They had such staggering innocence and dorky personalities that's hard to come by with people of their success and you can see it a lot in this. I love it!
You have an odd take on this interview. What most saw was Krist being unable to be serious for 6 minutes straight, acting like a complete jackass with stupid meaningless responses to every reasonable question asked, and sucking all the oxygen out of the interview. Usually, Kurt and Dave just appear to tolerate it. But this time was particularly bad, and even got head shakes and eye rolls from Kurt. Why does Krist always feel the need to act like a clown during every interview and fuck it up. The best interviews are always when Krist wasn't there to hijack it and turn it all into silly nonsense. Truthfully, he's not even funny. He just thinks he is with all the pot smoking and drinking he was doing.
Krist is hilarious. He was making everyone laugh! I was hysterical watching this. I never knew he was this funny! Dave is, too but he gets shy. Kurt is serious and reserved but you can tell he was close with Krist because Krist makes him laugh often here and Kurt seems comfortable and genuine in his interactions with Krist. That’s what made Nirvana so cool! I never heard any of them bad mouth each other. They played tight, stuck together and the short time they lasted, made a huge impact! They did on me! I just found out recently that about sometime during the last week of Kurts life, him and Krist ended up physically fighting for the first time after refusing to drop him off near his dealers house and instead drove him straight to the airport, where they both pretty much started beating the shit out of each other and Kurt ran off saying “Fuck you!” and that’s the last thing Kurt ever said to Krist. It’s so sad hearing that they ended on those terms after seeing them like brothers in this interview and all others :(
The narrative you are speaking of is under speculation. Yes, it makes sense. This tale is only told in one or two places, and it usually ends with: "Krist telling Shelli that night that he knew in his heart that he would never see Kurt alive again." There was a time I believed that. Fast forward. There is a guy on yt, someone who was there, and knew the people involved. You might know who I'm referring to. He saw Krist on April 5, 1994. He asked Krist about Kurt. Krist's reply was "Don't believe everything you're hearing in the press. Kurt is fine." I wish upon wishes that Krist would put the truth out there, but unfortunately, it doesn't seem likely.
We had the image and the name, all we needed were the songs LOL what a smart line. He's clearly making fun of media caring about superficial stuff like a band's name rather than music and art.
