Fantastic tutorial, and easy to follow too. It helped me to design a hiking trail for a signage in my city, and then exported them to Illustrator, many thanks for your help!
Thx for the tutorial! While watching your first step I came up with a more simple but less elegant solution for the second step: I just made a second contour with a larger interval, thicker lines and labels.
Awesome video! I am using Reality Capture to make 3d models and DTM from my drone. That side works great.. I had problems with creating contour maps but this really cleared it up!... Thanks!
If using 2' contours, and you want to create 10' index intervals, would the expression be- if("ELEVATION"%10=0, 1, NULL) ? Thank you for you videos and work.
Nice tutorial but sadly it didn't work for me. All I got was the '100' line bolded.. no idea why. I then tried to learn how to use the AND operator (from a QGIS forum), but that didn't improve things.. any tips?
Thank you for your video. I am trying to generate isocontours to specific elevation values (e.g., 100m or from 100m to 1000m with 100 m interval). How can I define the min and maximum values to generate the isolines? TIA
@@geospatialschool thank you. It is a shame they removed the option of select the itnerval and range and I hope they put it back in the next version...
Thank you, very useful. Can the file including the the labels of the 100m marks be exported to Google Earth?. Somehow labels are not exported when I try, If someone can help I appreciate.
Can we have a way to extract all Hills as points from a DEM File. I mean to say that i want to extract Centroid of all Highest Contours(representing Hill Tops).. Thank you so much
I am having trouble using symbology by rule to identify peaks. Seems like the small length or lack of a higher valid integer contour line at peaks could be used with python. Maybe even the contour ID could be utilized. So far I have this but isn't what I want "elev" >= 500 AND length
Nice video , very helpful. I am trying to make a contour map using QGiS. The map contains a lot of trees and grass , so when I do the contour processing the output is very bad and confusing. Can you guide me through it?
I'm not sure how you are making a contour map of trees and grass. Generally contours are used for topography. If you need help on a specific task please use my business contact so we can discuss a contract.
Select by Pressing Down the Shift key and while holding shift down key select the layers and then click export. After selecting layers they should be highlighted blue and stay that way.Hope it helps
really thank you so much for this video i learned a lot and it's been a while i am searching for that i just have a question please, how can i keep like what you have elevation lines straight in low levels enclaves, i tries to simplify lines but not enough , i hope u answer my question if you understand what i mean
i know im asking randomly but does someone know a way to get back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid forgot the login password. I appreciate any tips you can give me.
@Cameron Jacob I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im in the hacking process now. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Cameron Jacob WTF IT REALLY WORKED! Just hacked my IG login within ~ 45 mins of using the site. Just had to pay 15 $ but for sure worth the money :) Thanks so much, you really help me out !
pls first tell us that how did u develop this DEM before contouring. I have successfully did geo-referencing and now want to do DEM and after that contouring withe the help of DEM. pls guide me
Thanks for the videos. QGIS looks interesting. I was curious if there is a way to export clean vector contours out of QGIS into popular vector editing programs like Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw? I want to use these lines in some future artwork pieces I'm working on.
This is a GREAT video! Thanks! Any idea why my topo lines appear directly above my heightmap, not 'over' it (or on top, as in your example)? I'm using a height map from a game engine terrain rather than 'real', if that makes a difference. I'm not sure how to get them aligned. Any ideas? Thanks again!
Open Source Options thanks for your reply. The lines in yours are drawn directly over the height map, as you’d want. But, in mine, they are actually flipped (mirrored vertically) and shifted up. Ie my map is 4096x4096, and so my topo lines are shifted exactly 4096 pixels in y, and mirrored. If this were photoshop, I’d just drag the topo lines down 4096 pixels and transform flip them and call it a day! But in qgis ... not sure what the issue is or how to fix it. :-/
I see. Not sure what the problem could be without seeing the data, but I'd guess something with the projection/CRS. If the end product you want is an image, then you can export the contours as a PNG and make the edit in photoshop.
thanks for your videos sir n the explanation its quite clear , may i know how to made geograpich ( DMS, or (east "E", West "W", North "N", South "S") label grid in layout (at 'draw coordinates' dialog box). _sorry for my bad english_

Great video! It would be great to see a tutorial on how to use the DEM to draw transects and label those with the slope.
Straightforward and well explained! Thank you so much!

Not quite what I needed, but obliquely helpful nonetheless. Thanks for taking the time to post these instructions.

Hello Dr. thank so much for your sharded. if i have contour Elevation from 16 to 26 meter. so how can i create label index?
Great video, I’m using this for compiling drone data contours onto the orthomosaic output. What a powerful tool.

How are the ID applied to the contour lines? Is there a method that we could take advantage of?
Hi Quick question is it possible to create a 3D contour map, that can be exported as a .dxf to import into CAD?
I'm not super familiar with CAD, but all the 3D data is there so it should be possible.

From QGIS you can just right click on the layer go to Export (or maybe Save As) and sav it as a kmz/kml
