GV overdrive unit in my 70 BB El Camino behind my mild TH 400 transmission.
Very rugged unit.
Not the most over-driven OD ratio but it’s just okay.
There are OE transmissions out there with better OD ratios.
If you place new gasket on intended flange you can punch holes with small ball peen end, just FYI
Hey.....had an idea..... your reverse lights turn on when in reverse.....tap 12 v from that line.....use a relay....solid state one would be best.....and have it supply the switching of power to your on off switch under the dash. Getting there Dan
Dan , anytime you have an automatic tranny out of a car or truck . Do yourself a favor drill a hole in the back of the pan and weld 1/2 of a collar and put a plug in it. No transmission oil on the floor. Great for servicing filter
Bullet casings make good gasket hole punchers!
Loving the content.
Just hook up a relay that switches off the power to the gearvender when the reverse light comes on 👌
Car is looking good
Nice install and crazy boots 😂

❤❤ love your videos awesome😊
On the reverse, maybe use a relay wired to your reverse lights, with the relay set to shut off the OD when powered on?
Dan the speedo gear if I were you I’d use the gear drive housing in the 400 and just gob the center with silicone. Because I don’t think anything else will stay in the whole that you try to rig. And that green gear maybe for a 700
Little late, come on Danielle get it together.😂 you get my shop shirts 👕 in yet?

Don't forget the vacuum line to the transmission
Yeah its on the long list of things to do haha
Hole making punch set is on sale at our favorite store Princess Auto
Ooooo
Late night post!
WOW ! IT'S LIKE DEJVUE ALL OVER AGAIN..
STARTED WATCHING LAST NIGHT OR AT LEAST I THOUGHT....
😅😅😅
The thing about not reversing with the overdrive engaged. Can you wire it so it turns off when the reverse light comes on? I know I'd forget to turn it off myself.
Small tubing scrap makes for good hole punches for gaskets...
Cool! It’s gonna be good
I like everything about the gear vendor, EXCEPT for that caveat about not engaging reverse when in OD. That seems like a very real possibility because people can forget.
The plastic speedo gear slings oil to keep the rear seal lubed. I think lol
Good to see you wrenching on the O.G....Original Gasser 😂
Turnin Rust did a few videos where they didn't talk because people were complaining they talked too much. The viewers just roasted them over an open spit about it!!!😂 Just goes to show that you can't please them unless they are complaining....
An NC relay between the gearvendor power and reverse lights would stop you from killing it. I would forget to turn it off manually the first day.
Paper shopping bag gasket for the win
Friday video!!!!!!
More work less talk. YES
That new seat you and Dani can set closer when you're cursing the streets look like in America graffiti lol ❤
Dan talk to your buddys and see if you can incorporate a kill switch in the shifter on the reverse touge That way every time you go for reverse it will shut down your gear vender. maybe like on your reverse light switch. A little though will save you a lot of money
put the tear at the top, little silicon and back together.
