Great idea. I know that rod was broken but, that did hurt my heart to watch you cut that MRC rod up like that. LOL

Oh, me too. It's actually been sitting broken in the garage since this summer. I didn't have the heart to throw it away.

Great Idea though it was sad what happened to on of Kris's rods. Gave a shout out to you the other day on my rigrap unboxing video and put a link to you in the description for people who wanted an in depth review of the product that you were the man to go to. Love your tips and videos.

Thank you! I hated that one of my rods got broken, but it gives me an excuse to buy a couple new ones at catfish conference next year. 😂😂
      Thank you for the shout-out!

My dad built a similar setup with a spool that can be tensioned so the line doesn't need to be touched but you still have to hold the reel in your hand. I like your method better.

With some extra hardware, you could easily have the best of both worlds and put tension on the spool. I went with hardware I had laying around, so I was limited on what I was able to do.
      Thank you for watching!

Bought a Muddy River Catfishing flathead spinning rod a few months ago. Cheap Chinese garbage if you ask me. Maybe I got a bad rod, I do t know. The reel seat is garbage and is too big to fit even a 9500 penn spinning reel. Whatever fell on your rod and broke it did you a favor, absolute garbage rod.

I've only ever tried the casting rods. They're good rods, but I am still partial to tangling with catfish.
Kris is a stand up guy. Did you contact him with your issues?
