they both use capacitive touchscreen. so yes it has the same touchscreen technology as g1 and iphone. if u mean it doesnt support multitouch like g1, ur partially wrong. the european version (milestone) gets multitouch but the us version doesnt. u cud import an unlocked gsm european version to the states.
finger touch sensitive - its capacitive touchscreen and the gsm version of droid (called milestone) supports multitouch. it works using electrical current thru the screen and since ur skin is a conductor of electricity, it knows where u hv touched it. i wudnt say heat bcos u cud heat a piece of nonconductive material and it wud not recognize where u hv touched it. this means no stylus (except pogo stylus specially designed 4 capacitive touchscreens)
Two words: "with Google" The U.S. version is Google branded, and therefore has to offer the "Google Experience", which basically means no customizations. The DROID does support multitouch, just not in the browser.
go back to the verizon store and have them replace your battery then. i leave my phone on at work (9 hours), have an AIM app running, playing music for over 4 of those hours, send a couple texts, even use the browser during lunch and i still have 40% battery left when i get home.
i would definitely take the droid. the storm 2 doesn't look much different than the storm except the sensors on the screen. this phone really is one of a kind and will be tough to beat for a long time to come.
Do they have a second version of this phone coming out soon? Please let me know because I'm supposed to be buying one, but if they're upgrading I might as well wait.
@jayrat1 How the typing on this phone? And the touch screen. I need to know. Thanks. I hear people complain about the keyboard, does it get better with time? Or is it useless?
Ok, i have this phone and i was wondering what the little green light flashing at the top right means mine does it sometimes but not always im just curious.. :/
it has less apps than iphone, but it allows open development so no rules on the apps. it has a potential for more apps and cr8in an app is easier 4 android. android will get flash so u can play many games from online sites and watch video from several sites. iphone only allows utube cos of utube app. so if u compare its app store and all flash games & videos on the internet, u hv more than the apps store. analysts predict android will be 2nd most used phone os by 2012, after symbian.
how much is this monthly with the $29.99 data plan? just wondering..thinking about getting it and this would be my first Smart phone..all my others were 3g multimedia
Yea i noticed that.. I mean when i saw this phone i compared it to iPhones that friends of mine had and it seemed more difficult.. It might take more time to get used to but i also believe its better. I'm definitely gona get it :D
i was thinking about buying a new cell and i was between this and iphone.. what would u suggest? i rlly like both and i cant choose.. im going towards this but if any1 got any suggestions feel free to reply..
I got it, and Verizon/Motorola nailed it with this phone. Google Maps is a super useful application with the phone. Once they come out with Itunes for the Droid, this will blow the IPhone away completely. Another plus is you don't have to deal with the horrible service provided by AT&T or T Mobile, or whatever company they call themselves today. I left AT&T years ago just because they had no clue about the concept of Customer Service.
It really is; I'd actually prefer it to the iPhone if you are using AT&T if you have an unlocked one and using another gsm the iPhone is a lot better, but I'm in northern maine and we have no 3g service in the whole state from AT&T and i have 3g from Verizon.
@quest8899 both are actually pretty good but the droid has bigger resolution with 854 x 480, and bigger screen, picture flash, soon it will get flash for browser to view youtube videos right on the browser instead of a dedicated app. All in all, the droid is better.
Should I get this phone over the Dare. Because I don't see how this thing is that much better. It costs 30 bucks a month when I only pay 15 for the Dare. And if you think i should switch could you say why
I just read about it in PC World. They said that when they looked into the plan it was a 5GB cap. even though it said unlimited. I'm just going off of what I read.
@leiferickson123 well not exactly outdated but it's getting really slow compared to newer Droids or any other Android phone. The hardware is getting a little old. It's still a good phone and it gets the job done, but some apps just need a more powerful phone to get a better experience.
@0legacyking0 no its not my friend has the droid she had it for a week she didnt even drop it and it started freazing up the keyboard buttons started to pop out and now shes getting the env touch
@krngrl97 I would really look at the straight facts. The Moto. droid has been out for a while and the Incredible is truly incredible. It really comes down to a keyboard v.s. a higher camera res. Still both phones are amazing and they are definitely a show stopper. The red on the incredible might be something you might not like to be looking at for 3-5 years while you have this phone. Choose wisely fellow consumer. Im picking the Moto Droid if that helps.
My phone has a lot of minute, unlimited txting, voicemail, etc. but no web because it's just an enV2. How much more will this cost me? I want internet, texting, and maybe a little calling (not much, most of my friend and family are on verizon, so that is free).
my thoughts exacly, everyone is talking about how the droid is better than the iphone. the way i see it that may b true for now but consider the fact that the droid may be going all in too soon. part of the reason the iphone has been such a success is that they r slowly making it better. keeping ppl interested.
I had one of these. It would freeze/lock up constantly, crash at least once a month, requiring a hard reset. Then a strip of touch portion on the screen stopped working. After that, all the external buttons quit working. Next to the Palm Pre, it's the biggest piece of crap ever.
@kungfufreak360 i agree haha i just got my ENV TOUCH which i love but a freakin month later this phone comes out WTF Verizon let us know these things more in advance!!
just to make sure for people who wonder if DROID has a bad touch screen... Well it does have a great one that is just as sensitive or even more sensitive than the iphone. Also, the screen is a bit bigger with better quality. It is sooo much more crisp than the iphone..... I compared with my friend who loves his iphone 3g s. He doesnt like the iphone now and likes the droid... LOE DROID!!!
@WryterMike, I always think it's funny when they tout customization for android phones we call that "iPhone 200..." wait... no... never mind... I forgot the iphone isn't customizable D:
The two devices are not even in the same game. The DROID is far more advanced and feature rich. But I certainly cant tell you how much money per month is too much - that's your call.
What part r u refering to when u said "that's not true"? I'm pretty sure u didn't understand what I meant by "improved" ur taking it for face value, completely missing the point of what I said
wow really? how long did it take you to come to that conclussion? Let's think for a moment, iPhone and G1 came out before the Droid... therefore... the Droid follows. It's like the G1 because well... it's running the same OS (newer version), it's like iPhone bc it's a touch screen smartphone? I don't understand your logic. 2 ways to do keyboard, virtual/physical. again, explain how it's not possible to compare to other touch screen smartphones?
Europe. O2 in Germany starting on the 9th of November. Other markets sure to follow, but don't expect it in the U.S.
The homescreen wallpaper can be set to any image you like.
The GSM version is probably not a "with Google" branded phone, and as such is allowed to have customizations - just as was done on the HTC Hero.
they both use capacitive touchscreen. so yes it has the same touchscreen technology as g1 and iphone. if u mean it doesnt support multitouch like g1, ur partially wrong. the european version (milestone) gets multitouch but the us version doesnt. u cud import an unlocked gsm european version to the states.

The indicator moves a lot, yes, but that has no real bearing on anything. The reception is quite good.
Possible, sure, with other apps and tools maybe. But in general there is no normal way to change the background of the menu. No setting for it.
Two words: "with Google"
The U.S. version is Google branded, and therefore has to offer the "Google Experience", which basically means no customizations.
The DROID does support multitouch, just not in the browser.
You should be able to use Yahoo just fine. I used two AIM accounts during testing w/o problem.
go back to the verizon store and have them replace your battery then.
i leave my phone on at work (9 hours), have an AIM app running, playing music for over 4 of those hours, send a couple texts, even use the browser during lunch and i still have 40% battery left when i get home.

@munkycheeeeeez i'm pretty sure its for reception quality. not sure tho
When doing the voice dialing, is there a way to stop the google voice notification from popping up?
You should review the Media-Player for us. I would like to know how the speakers are, because my iPhone sucks at high vol.
nice i hope part 2 touches on battery life if this thing cranks out good battery life its going in my pocket on the 6th
A solid day of pretty heavy use is no problem. Two days with more moderate use.
to view in landscape do you have to keep the keyboard out the whole time?
@jayrat1 How the typing on this phone? And the touch screen. I need to know. Thanks. I hear people complain about the keyboard, does it get better with time? Or is it useless?
Does the Droid have equalizers at all? Specifically, does it have the ability to create your own custom equalizers?
I think the DROID is a better smartphone choice for consumers than the TP2. And yes, I could easily survive wit this as my day to day phone.
Interesting that the GSM version of this HAS multitouch but skips out on Google's new turn by turn navigation software
Ok, i have this phone and i was wondering what the little green light flashing at the top right means mine does it sometimes but not always im just curious.. :/
I was thinking of getting this phone but is it possible for it to use wifi in my house instead of paying for internet? Thanks for any help.
it has less apps than iphone, but it allows open development so no rules on the apps. it has a potential for more apps and cr8in an app is easier 4 android. android will get flash so u can play many games from online sites and watch video from several sites. iphone only allows utube cos of utube app. so if u compare its app store and all flash games & videos on the internet, u hv more than the apps store. analysts predict android will be 2nd most used phone os by 2012, after symbian.
how do you zoom in when using the camcorder?
how much is this monthly with the $29.99 data plan? just wondering..thinking about getting it and this would be my first Smart phone..all my others were 3g multimedia

should i get this or the droid eris? im upgrading and i would like to kno what to uograde to also PRICING MATTERS for me
do you need the data plan? cans oemone asnwer?
i got a question do you need any sort of data plan for it?
Should I get this phone over the Dare. Because I don't see how this thing is that much better. It costs 30 bucks a month when I only pay 15 for the Dare. And if you think i should switch could you say why
I just read about it in PC World. They said that when they looked into the plan it was a 5GB cap. even though it said unlimited. I'm just going off of what I read.
Does this run on normal Verizon phone plans? 70 bucks for unlimit data/pic,vid txting?
is this phone really good, i have a blackberry storm and i am fed up with it and need a new phone is this a good replacement?
it was? i never knew that.. cause I experienced the Droid from someone else, and i didn't get enough detail...
i have a question what company is better sprint , verizon, at&t , or t moblie ( by better i mean cheaper )
How long does the battery usually last?
64gb micro sdxc card, confirmed to work on it. I got the video. Its also overclocked to 1ghz and there is a 4.1.1 upgrade available for it.
@Srslol It comes pre-installed with a 16gb micro-sd card.
@LordOfWealth ally is laggy, not sure about the nexus 1
Depends on how your service is in your area.
@hownychea I figured it out, it flashes when you have an unread text
its like iphone which also uses capacitive instead of the resistive on lg xenon.
how much would the droid cost a month if You got like the everything plan. (internet, texing, calling,....)
is the screen heat or pressure?
The droid has accelerometers. So you can just put it's on it's side and it will go to landscape.
can you make your own rinqtone and put them in your droid ?
Which phone is better the motorola milestone/droid or motorola milestone XT720
i wanna know more about the apps and hows it gunna compete with the iPhone...someone plz get back to me about this
@leiferickson123 well not exactly outdated but it's getting really slow compared to newer Droids or any other Android phone. The hardware is getting a little old. It's still a good phone and it gets the job done, but some apps just need a more powerful phone to get a better experience.

Doesn't mean any of that, really. Out of the box, the CLIQ has far more features. The DROID's CPU is what makes it faster, not Android 2.0.
Glad you enjoyed it.
I like it more now than I did at first. I've gotten used to it.
do u need a data plan to go online with this
@zenar154 yes its $30 extra + whatever plan you get
why does the gsm version have multi touch and this one doesnt.
My phone has a lot of minute, unlimited txting, voicemail, etc. but no web because it's just an enV2. How much more will this cost me? I want internet, texting, and maybe a little calling (not much, most of my friend and family are on verizon, so that is free).
@quest8899 i'm pretty sure the iphone is the best out there, but this phone is second in line
do u need a data plan for this phone ?
i love this phone!!!
my thoughts exacly, everyone is talking about how the droid is better than the iphone. the way i see it that may b true for now but consider the fact that the droid may be going all in too soon. part of the reason the iphone has been such a success is that they r slowly making it better. keeping ppl interested.
@marcosAKAshorty2895 how is 2 years outdated?
Dude , is that physical keyboard even good?
I had one of these. It would freeze/lock up constantly, crash at least once a month, requiring a hard reset. Then a strip of touch portion on the screen stopped working. After that, all the external buttons quit working. Next to the Palm Pre, it's the biggest piece of crap ever.
Useful and informative, though it presupposes some familiarity with an earlier version of Android.
how much is this phone monthly if im a Verizon customer
I know I just got the rogue like 2 months ago and now this comes out :(...
has this phone got a g-sensor ?
do u have to buy a data plan
you have 3g on a droid ? what clean
what's the battery time for this?
any cons that would stop me from buying?
How does it copy the iphone?
i think it is
ive heard the only downside is the keyboard, but even then you get used to it
does it have sd card slot
ya look at some more reviews its really well made except i dont like the slider
@demon69120
its an extra 30 dollars with data, per month
@Jazzywazzy13131 you buy them off the android market
@kungfufreak360 i agree haha i just got my ENV TOUCH which i love but a freakin month later this phone comes out WTF Verizon let us know these things more in advance!!

how does it have visual voicemail on verizon? wth?
Oooh, no idea - depends on your plan.
What part r u refering to when u said "that's not true"? I'm pretty sure u didn't understand what I meant by "improved" ur taking it for face value, completely missing the point of what I said
should i ghet this??? i hVE LG VORTEX
wait, what can the droid do that the iphone can't?
Is this a world phone?
wow really? how long did it take you to come to that conclussion? Let's think for a moment, iPhone and G1 came out before the Droid... therefore... the Droid follows. Yeah you have to have a data plan 29.99
So I can't use my yahoo mail account on this? Oh well I guess I could do it through the internet. either way, I'm still getting this phone.
yes but can it go on TH-cam?!?!
@christianzzz09 heck yea! this thing is amazing.
