Fine review but rather shocked by the cost of the food. (I stayed in a 4-star on the beach at Seminyak and was spending about £20/day on F&B inside the hotel.)
Been looking at BA Holidays today. Some amazing value to be had in January.

I know, the food and drink prices were really high for Bali. Really great quality though, so although I know I could have got great food for a lot cheaper elsewhere, I have no regrets! Nice, I’ll have to take a look at the sale.

Excellent review as always. Your suite was as good as it gets and bigger than my first house utilising Amex benefits to the full. I agree with previous post that Bali offers a wide range of good priced accommodation closer to local amenities which we have used in the past but I think your post may attract people to 5 star Asia ahead of 3 star short haul for the same price. Thanks

Nice review. Personally I think that the Platinum card once you go past its sign up benefits doesn't offer a lot of value going forward with its astronomic annual fees. So I stick with the BA Amex card which also is starting to become a lot more expensive. In terms of this 4 night stay, £1,200 is a lot for SE Asia considering it was effectively bed and breakfast with a £100 food voucher thrown in. When it comes to these sorts of resorts its nice to eat in the hotel to enjoy the quality of the restaurants but for such a resort I would be looking for somewhere you can get to quickly to try the local more authentic cuisine at a fraction of the price.

The platinum works well for me, but definitely isn’t for everyone. I do make very good use of priority pass and the dining credits. So the occasional hotel benefit and other perks are very nice to have on top. I earned a lot through spending on the platinum over the last year too as they gave me a few months of 4 points per £ as part of a referral bonus, and then when that expired I earned another that gave me 3 points per £ for a few months.

Interesting video. Never thought about the hotel benefits of the Platinum card. Are we ever going to hear from Kelly?

It’s a benefit that I always completely disregarded too! She’s not too keen, but maybe someday. She’d definitely make the videos more interesting!
