    Wow! Back in pre-YT years, a young tech could spend 10-years trying to figure this stuff out (if then). I hope those watching your videos appreciate the years of experience packed into your stuff.

      We absolutely appreciate it. I wouldn’t be 1/10 the tech I am if it wasn’t for the internet as a whole. I don’t do racks every day but I take care of a few of them. And I just like this guys fast paced, knowledgeable content. I am doing really really well for my age, and life is good.

      taking a step back I have a Surge tank Hopefully this will shed more light on the issue this morning was getting a ball floating but the issue repeates itself but no temp issues

    The A8 valve is typically a standard hot gas bypass valve used to control the flow of hot gas from the compressor discharge to the suction line, helping to prevent short cycling and regulate evaporator temperatures.
    Design: It often has a simpler design with a fixed pressure differential setting. Its primary role is to maintain system balance and prevent overloading by bypassing excess hot gas.
    A9 Valve:
    Function: The A9 valve usually has more advanced features compared to the A8. It may include additional controls or sensors that allow for more precise management of refrigerant flow and system temperatures.
    Design: The A9 valve may offer more adjustable settings or include electronic controls that provide better adaptability to varying system conditions and load requirements.

    Thank you so much for making these videos, I have been a HVACR service tech for quite awhile now but I never touched racks until about 6 months ago when I moved to a new company that has a refrigeration department that handles almost exclusively super markets. I had been working mostly in commercial food service so I have a lot of experience with walk-ins, self contained units, ice machines, and specialty stuff like slushy machines and blast chillers but there is so much different in rack refrigeration with all these different valves and things that smaller systems just don't use at all that it almost feels like being fresh out of trade school again and your videos have helped me quite a bit during this change so again thank you.

    I like seeing those massive old school valves like the HG differential valve you showed.

    I thought this would be a "3-play", but 2 plays and I've got it.
    Great format -- a walk through the rack room to get the Questions percolating, then all the questions get answered on pencil-and-paper.
    This sure straightens out all the Push-and-Pull that goes on with the Receiver/Condenser and dealing with what happens on cold days. That "low ambient temperature" stuff really throws a newbie for a loop (but here's a good place to start.)

    The A8 valve, classified as an ORIT valve by Sporlan, and the A9 valve, classified as a CROT valve by Sporlan, you explained their function in a refrigeration system very well. Hopefully, the receiver on the system that utilize this type of head pressure control has been sized large enough to handle the extra refrigerant charge needed for the flooding. As you already know, that excess refrigerant has to be held by the receiver in warm weather months. Also, as you already know, the amount of extra refrigerant charge needed in a system utilizing condenser flooding can be lessened by using a system that has a split condenser, consisting of a Summer/Winter circuit and a Summer only circuit; both used through a 3-way valve in the discharge line. Doing it that way allows for a smaller capacity receiver to be used.

    We have our receivers in compressor rooms so that they don’t get too hot

    I usually see a dif valve of 10 to 20 pound from receiver to discharge instead of a check valve to drop leg

    • @gendronhvac-r1269
      @gendronhvac-r1269  ปีที่แล้ว

      If I ever come across it I will !! :)
      But just to give you like two informations.
      1) you can set it during like colder climates or colder weather by manually turning on all the fans and turning the valve to make sure that the pressure stays at the appropriate level.
      2) the manufacturer sets them to a default pressure and they actually have like a chart like one turn equals 200 head pressure so on and so forth so you can estimate the pressure and just turn it to with the chart says and then put it in.
      But like I said if I ever come across it I will totally show it. it's just not a super common issue.

    I'm working on a Rack today had a few cases running warm a leak was repaired . I added some gas but instead of getting 1 ball i got two balls with a half sight glass it would go away and come back never got 1 solid ball what could this be?

    • @gendronhvac-r1269
      @gendronhvac-r1269  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mhhhh not sure ....
      The only thing I can think of was that sometimes refrigerant will do wild things when there's a high load on the rack so if you came and the rack was an alarm and was satisfying sometimes it can make you have weird readings. I would try to make your way back there and just check and see if things level out.
      Also if the refrigerant is feed into the top of the receiver sometimes this can happen.
      Sorry I can't be of more help but sometimes it's hard when you can't see the issue.
      Good luck:)

      yes the Refrigerant does feed into the top of the receiver
