Dollar Tree Glitter Vinyl makes great glitter cardstock - just apply to white cardstock before you cut. Works great.

I use the DT vinyl all the time to personalize gift bags, gift tags, cards and signs. Anything that will be thrown away. Just a way to add an extra touch. I use Oracal for the other projects. I don't have a cricut but, I have only seen the blue mat at my area DTs. I love this type of video and would like to see more . Thank you

In my experience, Dollar Tree vinyl is good for a little big larger cut files and not so good for small, intricate cuts. I tend to use the Washi setting whenever I use Dollar Tree vinyl. The Dollar Tree glitter vinyl has definitely given me a lot of trouble when cutting small things with a lot of detail, like snowflakes for example. Cricut vinyl using same file, same settings...no problem! I do like the colors of the Dollar Tree glitter vinyl so I buy it and hope for the best. It is good for larger cuts or small, simple things like small hearts, which I have cut without any issue. I haven't seen matte vinyl at my local Dollar Tree. I wish they did have it because I prefer it over glossy too. Thanks for all the tips and suggestions! :)
I haven't cut that vinyl, but test cutting to make a custom setting would be best. I test cut all of my materials and name them all "my" whatever. I always find the perfect cuts!

I love the Dollar Tree tools, I wish they had a larger scraper. The vinyl.....I can cut it on washi setting BUT I only use it for things around my house, labeling etc BUT I do not use it on anything I would sell, I definitely agree save your money & buy better vinyl. The blanks are awesome. I like their plates & bowls & cups too. We are slowly getting the plus sections here in OH but they only seem to be 2 isles here. Thanks for your videos.
You are definitely saying mod podge correctly. Also FYI the Dollar Tree also has a scoring tool at some of their locations. The finger protectors really work and the vinyl is actually not bad at all. It just takes a little patience to get the correct cut settings. They have some really cool patterns.
I've heard that using the washi tape setting works well with the Dollar Tree Vinyl Paper. I've yet to use ours. We purchased ours, by we and ours, I am referencing our Grand Girlies, so the could practice and it was not problem if they didn't like the end result, they didn't had up or they simply changed their minds. 😂
I bought the DT scoring tool. I use it to score cards by hand as it DOES NOT fit in my Maker. I have not tried to adapt the handle to make it fit.
Saw the Cricut joy mat yesterday and though I don’t have a joy, I was excited. The mat does say “standard grip”, which may be overlooked because it’s blue versus green.
I use the dollar tree vinyl and and my settings are also the washi setting and it cuts perfect and stays on all the plastic containers I have put them on.
dollar tree...learned the hard way... however with a Joy, I customized a material setting for DT vinyl to washie tape. larger images/fonts... and works

I also bought an Alene’s glue gun in the case. I still use it today! It is well over 40 years old!!!

I got my love of crafting from my mom and I remember her Alene's glue gun she used it constantly to the point of the smell of hot glue making me think of her.
Have used DT vinyl, and it works well for larger images with less detailing. I've also used the contact paper as transfer tape and have used the same pieces multiple times. I usually remove some of the stickiness by pressing it on my shirt several times before the first use. After I'm done, I store it on a sheet of freezer paper (glossy side), and it's ready for my next project. Thanks for all your tips, love the videos!

I got a couple of rolls of that same vinyl. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, so I can't say if it works for me. Hopefully I can find a setting that works because I found a couple of really cool colors. I also got one of those Joy mats. After using it a few times it is losing its stickiness even after cleaning. I have had a piece of vinyl come loose while cutting. Maybe the trick is to clean it after every use? I found a really great t-shirt there by American Apparel. It's a tri-blend and super soft. I haven't put any HYV on it yet because I'm still trying to decide on a design. I've also gotten their adhesive squares and double sided adhesive and they are great. I will definitely be buying more.

I love the Dollar Tree vinyl transfer tape for the Joy (which I have) and the writable vinyl. Regular DT vinyl is crap. I was one of those people who bought a lot of DT vinyl and regretted it. And trying to use small font, complete nightmare.
I have had very good luck with the dollar tree vinyl cutting on the washi sheet setting

FYI, that blue Joy mat actually says “Standard Grip” on the top. Even though it’s blue, it appears it may be more like the green, depending on how sticking it actually is.
I also found a scoring tool and a flower shaper on my last trip.

Use the paper setting cuz it's so thin
In the 70s everyone I knew called it modge podge. But in fact it's MOD.
As for scrapers and squeegee, it depends what I'm applying it to. I have a bunch of different ones
I still hear modGe podge. Mispronounciations drives me nuts. JewLARY is another is another.
I don't have a Joy but bought the little mat to hold vinyl I was weeding on a road trip, it worked great!

Hi Susan! When you add permanent vinyl, you can hand wash it without the vinyl coming off. Only high heat like the dishwasher would loosen the adhesive - Dawn

I tried the contact paper as transfer tape when I first started and I honestly didn't like it so I went bought a roll of transfer tape and will do so again as I feel its so much easier to work with. I lost my no name brand type squeegee and now using the cricut and its fine for .. but I do like the grippy I see on the dollar tree one, I am in the Netherlands so won't be able to buy it but do like it. I also learnt the hard way that cheaper vinyl is not great. I also like to keep my vinyl flat not rolled ...
The DollarTree vinyl I use the washi setting with less pressure.

I personally didn’t like the DT vinyl I ended up returning it but if anyone has a setting for the cameo 4 I would love to try it out again and also tips on getting it to stick to what I put it on.

I've gotten a couple of blue Joy-sized mats. Although blue, they say Standard Grip like the Cricut green mats, not light grip

I love my squeegee from 143 Vinyl
The scraper is sharper than the Cricut one. I've chipped the edge its thinner than the Cricut one. It also doesn't feel as sturdy. The joy mat I use for weeding instead of the big mat, also cut one down for my stamping platform. I'd be interested to see if you can sublimate on the Walmart and Dollar Tree coffee mugs.

I have purchased T-shirt’s at my Dollar Tree, they were Gilden, but when I got home they must have been seconds as I couple of them had tears in them. Just sharing so that you will be aware
How do you store your vinyl if not rolled still? I hate that it won't lay flat but I don't have a lot of space to store so it stays rolled and I put them in an Ikea cubby.
I don't mind the glitter vinyl from dollar tree but that is it. I'm not a huge fan of glitter so I don't use it all that often, but the dollar tree glitter vinyl is thicker than the regular vinyl.

The beefy hanes t-shirts are thicker than a normal t-shirt. It's more like a spring/fall t-shirt vs. a summer t-shirt.
On the products that only save change you need to consider gas prices and how far away the other store is. If your only getting a few it may be cheaper to buy from the store you are already in.

When using rolled material I put the curve of the paper down I find I don't fight with the paper and the cutter.
I have the glue gun! Bought it years ago, it's beat up, the case fasteners are broke, etc, but I'll never get rid of it (well, I guess when it stops heating up) 😃
Washi setting for the Dollar tree vinyl with a simple design works great. Plus the blue Dollar Tree mat is compared your green Cricut standard grip mat. The blue Dollar Tree mat is not light grip, but it is a standard grip mat in blue their brand. The blue Dollar Tree mat even says standard grip mat. The blue Dollar Tree mat is great I have used mine a few times. I have bought some mats from different companies before that have different color mats that are not the colors of Cricut mats. I have some on hand now the standard grip mat colors I currently have are yellow and purple. I know it can be confusing because everyone knows the Green Mat as a standard grip but keep in mind that other companies can have different color standard grip mats or any other mats.

But yeah the .25 has made such a difference we feel, also the items are smaller or amount less, so they up the cost n lower the expected size or quality. Btw glue gun died same day.

I have a set of DT tools at my sewing table and at my crafting desk. I actually like the DT weeder better than the Cricut. Also I'm told a hair dryer will make vinyl stick to a surface as well as the squeegee.

Crystal, help! Got a Cricut for Christmas and so far I have only had my Android phone as my main design way to use it. And as you know, it is so limited. I have an older laptop that I am considering getting updated so I can use it for my Cricut. But my question is would I be better of purchasing a desktop computer or a new laptop instead? What is the better piece of equipment for me? Please help!

@Design Bundles , the laptop has to be upgraded in order for it to work with Cricut. According to Cricut, it needs Windows 10 or 11 for it to be compatible. This laptop has 7. And it is not working well so I have to have it looked at if I go this way.
I'm brand new to cricut and have been skeptical of the DT vinyl. I did buy the faux leather but not for my cricut. I also purchased one roll of iron on. We'll see. The tools are a no brainer. MOD Podge is correct. It drives me crazy when people pronounce it “MODGE Podge. I want to say, “read it people!”😂 Another thing is Aleene’s. I used to watch her show whenever it was on TV, and was able to visit the studio as a guest intro person. It is pronounced “UH-Leene. Thanks for your videos. Very informative and love them!!!

mod pog and tacky glue are two different things, are they not? Tacky glue just glues mostly paper and mod pog is a glue and a finishing film, that gets brushed on top, decoupaging, right?

@Design Bundles Crystal, if you ever try the dollar tree vinyl again, use the washi setting. It's still not the best vinyl in the world by far, but the washi setting does work a whole lot better. Is the dollar tree vinyl does stick to glass and glassware better than anything. It does NOT stick to wood!

I got the blue one that is the only one I can find at out dollar tree but honestly it only works like one or 2 times then it no good for anything after and you can clean then because they don’t get there stick back

The vinyl works with larger, simple designs that are not detailed...washi setting. I still think the other vinyls are better.

I’m so sad, I just went to three Dollar Tree stores, none had the signs with the wooden beads. I found them in their website but it requires it to be bought in an assortment case of 48. I definitely don’t need 48 at a time.

I made the same mistake of buying the vinyl at Dollar Tree..... hated it!!! I had bought one of each color they had. I was so excited. Threw it all in the trash! 🙄
