"Air bubble risk reduced." Really? What material is the capsule made of then? If it is still PMMA then the inevitable microcracking will result in a bubble.
I have just bought a Silva Ranger Global compass and noticed that the needle does not line up horizontally (parallel). Is that normal with this compass? I use it in Europe.
Hi Qba, are you saying that the needle isn't parallel to the ground? If that is the case then the needle is intended to pivot to allow for differing positions on the surface of the globe. Basically, the needle wants to point directly at magnetic north. That direction does not follow the curvature of the Earth. For example, if you are stood on the South Pole a northern hemisphere compass needle will want to point directly down. This was the main reason why we helped Silva develop a global military compass.
Ha! I have this model headtorch and I never actually knew it had the red/orange light option. Fantastic tutorial, thank you so much!
Well now you know 🙌

Thats a great idea being able to offset the GMA
Why my needle is pivoting down and almost touch the bottom of compas compartment ? Silva global expedition

Is this compass a mils/degrees compass ("6400/360" as I think Silva call them)??
Yes, Degrees are on the reverse side of the base plate.
Can the orange/red light be activated before turning on? I.e. don't have to turn white on first and then red.
Yes if you hold the power button for a sec you won't turn on the white light
Press and hold for Red, press again for orange, press again back to red. Press and hold for off. Press once for white, press once again for dimmer.
