      I believe these Tv serial actors have a lot more experience and training in the matter of acting in Front of camera and giving away all the subtle body language required for their character. This is because the on the set of a tv serial there are multiple cameras, so maybe that gives these actors a upper hand.

      I believe tv serial actors have a lot of experience and training in acting in Front of camera and giving away all the necessary subtle body language required by the character they are playing. This is because on a tv serial set there are multiple cameras and shooting process is very lengthy. So that kinda gives them an upper hand in acting. That's what I think

    I watched Do Patti solely for Shaheer his Bollywood debut was long overdue.
    I grew up watching him as Arjun and Dev Dixit, still my favorite ITV character. Now, seeing him as Dhruv and nailing every role, it’s hard to believe the same actor portrayed both Dev and Dhruv. I just wish more ITV talents would get the recognition they deserve. If Bollywood focused less on promoting nepotism, it could be in a much better place today. This is why I cringe when people applaud Ananya Pandey for Control or Kho Gaye Hum Kahan that’s her 8th or 9th project, and yet her doing a fairly decent job is being praised and now she's paired with talents like Madhavan and Akshay. Meanwhile, genuinely talented actors like Mrunal Thakur and Radhika Madan have limited scripts coming their way, and people are often overly critical of their choices for example, Triptii Dimri . We seem to applaud the bare minimum from star kids who are simply handed projects, while holding other deserving actors to much higher standards.

    @nehadwivedi9484 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +18

    Watching Shaheer Sheikh transform from playing Arjun in "Mahabharat" to embodying an exceptionally toxic husband in the film was a treat. The evilness shown in his eyes as his father mistreated him on the call struck a chord. That scene stood out for me. Kriti Sanon, however, truly stole the show. She didn’t just shine as the evil sister; she also perfectly captured the essence of innocence. While you pointed out Kajol’s dialect as less than convincing, I also found her portrayal as a police officer lacking. Take Rani Mukherjee, for example-when she dons the character, you can tell she means business. Kajol, in contrast, failed to deliver that same conviction.

  • @apsomya
    @apsomya 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +624

    So I wasn't the only one thrown off by Kajol's accent even in the trailer 😭 these people need to stop trying to recreate the female Haryanvi cop. You can't replicate F.I.R and the performance Kavita gave as Chandramukhi. So many copy cops on itv & in films that clearly try to recreate it. Instead of triggering nostalgia it just sounds weird. Haryanvi is a language with body language & physical presence in the speaker. You can't just pretend to speak it.

    I watched it for #shaheersheikh only.
    Movie was going interesting until they decided to make Shailee good.
    I expected a twist from soumya to put shailee on jail or vice versa. there was a lot of potential. Like Dhruv, Shailee also tortured Soumya for no reason. Why she suddenly had a soft corner? If she already knew soumya was victim from childhood, why she went to grab her husband ? NO ONE KNOWS. If shailee helped soumya to get revenge on dhruv for dumping it make more sense.
    The only best part is Shaheer and Kriti.
    As a fan of shaheer, I was expecting more character development for Dhruv. His feelings for Soumya was complex, you could see he went to make up with her, take her with him, abuses and blames it on angry. Later they ditched the whole build up and made him an abusive spoiled rich guy with political connections. From abusive manipulating husband he became total villain who threats everyone in one moment and concluded story by social message. Then WHY SHAILEE WAS SHOWN LIKE THE VILLAIN? whole mahabharat reference of sisters fight went vain.

      @@mowgli7_ I liked the movie yaar. The domestic abuse scene was so heart wrenching. It is story of many women. I was saying they could have done better with the story and potential actors. Shailee having soft corner is bcoz she saw her mom in soumya but the problem is execution. It was so sudden. They should have given more scenes to shailee or dhruv, instead of kajol. That cop can be played by pankaj tripathi or some one. It never needed that much attention.
      They missed the chance to give character development to Shailee and Dhruv. And the sister's fight was theme, and them reuniting should be shown more convincing

The message that spirit of law is more important than letter of law, needs to be emphasized. To draw a parallel from Mahabharata - you don't need to follow Dharm with those who have themselves destroyed Dharm their entire lives. This point needed to be made.

    Kriti Sanon shines as the dual lead, convincingly portraying the distinct personalities of Shelly and Soumya. Her performance is the film's backbone, showcasing her impressive range as an actress. Shaheer supports well as Dhruv, bringing depth to the narrative.
    However, Kajol and Tanvi Azmi's characters feel underutilized, lacking the depth and screen time they deserve. Their roles, though pivotal, are reduced to mere introductions, leaving their potential unexplored.
    I think the thriller is forced. They deliberately wanted to induce a sympathetic take on domestic violence in their film marketed as “thriller.” This forced narrative disrupts the flow, making the domestic abuse plot feel like an afterthought rather than an integral part of the story.

    I partially agree with preaching part that you highlighted Anmol but the court room scene where Shalley reveals the layers of domestic violence that passes to next generation still made me cry. I don’t think the role of silent enablers or silent victims (both twins here) in a domestic violence is that easy to understand for someone who never experienced it. Sometimes a great dialogue can make the difference between understanding a character vs feeling a character. I loved the movie and I don’t mind the preachiness in a movie if it helps sink the character so much that you actually feel their pain. 9:05

However, towards the end, I thought they made these serious issues a joke, domestic violence as well as false cases against men. They undermined the gravity of both. Kajol telling the judge I am withdrawing my petition for reinvestigation was so childish to show like it was a joke and the fact that she was a cop as well as a prosecutor is itself the biggest joke.

    1. Have been an admirer of Kriti's ability as an actor right since Bareilly Ki Barfi days.
    2. Nailing an accent isn't everybody's cup of tea, especially when they are not from that region. Even when the actor is someone as versatile as Kajol. I recall a roundtable featuring Anubhav Sinha (among others) where he mentioned that he had to rewrite a character to suit the natural accent of the actor he felt was perfect for the role. Why on earth did the producers not give Kajol a normal urban accent? Sheher ke policewaale pahaadon mein transfer nahi hote kya?
    3. The accomplishment of Jaideep Ahlawat in Paatal Lok is on another orbit altogether. Accent is barely the tip of it. Rarely do actors operate at such a level.

What didn't work for me was the Double Role played by Kajol. I mean there was a back story to it, no doubt. But it seemed so out of place. If I remember correctly, Police Officers on duty cannot practice law in India. I wonder no one sent Kanika Dhillon the memo. Or maybe she decided to take her creative liberty a step ahead because it is after all just a mass commercial fiction like thriller (supposedly).
    When I started watching it, I felt it would be on the lines of the yester year classic Sharmilee with Shashi Kapoor and Rakhee as the protagonists. But 10 minutes into it and it became way too predictable and uncanny. Kudos to the OG classic though. Not to forget, the best song track I found was including 'Mathaniya' a song originally rendered by Neha Bhasin fitting aptly into the scene running in the background.

    But I wish film industries focused more on detailing. I mean come on, twins is fine, but both the sisters have same mole placement, same dental structure, eye colour and even voice. 19-20 ka farak toh sirf baalon se pata chal raha thha.
    I used to sit next to a boy who had a twin. Same-same dikhte thhe, the differences were their teeth, dominant hand, complexion and voice. The guy who sat next to me was a left handed and his brother who was in C section was a right handed guy.
    The line "Mahabharat bhi toh bhaiyyo ki hi kahani thhi" tells you not about hatred between brothers but sibling bond. Pandav brothers had an unbreakable bond and so did the Kaurava brothers.

It was underwhelming because the script had so much potential which was the same problem with haseen dilruba

    I had high expectations from this movie but it failed miserably. All of sudden in one night heart change of a sister who hates her Sister becomes her partner in crime. How SIL flirting with BIL was so normal. Firstly She was too much in love with him and the very next minute both wants him to be dead nothing in between. There is something called Divorce also in India. Kriti n Shaheer were fab but Kajol was so anooying with her accent and annoying cringe voice as if she is sitting on KWK Couch. Really disappointed.

    I saw the movie but I feel the ending could have had a more reasonable plot with depth of druv's past connected to the ploy played by the sisters & making druv's real character look more sinister & villainous, with deep dig on his anger issues could have led to more heinous act if he wasn't stopped by the sisters. I loved Kriti's performance ❤️ & Kajol Desi bold avataar 🤌 .... it's always a treat to watch Shaheer on the screen 🤩

    I liked the movie. It resonated with me, maybe because I have had people in my life go through the same thing. Especially the scene where Saumya desperately wants a child and the closing statement by Kajol in the statement. Could it have been better? Sure. But it delivered the PSA that needed to be addressed.
    After the “It ends with us” fiasco, this film was leagues better when dealing with such a sensitive issue.
    P.s. Shailee’s monologue was my favorite part of the movie. After Kajol discovering the sister swap.

    Absolutely hated the movie in its second half as the plot became more and more absurd..they show the DV side, then show her stance on never reporting her husband to the police, and then apparently the micdrop scene is that the demure twin cannot paraglide so she cannot unlock the harness. That wins then the case, only to then show another half an hour of convoluted plot of the seeta geeta replacement angle and why suddenly the spunky twin has a change of heart and decides to join forces. It was just too much of a yo-yo premise to be accepted as a convincing whodunnit thriller. My frustration by the end of the movie was through the roof!

    Kriti's acting is the highlight of this movie. She brought out the contrast between the twins so convincingly and naturally without being over the top. The chemistry with the hero as the shy romantic twin and the outgoing passionate twin was great. Kriti made the film worth watching. Shaheer was good too.
