Nice to see a 'rice cooker' recipe! I don't use mine every week....but I love my RC as much as my slowcookers...going to give this a try for sure. My family loves drumsticks! TFS
Thank you for sharing! I tried coca-cola chicken on the stove like 4 years ago. Dan Seto's video helped with that. Was yummy. Today, I got inspired by yours and hopped out straight to get chicken. I got some mid joints. And! Decided to experiment and got marinated teriyaki ones too. The teriyaki slab was a palm sized chicken so I cut it up in long strips. So both went in. Just poured in some coke, soy sauce. Chilli flakes, pepper. 2 cloves garlic. I star aniseed. Got this idea somewhere and it gives such a beautiful aroma to the chicken. Good fit. Halfway I put some diced potatoes on the steamer basket and plop it back in with the chicken romping beautifully below. The smell was something. Verdict: chicken was super juicy and cooked through. As for taste, think anyone can just adjust to personal taste... saltier or spicier etc Important thing was the chicken was cooked fully AND super juicy. Thank you for sharing!
i am so glad u shared the tip to use ricecookers for other things besides rice i love the recipie u used and i tred another version using rasberry gingerale orange extract brownsugar worcheshire sauce and a tiny bit of montreal seasoning came out nice the brown sugar the first i did it i added in the middle of cooking but try this and tell me what u think
That one I can't believe. I went into that stereotypical mode of WHAT?!? Asian? No rice cooker? ha! But then lots of people still cook it on the stove!
thank u so much for this video i just started to live on my own i just happend to have enough money for rent, a ricecooker and a small fridge. to make a long story short im glad that now in can cook in a rice cooker. Godbless you and your family
Debbi, the concept should work on just about anything, really. Just note that I did do it with less liquid and it does end up VERY BBQy, and sticky, and it almost felt burnt. It wasn't, but it was not as good as this, with lots of liquid.
Again, your comment went straight to spam. I remember YT talking about handing out "badges" to my top commenters/fans. And I hope they do that soon so I can badge you and hopefully get you out of that silly spam folder. I need my Angie comment! haha
FitAnge S I'm not sure! It used to happen to someone once before as well. I believe he complained out it, "report a bug", and they fixed it for him. That may work for you too? I used to have that done to me too. I think it is for people who do a lot of commenting, which is ridiculous.
FitAnge S I did unmark it as spam. The problem is that I do not get an email notice when you post a comment, so it is automatically being marked as spam. If someone was marking it, I would get an email and then it would take me to my the area that they have marked as spam. I'd report a bug if I were you.
My rice steamer has two places where you put the liquid you're using, like I have to put water in the bottom, and then also in the rice tray with the rice. So my question is, besides putting Coke with the chicken, did you have to put water in the very bottom, underneath the chicken compartment?
Gosh dang it Beth. Sigh....where am I gonna put a rice cooker. Ok I'll get one. I been thinking to buy one anyways. This looks really good Beth TY for sharing.
i have used my rice cooker to cook other things besides rice and it works great i will try this recipie but i like spicy foods 2 any idea??to this recipie???
how long does you have to cook boneless wings in rice cooker with and without rice. I want to start cooking meat but afraid it's not gonna cook good is it gonna cook enough with only 1 cup over water and rice in with it
FYI. This is Hong Kong Cola Chicken. Invented by traditional Hong Konger back in the 60's. This is a typical Hong Kong dish that we eat this since we were little. Special to Hong Kongers.
is that something to do with Carbon? coke classic has it a lot. Also when food cooked on coal is taste much much heavenly. May be here its using that concentrated liquid carbon to bring that taste. Nice one
+bon rodrigues She's probably so proud of her intro and outro, I get that but, lol the music... got to go. Everytime I hear it I roll my eyes but eh.. I guess I could speed by it and stop the vid before the song comes on. arrgggg
***** I could leave but before I do, tonight I used your Coke recipe. It made the chicken super tender, I needed to add flavor to it after though, for me ketchup, my sons BBQ sauce. So thanks for the recipe to make tender chicken.
+Apple See, now was it so hard to stay relevant and speak about the recipe instead of replying to trolls and agreeing with them to spur them on? Thanks at least for the second comment.
As I said, it will continue to cook until fluid is gone. So it was cooking and cooking and cooking before I just said "it's dinner." A second time, I did this with much less fluid and it cooked down to a sticky, almost burnt like mess. So there has to be a very happy in between, where you watch it.
Recipes are always in the description box below the video .. click SHOW MORE to see. But 1/4 c. soy sauce. And it is the sugar in the soda that you really need. Adding chicken broth would be adding more salt instead. I used probably 4-6 drumsticks, but you can use whatever you need
I've never seen anyone cook anything else in a rice cooker besides rice. Great Idea! Is it like cooking in a crock pot because that's what it looks like by the way the chicken just wanting to fall off the bone?
I just tried this with a 3 lbs bag of chicken wing sections (usually used for hot wings) thawed. I used a 20 cup Aroma Rice cooker (I did not use 20 cups of coke.) It came out ok. I did it exactly like the video with no garlic added. The flavor was good but after cooking it on white rice option, it stopped after 55 minutes. There was a significant amount of coke/soy sauce left. almost like it really didn't cook down much. So there was no sticky bar-b-que like sauce at the end. I might try it again with drumsticks.Over all, the chicken was very moist with a good flavor. Just the chicken, coke and soy sauce.
just found your station. I hope you are still answering questions because i have a huge one and it may sound dumb but i have to ask. I just bought a Amora Rice Cooker and i also bought the cook book for the recipes the question i have the book does not answer it. When making meals that call for a protein like chicken, beef or fish, do you cook the rice and the protein together, or each separate this may sound trivial to you and all the expert cooks one here. But i am just starting to ditch fast food and cutting down on processed food so this is all new to me. Can you or any of your viewers answer this question for me, help!!! Thank you.
45 years ago, my mom would use 1 regular coca-cola (12 oz., I am thinking) and 1 c. catsup to cook a chicken breasts/ thighs/ legs/ wings in a skillet. Tasted BBQ ish. Still works!
I'm room and bording with some people and its so nice to be able to cook in my own room rather then awkwardly cooking around a bunch of strangers! lol
It doesnt get smelly and greasy at your room?
Just tried the recipe, came out super delicious 👌.
I tried this recipe with drumsticks a short while ago. It came out delicious!
Me too cooked it today.
I am going to try this right now!
How was it?

Thanks for the video, I’ve been searching on how I can brown my chicken in a crockpot or rice cooker. I love how it looks so brown.
Right On! Thank you for another recipe to do in my rice cooker.
And it's ono!!
Can you believe I do not have a rice cooker?! I must buy one now because of this. :)
That one I can't believe. I went into that stereotypical mode of WHAT?!? Asian? No rice cooker? ha! But then lots of people still cook it on the stove!

Every time I watch one of your video's, you remind me on why I live to eat, and not eat to live lol!
Oh this looks heavenly!
Thanks again and keep cooking.
Gonna do this now-- but quick question do I season the meat at all (as in add any other spices with the garlic?)
Gosh dang it Beth. Sigh....where am I gonna put a rice cooker. Ok I'll get one. I been thinking to buy one anyways. This looks really good Beth TY for sharing.
lol, just use a heavy pot on the stove on low
where have i been?...lol...i had no idea you could cook in the rice cooker...my mom gave one to my daughter last christmas...thanks can't wait to try!
omg looks soo tasty nicee
How does it taste? Is it sweet?
is there a way to fry the chicken using this cooker?. I want a spicy double crunch
I no longer have a rice cooker, but my mum has a crock pot. Could I do a similar recipe in that??
I've never thought about cooking chicken with cola..
i have used my rice cooker to cook other things besides rice and it works great i will try this recipie but i like spicy foods 2 any idea??to this recipie???
worchestershire would add a little bit of spice and a lot a bit of flavor. Then fire it up with some cayenne!
thanks great idea i tell u how it goes
i tried it didnt have cayenne so i used montreal seasoning came out wonderful thank you so much looking forward to new recipies
Ohhh this looks so good Beth! I think I'm gonna have to put a rice cooker on my Christmas list!
So you took out the chicken after an hour? Because the cooker won't stop until all liquid evaporates

never in my wildest thought I would have imagined...that chicken can be cooked with coke!
Came out good.
Looked real good!
Will it work with any rice cooker? For Instance a rice cooker with a glass removable lid with the steam hole.
it should!
looks insanely delicious!😋😋
Hey can I use like any type of rice cooker? Just as long as it cooks rice, right?
does your rice cooker have a poultry setting?
Yummy
Can you use frozen chicken or must it be thawed.
I would not use frozen, as the rice cooker will only cook for as long as there is water in the pot and it may not quite cover it.
Wonder how rice would've tasted if added yo it.
How many cups of coke I have to put
Can't WAIT to try
did it do any harm to the cooker..?? I mean was the inside vessel Rusty or sticky?
Nice tips..... But pleeeeeeaaaaaassse can you get rid of that terrible music.?
+bon rodrigues She's probably so proud of her intro and outro, I get that but, lol the music... got to go. Everytime I hear it I roll my eyes but eh.. I guess I could speed by it and stop the vid before the song comes on. arrgggg

***** Sorry I offended you. For now on, if I leave anymore comments, I'll stay relevant. Have a good evening!
Can low sodium chicken broth be used thanks
Yes, but it would basically be just steamed chicken?
What is the capacity of your rice cooker?
I did do your recipe and it was great and I posted it. It was so good.
YEY! I'm glad you liked it!
seriously? as simple as this? coke and chicken in rice cooker and no other ingredients? lemme try that later. haha tnx for this.
do we use oil ?? or just coke n soya sauce
Can I use a crock pot if I don't have a rice cooker?
yep
What kind of rice cooker do you use?
Did it cook for 1 whole cycle or 2 or did you stop it after 1 hour

how many litre of coke need for 1 chicken on average?
is this only for drumstick or can do with breast too???
How many pcs of chicken did you do ? How much soy sauce did you use ?
Will it work with chicken broth instead of soda ?
Thanks for the video.

wow, i dont have a rice cooker but it looks really interesting!
Hello,
Would anyone know if you could do this in a pot instead of a RC & and just simmer till the coke evaporates.
Love your videos!
Can I do it with fish?
does it taste of coke??
I've never seen anyone cook anything else in a rice cooker besides rice. Great Idea! Is it like cooking in a crock pot because that's what it looks like by the way the chicken just wanting to fall off the bone?
Can't wait to try this...
Is it ok if I leave out the soy sauce please
It's called Chicken Adobo here in the Philippines. Love this!
No it is not!
What do you put on the chicken?
Try coke and BBQ sauce on the chicken and cook it down. It's delicious
Yes the skin has the fat & that sure makes it taste yummy.
This looks great & easy ..Maybe i need to ask for a rice cooker for Christmas =D
BIG HUGS
its nice thank you
Are you supposed to season the chicken
I bet that would be good in the ninja cooker also.
Looks delicious ;-)
this is also prepared in ecuador, here we eat it a lot, just search in google for pollo a la coca cola
:) it's only Wednesday :D wooohooo early video :) YUM I think we need to get a rice cooker!
Hi...you set it on steam setting correct?
yes

Good question. But I doubt that your proteins will need the same time to cook as your rice. All I can say is give it a try.
@@CookingAndCrafting thank you, do you think it would be best if i bought a smaller cooker just for the rice, in order not to ruin the protein?
