it's eery. all these ancient uniforms until 1:17, they all have been used by Prussia. then comes a more modern version and it looks almost like a Reichswehr officer (except the rank insignia). and then from 2:04 onwards we have old Prussians again complete with Ulans. yet the music seems superimposed.

At the end of the war, President Domingo Santa María considered that the army was not professional enough and he hired the Prussian officer Emil Körner to reorganize it and from 1885 the Chilean Army adopted the Prussian style.
I find it interesting how so many ignorant people associate the goose-step march with the Nazis alone. Goose-stepping was probably introduced around the reign of Frederick the Great (though it was possibly used before). The point to the goose-step is that it makes it easier for troops to stay in line by creating a more standardized stride. Anyone who has ever had to instruct drill and lost their mind over the 'ripple' in a rank knows what I am talking about. When normal people walk, the slightest differences in leg length and stride can make a big difference and cause this ripple. The goose-step helps to reduce the impact of different leg lengths and also standardize stride (there's only so many ways you can physically goose-step). Thus it became popular with many militaries, especially ceremonial units because it presented a neater, more uniform appearance on parade. You still see the goose-step in many other militaries with Prussian roots, such as the Russians and, by indirect descendant, other former Soviet militaries. It's not as common in militaries that were not heavily influenced or were rivals of the Prussians such as France, the United Kingdom and the United States. However, the goose-step existed long before the Nazis and, like many things associated with Nazi Germany, was really just stolen from history by the Nazis. This is really what the Nazis were good at: stealing history and coopting it as their own.

Apparently they use the march handbooks of 1910 and 1906. Chile on the other hand is using only a few marches and apart from the Pickelhaube and Goosestepping there’s nothing Prussian here. The German military is still the most Prussian... The thing is that the band is even goosestepping which was (by Prussian rules) totally forbidden because they’re considered light infantry... The Bundeswehr Musikkorps would love to use the Pickelhaube but they were banned by the Brits because they were “a sign of Imperialism.”...ironic...

During the Guerra del Pacífico (1879-1881) against Peru and Bolivia (that Chile won), the Chilean army followed the French style. At the end of the war, President Domingo Santa María considered that the army was not professional enough and he hired the Prussian officer Emil Körner to reorganize it and from 1885 the Chilean Army adopted the Prussian style.

I find it interesting how so many ignorant people associate the goose-step march with the Nazis alone. Goose-stepping was probably introduced around the reign of Frederick the Great (though it was possibly used before). The point to the goose-step is that it makes it easier for troops to stay in line by creating a more standardized stride. Anyone who has ever had to instruct drill and lost their mind over the 'ripple' in a rank knows what I am talking about. When normal people walk, the slightest differences in leg length and stride can make a big difference and cause this ripple. The goose-step helps to reduce the impact of different leg lengths and also standardize stride (there's only so many ways you can physically goose-step). Thus it became popular with many militaries, especially ceremonial units because it presented a neater, more uniform appearance on parade.
You still see the goose-step in many other militaries with Prussian roots, such as the Russians and, by indirect descendant, other former Soviet militaries. It's not as common in militaries that were not heavily influenced or were rivals of the Prussians such as France, the United Kingdom and the United States. However, the goose-step existed long before the Nazis and, like many things associated with Nazi Germany, was really just stolen from history by the Nazis. This is really what the Nazis were good at: stealing history and coopting it as their own.
Eso de la zancada tiene mucha lógica, porque al marchar el compás se escucha muy fuerte la patada en el piso lo que ayuda a que todos lleven el mismo compás, además se ve muy marcial por decir imponente, disuasivo y varonil. Lo de la ondulación lo he visto en argentina por el tipo de marcha a demás que a una distancia el sonido tiene un desfase.

Apparently they use the march handbooks of 1910 and 1906. Chile on the other hand is using only a few marches and apart from the Pickelhaube and Goosestepping there’s nothing Prussian here. The German military is still the most Prussian... The thing is that the band is even goosestepping which was (by Prussian rules) totally forbidden because they’re considered light infantry...
The Bundeswehr Musikkorps would love to use the Pickelhaube but they were banned by the Brits because they were “a sign of Imperialism.”...ironic...
