I played this game religiously around 1997-1998 and didn't have the the slightest clue how music could possibly make my heart feel broken. A good 20 or so years later, i recall the notes at 1:42 at this song and feel a sadness I never could have imagined as a child. I didn't even notice the music as a kid, but as an adult, I love the second zone music for its chilling ambience. Gothica, however, has a power over me that I cannot explain. My only theory is that Jeremy Soule is not human but is some type of fae that delights in wounding the hearts of men.
I love standing by the fireplace in the room and just listening to this. It gives the vibes of "Rest, dear traveler. You're safe here."
