  • After finding out my 4d55t had low compression I rebuilt it and slapped it back in the car. Turns out i did a pretty okay job at it, and now it runs.

An intercooler would make a noticeable difference. Hack up some exhaust tubing and get some silicone connectors and use some random intercooler behind the front skid plate or wherever. Nice job!

Love the Raider. Have a 87’ and it’s sick. My RPMs get kinda high sometimes, so I wish it was a 6-speed.

Same at like 60 - 65 it is at 3000 rpm

Awesome video, good job! I never knew what lapping the valves meant until this video. Simple to understand and informative information on the procedure.
Nice see detail work on the motor. Like the gold valve cover.
I had to laugh a little when you said Ive got to figure out how to remove the motor. I thought you had removed the old motor and installed this one.

Thanks for watching! glad you learned something new. And yes i did have to remove the old stock engine to put this in. But if i remember correctly I had a huge fuss putting it in because of where i hooked my chains on the engine. So i needed to find a better more suitable place to hook the chains hahaha.

Glad to see it finally running! How well do the five speeds holdup with that power

I think the trans will last forever with this amount of power 🤣. This car has 205k miles on it and the trans feels super tight and smooth so i dont think it will be a problem.

    1987 raider,
Engine swap to 4.3 chevrolet automatic
    Input ?
    Engine mounts ?

      @evansautomotive307  ปีที่แล้ว

Thats a good swap. You'll probably have to make your own cystom mounts though. Take a look at my ls swap videos if you want to get an idea on the mounts

Do you know if the 3.0 V6 and the inline 4 have the same motor mounts and transmission mounts?

I just drove a ram 50 with a 4D55T and it was awesome!! I was going to buy it but the engine was pretty tired and built pressure in the cooling system.

Thirty-plus year old vehicles needing work? What?! New injectors and fixing the lines will make a huge difference I bet!

Yeah maybe i should buy something newer 🤣. I am really liking the way this has turned out though. I got the exhaust all welded up today and it actually sounds like a normal small diesel. Granted, you can barely hear the turbo, but its not obnoxious anymore 🤣

Frank! Just saw this series yesterday so I'm late. Wish You Tube was around back in the 4x4Wire days. Would've saved a lot of time and effort.
