Every once in a while, I like to grab another TT Artisan f.95 dumpsterfire simply because they make a sturdy, amusing lens. Optics may be poor, but repping a manual focus lens is a hoot for casual shooting. You can also out-maneuver the poor optics by shooting certain types of photos, basically stuff with a strong narrative. Long exposures and coma smearing can make neat results, for example. I may pick this one up actually... granted, it has a bruuutal fight to kick my rokinon 50 1.4 out of its spot
Thanks Chris, you're always my first port of call for lens info! If it wasn't quite so soft on axis wide open I would definitely grab this for super low light filming... the softness might do my skin a favour though lol
Thanks for the review Chris! Because it’s so big and not sharp in the centre until you hit f/2 I bought the compact TTArtisans 50mm f/2 for my ‘walkabout’ Fuji X-E4 kit.
Dude even for us Chinese we talk about this lense as an amusing toy not a real lense lol, but hey, if you need a fun toy other then a serious heavy investment on a single lense, then this one could give you some fun at night shooting situation. Cheers Chris, another honest review!
Hello Christopher. Do you plan to test the 7Artisans 50mm f0.95 ? I am looking for a wide open lens to make live videos of the deep sky and I would be interested in this lens. Many thanks in advance. Alain
@@JimBaker-ks4io Salut. J'ai finalement pris le 7artisans 35mm F0.95 qui est meilleur que le 50mm. J'ai pas encore trop testé mais ça a l'air très bon.
Wow, that is a bad performance... But i love the design, that old classic look and i want to see it on a Fuji or Nikon Zfc, might be a cool experimental lens for some "ugly soft analog" look. Thanks as always for your review, straight to the point as it should be!
Thanks for the review. So I've seen a few of your TT Artisan Lens reviews, which are good reviews, (I have the 100mm2.8 bubble, and the 90mm 1.25) but you always give them a hit for the Metal lens cap? You say that you " hate them." Why is that? They are more expensive to manufacture and purchase than a plastic lens cap, And the most important thing... They protect the lens! Even when dropped... Which is more than any Plastic cap will do. And you can always buy a plastic lens cap to replace it, for $1.50 anywhere. What am I missing?
The 7artisan 35mm 0.95 lens is a banger. I use it all the time. But this one... nah. It doesnt look good at all. I rather buy a used Sigma 56mm 1.4, which is not much more expensive, but ubersharp straight from wide open.
Did the math, and it's not UNTIL you reach aroun nd F/8 at MINIMUM (full frame equivalent) that you get a decently sharp image? On a manual lens? For PORTRAITS???? No thank you!!! 🤣🤣🤣
I just don’t understand why they made it so ugly. The version they made for Leica is so beautiful. but all the other versions of their lenses look stupid.

The definitive guide in lens reviews as always!

Nice to see the image quality matching the subject at 3:44
Glad to see Christopher is a fellow lobster! @3:45
Sorry. Not Beautiful.
Those corners. Ouch!
Very detailed review. Thanks, Chris. I think I still buying this lens. It's enough to use for a hobby and I like the bokeh quite well.
I wonder if the corner suffered some severe field curvature?
Hey christopher! I watch your every new video. Thank you for supporting Ukraine. We appreciate it!
Nice to see a bit of Aberystwyth!
how about : meike 50mm 0.95 ?
Ooooh, the quick preview of the video when hovering over the thumbnail did not look especially promising when looking at the crosshair...
Might be a good lens for artistic video work
That ghostly white-ish look can be fixed by dehaze in lightroom?
I've got the Canon 50mm F1.2L but I barely use F1.2 but F2 or F2.8 so I didn't expect so much on this lens at the firstlook
Better than a coke bottle from the test chart . Thanks for the review . Not up to the usual ttartisans image quality . Cheap is cheap .
I guess the combination of cheap and 0.95 makes it so extreme. As an 50 / F2 lens, it might have had quite decent IQ.
Thanks for all the reviews, is there any way we could download the chart test images to make it easier to compare lens?
I wonder how fast this lens would be with the Metabones speed booster?
A very wired lens. It's more suitable for creative and cinematic video shoots.

@@alainpaillou29 Merci :) en APSC du coup ?
@@JimBaker-ks4io je l'ai pris en monture E car il y a un adaptateur monture Sony vers camera ASI. Donc ouais, APSC.
ayooo. My guy has great taste in his psychology professors
Which one is the best cheap APS-C wide aperture portrait lens? F/1.2 or lower, 50mm (75mm FF equivalent) or longer, 250€ or cheaper
The corners on those fast apparture lenses are always not sharp and wide open they have a smoky look. Same with the Leica Sumilux.
Only for mirrorless???
Excellent video 😊!

Interesting lens!
My wallet doesn't care too much about sharpness
I had the Full Frame version for a while, seemed much better!
Much more expensive. You get what you pay.
@@womanveryold3266 No Leica SL 50mm F2 Apo is much more expensive :-)
We also have a 135mm lens with manual focus, but half of money got it
what you won ??? )))
always loved your review, chris. too bad i can't support you via patreon, i don't have credit card
If I had this lens, I'd start to think I was losing my eyesight.
You definitely get what you pay for.
Another fantastic review 👌 this lens is not as great as the Fuji xf50mm f1 💪🏻
What a surprise
@@ArteUltra1195 still I’d never thought it would be this bad
@@Pixelpeeps-69 Really?
Their full frame 50 0.95 seems like a much nicer lens
yet 4 times the price. so yeah... you get what you paid
Too bad that you dont test this lense on FF since you've mention it can
But anyway, thanks for the great review
lucky you......
You know a lens is NOT recommended when he doesn't say he recommends it at the end. 😂😂
In China , you can get it about $150 Dallor
Best cheap lens for 0.95
I think the kamlan 50mm f1.1 has better results
It is easy for lens manufacturers to make a cheap f/095 with serious optical issues at f/0.95
😮kors
Should have been sold as a F4 lens
Nice Bible
So it basically is a f/2.8 lens at best.
Honestly seems like they just wanted to get the 'F0.95' badge on there and nothing else. Better of paying a bit more for a decent 1.8 lens really.
I have a feeling this is a case of very poorly controlled field curvature.
Catarat simulator 2022
Another lens pretending to be f/0.95. Probably should be rebranded as a f/2.0 at best. Oh well, we live in hope.
as sharp as a squashed banana...................
what ever happened to the vintage M42 lens review you were going to do?

Sigma's price is 100% up tho
skip this and get the TTArtisan 50mm f1.2
there no point to get 0.95 aperture while the results are useless. better get native brand 50mm 1.8 with AF
1, thats some f stop.

Looks like they pushed too hard for a number. Their f1.4 are more balanced for overall performance.
I just don’t understand why they made it so ugly. The version they made for Leica is so beautiful. but all the other versions of their lenses look stupid.
Great review as always. Garbage product and uhnecessery CO2 emissions from the manufacturing and logistical standpoint.
Nice little secret promo for Jordan Peterson😉
Don't wasting money for the China lens.
Very good video, very professional evaluation, I want to discuss cooperation with you, I don't know how can I contact you?
