I just got some manga today and while I was putting them on my shelve I noticed that the outer side of the pages of a Tokyo Ghoul volume I bought around 2 years ago became yellow. I don't really know what caused it to yellow because there isn't any direct sunlight shining on it (only indirect). Maybe it's because I live in a small apartment with my family and the kitchen is pretty close to my room, so whenever my parents cook strong smells can easily reach my room. It doesn't help that my parents are Asian and often use strong herbs etc. while cooking. But then again, I'm not sure if this is actually related to or can cause yellowing. And I heard that humidity can start yellowing? If that's true then I'm fked, because the humidity level is always around 80-90% where I live. Anyways, thank you so much for this video. I will definitely try this trick out!

    • @TheMangaSloth

Better from the spine to the edges or towards the hand. You are messing up the spine integrity.

@@TheMangaSloth I am very familiar with sandpaper grit, I do woodworking as diy plus lately work at home cleaning comics. Just saying from what the video clearly shows. But in the end, they are your books. Good day. 👍🏻

@@JoeyRam. Thats awesome! I also do wood working its one of my fav things to do so its cool you like it also! I 100% get what your saying but im just giving a janky spitball way to remove yellowing. I personally dont do it to ANY of my books no matter how yellow (thats why I used janky copies I didint need lol). Cleaning comics seems like a much more labor intensive and more important thing than for what im doing so thats cool!

@MasterPain7 The book spine is its left side, the edges are the opposite side, where the book opens. If you decide to do like in this video, start from the left towards the edges, one direction...not back and forward. Otherwise the corner of the spine will show wear, damaging the books integrity. Hope is clear now. 👍🏻

True and as you saw in video I had 2 vol 26 haha so I did. But not everyone can re buy something. If your car gets dinged up but it still works just fine do you just re buy a new one every time? Or just try to fix it haha

@@TheMangaSloth the car example is a bit much. But for something cheaper like manga, it might be worth doing this sanding restoration thing. But you’re gonna want to get a new copy eventually since this is just delaying the inevitable.

@@xxnike0629xx Well maybe but if you dont have money to this works. Plus if you buy a used library edition ect this works well if you dont have 100 bucks to spend on a mint oos version. But all manga will turn yellow and get worse eventually but I dont have money to replace 1500+ volumes in the future lol
