Thank you for sharing! I tried coca-cola chicken on the stove like 4 years ago. Dan Seto's video helped with that. Was yummy.
Today, I got inspired by yours and hopped out straight to get chicken. I got some mid joints. And! Decided to experiment and got marinated teriyaki ones too. The teriyaki slab was a palm sized chicken so I cut it up in long strips.
So both went in. Just poured in some coke, soy sauce. Chilli flakes, pepper. 2 cloves garlic. I star aniseed. Got this idea somewhere and it gives such a beautiful aroma to the chicken. Good fit.
Halfway I put some diced potatoes on the steamer basket and plop it back in with the chicken romping beautifully below. The smell was something.
Verdict: chicken was super juicy and cooked through. As for taste, think anyone can just adjust to personal taste... saltier or spicier etc
Important thing was the chicken was cooked fully AND super juicy.
    Thank you for sharing!

Debbi, the concept should work on just about anything, really.
Just note that I did do it with less liquid and it does end up VERY BBQy, and sticky, and it almost felt burnt. It wasn't, but it was not as good as this, with lots of liquid.

FitAnge S I did unmark it as spam. The problem is that I do not get an email notice when you post a comment, so it is automatically being marked as spam. If someone was marking it, I would get an email and then it would take me to my the area that they have marked as spam. I'd report a bug if I were you.

My rice steamer has two places where you put the liquid you're using, like I have to put water in the bottom, and then also in the rice tray with the rice. So my question is, besides putting Coke with the chicken, did you have to put water in the very bottom, underneath the chicken compartment?

As I said, it will continue to cook until fluid is gone. So it was cooking and cooking and cooking before I just said "it's dinner." A second time, I did this with much less fluid and it cooked down to a sticky, almost burnt like mess. So there has to be a very happy in between, where you watch it.

I just tried this with a 3 lbs bag of chicken wing sections (usually used for hot wings) thawed. I used a 20 cup Aroma Rice cooker (I did not use 20 cups of coke.) It came out ok. I did it exactly like the video with no garlic added. The flavor was good but after cooking it on white rice option, it stopped after 55 minutes. There was a significant amount of coke/soy sauce left. almost like it really didn't cook down much. So there was no sticky bar-b-que like sauce at the end. I might try it again with drumsticks.Over all, the chicken was very moist with a good flavor. Just the chicken, coke and soy sauce.

    just found your station.
I hope you are still answering questions because i have a huge one and it may
sound dumb but i have to ask. I just bought a Amora Rice Cooker and i also
bought the cook book for the recipes the question i have the book does not
answer it. When making meals that call for a protein like chicken, beef or
fish, do you cook the rice and the protein together, or each separate this may
sound trivial to you and all the expert cooks one here. But i am just starting
to ditch fast food and cutting down on processed food so this is all new to me.
Can you or any of your viewers answer this question for me, help!!! Thank you.

    • @CookingAndCrafting
      @CookingAndCrafting  5 ปีที่แล้ว
