The water logged forest biome is a good choice but near Moon Quay or barnacles could be good as well. Bonus challenge: Kill Crab King

I've been playing Island Adventures ever since the video dropped, and Wanda is insanely fun in it! Also they updated both crafting recipes and included new lines for DST exclusive characters for Shipwrecked items.
My favorite part about shipwrecked is monsoon season cause it gives a whole point towards otherwise useless items. Like wooden floring and walls to prevent floods its such a cool fucking mechanic and i love it
If mods are on the table, then hear me out: Uncompromising Mode. Great mod, provides a lot of new challenges to the game, like rebalances to characters, food, mobs, and especially bosses. Bee Queen and Crab King in particular are way better than their vanilla counterparts. Also worth noting there's even new bosses and a new biome, being the Hooded Forest. Would heavily recommend checking it out.
living on the slot machine island might work if you get lucky and get flowers early. Then you just eat butterflies. There is a special backpack that gives you 1 coin every day, so that might work. Sanity issues can probably be ignored by playing walter
Keep in mind that the monkeys only give you stuff when playing as Wilbur, otherwise they will harass you and steal anything they can get their hands on, unless befriended with bananas
With the Magma Piles, if you don't dig them up _fully,_ they'll actually regenerate over time! This gives you a renewable, reliable source of gold and gems.

I ended up building a cobblestone path that led through the field, and just going back there every once in a while to dig up the piles. Even the normal magma piles can sometimes drop gems, so they can be worth keeping around, too. Not to mention Nitre for an Endothermic Firepit during Dry Season.

I think Wendy is really good in shipwrecked. She can deal with all the mobs the slot machine spawns using abigail, and can kill the whales from ocean hunts using abigail. A lot of mobs are quite low health in shipwrecked so abigail is just pretty good
Yeah! As you could see in the screenshot when people bullied me about my snakeskin flooring, i was playing Wendy :) How else could I of gotten that much snakeskin for my rug? :D
Now im more of a hamlet person but i do love shipwrecked. Kinda spoiley tips next Jellyfish are stupidity good, get a spear and that can last you forever, they heal a ton even if you lack thuder proof stuff. And get snake skinn stuff, the hat and shirt is amazing. And get a cloth sail it's worth it. Unless it got changed a smaller island is good, because you can cover it all in MAN MADE terf and then rain puddles don't spawn.
you pointed it out yourself, but yeah: slot machine island is a terrible idea as a main base. the small size makes it comparably easy to make a full belt of sandbags around it, but it's just too small to fit all the plants you need too, and has nothing to offer in ressources to begin with (aside from that cursed slotmachine). the volcano is of course worthy of a potential challenge video, although i'm not sure you can survive there in dry season/summer (way too hot iirc). in general large islands that have multiple biomes (jungle, beach, rocky) are the best in my experience. for hurricane season lightning rods are a must, as well as storage for light items and some rain protection (snake skin is great for this). for monsoon season you want a proper belt of sandbags around your base to prevent flooding, which will require quite a lot of sand and cloth. lastly dry season has no wildfires, but overheating is still an issue. also make sure to either calm the volcano, or be prepared to evactuate the main island at a moments notice. i highly suggest the former. that all said, i know shipwrecked only from the single player version, but from what i've seen things are pretty much the same. cheers
Also- tip whenever i want to play shipwrecked if you don't prep for monsoon season ahead of time you will get screwed cause you will need a lot of cloth from bamboo and sand for sandbags to prevent floods and wood to stop floods from spawning on your base

Honestly I dislike both parties of the moon and the shadows outside from the perspective of the game. From the fault of Maxwell messing with the dark forces, they caused one of the strongest earth quakes in the United States. Im pretty sure the moon would have affected our world the same way. Probably from a piece of our moon falling to the earth. Edit: 24:22 great now I won't see the ballfin palace the same way again, thank you
For 25:20, not sure if anyone else said it... but if my memory serves me right, yes, you should be able to use a torch while stationary BUT if you just moved, you need to unequip and equip the torch again. Don't think the characters pulled out their items just by themselves for whatever reason
As someone with no friends who plays single player, I agree that shipwrecked is so cool and it saddens me that it feels like the entire don't starve modding community switched to dst 😢😢
Protip for anyone playing IA or SW: If you chase a Crabbit a short distance and then leave it alone for a second, it'll stand still and do an animation where it leans and stares at you. If won't run away during this animation, you can just walk up and chop it.
Fun fact if you feed the Dolphinsa fish or fish morsel you can be friend them and they have an AOE that restores your sanity. Cuddle up to them and you sanity will sky rocket! They will also follow you for a day and fight for you! It's like Glommer but without the goop!
i havnt played Shipwrecked since they made it a bit more fair. I played it a lot when it came out but kinda rage quit because the Volcano "season" was flipping impossible. If it started while you were at base, byebye base, and unlike the Summer in normal Dont Starve there wasnt a building to negate the danger.
maybe you can take a page out of orange's book and do a run on a shipwrecked world where everything is set to none, and all seasons to very short, the nothing world
Some random idea i just got : Don't starve together , but you can only use Tumbleweeds Rules : -nothing world , except you can turn on the spawning of normal ressourses near the portal -tumbleweeds turned to normal or lots -i think there are no more rules have fun!
