Juneteenth 2020

June 19th, 2020 - Milwaukee Residents gathered on the corner of Martin Luther King Drive and Locust to Celebrate the date of June 19, 1865 also known as #Juneteenth, in which all slaves in Texas were proclaimed free. A mural of Black Lives Matter #BLM was a painted to speak to the police brutality that African-Americans have been faced with. The mural is in the heart of the Harambe Community in Milwaukee's Northside. Harambre is a Kenyan tradition of community self-help events, fundraising or development activities. Harambee literally means "all pull together" in Swahili, and is also the official motto of Kenya and appears on its coat of arms.
Juneteenth also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, Liberation Day, and Emancipation Day - is a holiday celebrating the emancipation of those who had been enslaved in the United States. Originating in Texas, it is now celebrated annually on the 19th of June throughout the United States, with varying official recognition. Specifically, it commemorates Union army general Gordon Granger announcing federal orders in Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865, proclaiming that all slaves in Texas were free.

This film was shot on the Panasonic GH5 with the Panasonic Lumix 12-35mm f2.8 (Version 1). All footage was filmed in 1080P All-I 422 High Definition (HD) at 60 and 24 frames per second (fps). The final footage was edited, color corrected and graded in Adobe Premiere Pro CC. The final music track was composed and produced by OneOrbit in Logic Pro X.
