If you got the spiral- bound through Amazon, those are done by third parties. I noticed that there are spiral- bound versions of her books on there, and they definitely are not done by the publisher. Sadly, there is probably no way to properly SB her books without losing some art. The only thing you really can do is to cut apart the book and have loose pages.
I purchased the regular book and spiral bound it at the top myself! Its perfect for me as I am left handed and makes it much easier to color. I didnt lose any of the illustrations doing it this way!
Thanks for the flip through 😊 it is a beautiful book ❤ I don't know why they've done that 😤 they've could have done it without ruining the images 😑 can't wait to see you coloring in this book ❤
I’m so glad you did this video. I also always choose spiral if it’s an option so ordered mine spiral. When it got here I couldn’t believe the mess it was so I had to reorder the regular one. I just kept it and didn’t say anything but I’m very glad you have.
I imagine JB would be mortifed seeing her images chopped like that! I can relate to your bed story as I'm a shorty too 5'1 lol ...thanks for the heads up re spiral, bad production there.
Sorry you had that experience. Johanna would be very disappointed. I am really enjoying Small Victories. My copy had a very slight double print effect. Almost returned it however once colored it is not noticeable at all. Very helpful info, thank you.
I have all my paperback books, including this one, spiral bound at my local copy shop. Currently Office Depot although FedEx Office does it as well. I've never seen this much chopped off. Every once in a while the actual holes might get into the design, especially cover pages that are printed full bleed (no margin). This book in particular has extremely tight page margins, problematic even standard bound, so I would suggest top binding it. Top binding is also great if the spiral bugs you on two sided pages. The relief of getting rid of those spines is fabulous though, they lay nice and flat, can be folded back so you only have one page of book to handle (I lap color so having the whole book open and flopping everywhere is a real pain).. especially since most of the US editions of Bassfords books were really poorly glue bound and dropping pages terribly.. this is the first sewn bound she has released in the US, hopefully that is a permanent change. The first three I had done were Worlds of Wonder which had multiple loose pages after only coloring three or four out of it, Ivy which is HUGE and very difficult to lay flat, and my Mythographic Wild Winter which was also dropping pages due to the perforations for "easy removal" lol.. yeah, too easy. I loved coloring in them so much more after binding I slowly had my entire collection spiral bound, and it's the first thing I do with any new book.
That is a shame about the spiral version. So glad that you warned us! I had to get one of those little Rubbermaid step stools for my son’s home after slip/sliding out of bed onto the hardwood floor! 😂
No Dino nose? lol...Thanks Ms.ZucchiniKitty for pointing out about these spiral bound copies. The book is already small enough but we don't need it cut down.
Can I ask you a question about the new Forest Girl book? Is your copy difficult to keep open because mine is so tight and springy it's driving me crazy. Much as I hate to say it I'm thinking of cutting out the pages.😱
I tried bending it back really hard but it fought back big time! It really upset me having to do it but I cut the page out with a sharp blade. When it's finished I will put it back in place. The book is absolutely beautiful.
Yes, that spiral bound version is definitely from a third party seller. I saw someone else in a group when this book first came out say their copy was cut off as well. I don't know the policies for third party sellers as I normally avoid buying from third parties unless they are shipped from Amazon, or I know who the shop is. I would reach out to Amazon to see if there is anything they can do to help you. That's unacceptable, this shop needs to stop selling this.
Hi Karen, the seller you bought the spiral bound version from definitely got it done themselves and resold it as Johanna has said herself she doesn’t make spiral bound books except for her calendars and planners. I would ask for your money back if I were you as you have lost a lot of images.
I got a little flutter when I saw the spiral bound but as soon as you opened it I felt really sad…Good job you brought it to our attention..🥰

This book is already so tiny, I can't imagine cutting off like half an inch to an inch in width!

How? :o
@@SAJK0KAT I used a Cinch binding tool from Amazon, it punches holes and inserts the spiral binding.

OMG 😮!! So glad you are sending this spiral book back….because it is all messed. So sorry!!

That's diabolical.
❤️Hi Karen thank you so much for this video 😘

The binding on that book is tight, I worked the binding and bent the page backward but it almost broke the page out... be careful.

Oh thank you!
Not Johanna, you must have ordered from a third party seller :(
sadly that is what happens when a book that is not printed for spirlal bound is done. They cut the spine off and then bind it.
Wow... Just wow.. They ruined johannas beautiful book 😢
wow the spiral bound is so poorly done
