I was surprised to figure out the bone conducting headset didn’t make covert sneakers audible, in past cod games there usually was a perk that boosted footstep noise and countered dead silence a little, people using dead silence were audible but at lower volumes than normal footsteps if you used the counter perk, and that’s how it should work here
while using the covert sneakers opposing players using bone conduction headset should be able to slightly hear their footsteps at the same range as base footstep sound... and the counter to the bone conduction headset should be dead silence in which the headset should then not be able to hear ANY movements from the opposing player
i honestly thought i was having sound issues whenever i used covert sneakers because i don't even pickup my own footsteps. Now i realize that everybody is using covert sneakers and it just feels like footstep sound just shouldn't be apart of the game anymore. even when you have amazing headphones i can't heay my own or other peoples footsteps because they too are using the sneakers. it needs to be nerfed big time, or sound needs to be fixed. it feels like i am missing half the game audio sometimes.
All you need to know about how overpowered completely silent footsteps are is that in the original MW2, the ONLY other perk in the same category that saw any play was the much-hated Commando perk, which gave you a 15 foot one hit kill knife range.

Dead silence perk doesn't need a nerf its rather the bone headset which eneds a buff to allow it to completely hear dead silence users which allows the counter play.
as long as they have to sacrifice other crutch perks its fine, that's how og mw2 and mw3 were with amplify and setrip perks. dead silence/ninja in current state has 0 counters unlike other perks which have counters in the game.@@Spiderinjuly

Bone conduction definitely should be an actual counter and amplify covert sneakers. Maybe not to normal levels, but maybe like 60% normal footstep volume. It's insane to have silent footsteps with no counter, and the old CODs never did this They always had a direct counter

I feel like Bone Conducting Headset should cancel out Covert Sneakers, so then they just sound normal. That would make the 2 items counter each other, but not be too overpowered. Then the aggressive players could use Covert Sneakers, and Campers the Bone Conducting Headset putting them on an even field.
Nah the bone conducting headset should be able to hear covert sneakers but at a lesser volume like 40-50% quieter than normal running like the older cods did
Crouch walk should be silent or near silent regardless of the sneakers and the sneakers should only be silent when running, not tac sprinting... Not sliding and not climbing. The sneakers are so busted.
To further expand on this... The climbing boots should be the ones silent when mantling and climbing, the ones to slide should be ones that are quiet when sliding.... I dunno wtf they were thinking by making these sneakers so strong that it's basically a no brainer to use...
Bone conduction headset was based on ‘awareness’ perk, but it doesnt cancel covert sneaker audio like awareness perk did to ninja, which makes no sense, it would give dead silence ability a use if this was changed imo
I always use the sneakers because the campers can hear my footsteps and turn on me just in a nick of time. But after I got the sneakers on things turned upside down.
i agree, it is wayy too strong. i think a deafened slide sound needs added, as well as ladders and mantling. and with bone cond headset it should make as much noise as crouch walking in normal setup.
I agree they are extremely powerful, but I feel like I’m only using them on maps with lots of metal and watery pathways, or lots of close-quarter opportunities. Most of the larger maps with long sightlines make it negligible, as they are more likely to see you than hear you.
Fair point, but even on the maps with longer sight lines the covert sneakers are still the best boots when compared to the rest, a 10% strafe improvement or a 10% mantling improvement will rarely save your life, but silently outflanking a nearby enemy will always give you a huge advantage.

Also the bone conduction headset seem to let you hear the covert sneaker user, but it wasn’t the footwear audio that you hear, it was their gear moving around
I think that’s just going to make the situation even worse. Everyone is already using the sneakers, reducing the base audio will just make the very few people not running them quieter too. We’re already basically at the point that everyone is pretty much completely silent at all times, it’s creating this gameplay loop where if you aren’t looking in the direction of the next enemy, you pretty much can never win because there’s no audio cues at all that there’s a guy behind you, ever.

you can't hear footsteps, but I don't have a problem listening to the equipment moving, covert can be counted with Bone Conduction I can still hear their equipment.
I do think it needs to be nerfed. I also think the Bone Conduction Headset should be buffed specifically against Covert Sneakers so they more or less cancel each other out.
Could you test the Signal Jammer and see how it actually works? It claims that it disrupts claymore / mine. I’m wondering whether it delays their detonation or simply does not trigger them. Thank you!
It completely nullifies trip mines and claymores! It’s amazing for rushing with the stealth boots lol. No need for the bomb squad perk or whatever it is that limits explosive damage.

Unpopular opinion, covert sneakers need a nerf or bone conducter should be a soft counter. Theirs a difference between loud footsteps and absolute zero footsteps. Zero in my opinion is just way too much.
I play mainly search and the bone conduction/covert sneaker are a must have combo. You have to really key in and listen for the operator’s equipment jingling around. You can even hear the high pitch sound dead silence makes on enemy players .A lot of times you’ll hear the player last second and you need to rely on reaction but that’s one of the best parts of cod to me.
Doesn’t need a nerf, The other sneakers need buffs instead or they need to make the base footstep audio quieter so you don’t need covert sneakers unless you’re within 8-10 meters of an enemy player

The very first game I played after unlocking and equipping the covert sneakers, every single player in the lobby had them. This was after I had yet to run into them for at least 20-30 levels of gameplay. I'm here watching this video because I initially thought the covert sneakers eliminated ALL footstep audio both for the player and also for the players enemies. After confirming this is not the case it seems like SBMM also takes into account what items you have equipped.
Interesting, it's probably a coincidence how that worked out, but in any lobby with above 1 KD players virtually everyone is using the covert sneakers, if you don't use them and you move around you're dead. They either need to nerf the sneakers ASAP or reduce the default footstep volume significantly.
Na back in the day everything basically had hard counters of some sort. The devs don’t even care anymore, cause bone conductor/aka old awareness perk was a hard counter to dead silence. Now they either cant even design games that make sense lol!
I think covert sneakers are fine, it's just others being too weak. Lemme fix them -sprint sneakers: double tac sprint duration, shorten recovery time by half, be able to fire your gun while tac sprinting and normal sprinting (no more sprint to fire time) -strafe boots: double strafe speed, and hard lock minimum strafe speed at 5m/s -that fall dmg boots: competely eliminate fall dmg, and make you able to unlimitedly bunny hop, also double jump height and speed -swimming boots (paddles?): double movement speed in water
I think it could be nerfed a little bit, but I'd say buffing the other options would be a better idea. Stalker boots for example are super weak and if they got a substantial increase to the strafe speed I'd for sure say it's a viable competitor.
Bone conduction headset should have absolutely canceled out covert sneakers. But of course the youtubers would have cried about it for the next year. How dare there be a play-style to counter hyper aggressive play.
Covert movement can be silent, but running should at least have 10-20% of the normal sounds loudness. Specially as there is no counter perk. It’s unplayable now,
Is it much different than dead silence? I dont use headphone to listen to foot steps so I think it balances it out for me Also I dont play with silencers, only on rare occasions when I have a gun with a lot of recoil.
im level 47 and got the sneakers but they are still not quite. they are just as loud as before i got them. there is no way to put them on so i guess they come on right when you unlock it
I would argue situational awareness and game sense is the counter. I feel like people have gotten too comfortable with footstep audio giving people away. If deadly silence gets a nerf, I believe that the overall audio of footsteps should be reduced.
Ghost disables when you stop moving, covert sneakers may have a bug but it hard to tell i had a similar issue, and i dont know about bone i dont use it
Now the whole lobby is dead silence 😂. No other perks are used, no variety. Heck, I don’t wear my headset anymore 😂. Whoever suggested this perk is now looking dumb. Super dumb.
Agreed, I think the best possible fix at this point would be to reduce the default footstep audio to near-zero. This would be the easiest way to balance out the boot category and put everyone on an even playing field.

Only Xclusive Ace begged for it back, he made a mistake. It would be ok with quieter footsteps but completely silent breaks the game, and removes an awareness element.

And all the streamers who are bragging about their nukes on shipment definitely weren't using covert. Having said that, I use covert sheos on almost all my glasses but I actually need to use it to get the jump on people because I am trash.
This game is nigh unplayable for flank/stealth playstyle without covert sneakers and ghost. I hate grinding for it but I know once I have it I'm gonna be really abusing it lol

Why would you want to rely on audio rather than map awareness and skill? Best thing they have done in years is bring these sneakers in. Years ago DS was always a perk. It’s only the recent games that it hasn’t been and people rely on camping and listening which is sickening. S&D is back to its full glory at the pinnacle of call of duty at last.
There's a difference between relying on sound, and unrealistically eliminating it altogether. At no point would u ever hear ZERO footsteps, shits stupid af. It's a problem in general, not just camping...it takes away all situational awareness to the point that if ur not looking right at a player then someone can just tac sprint right into ur asshole. In every lobby, its 90% of players using it...essentially turning the game into a mindless arcade shooter. Only people happy about this r trash players who cant check corners, cant read the map, cant adapt to situations, and cant outshoot camp spots. Can you test ghost? I've been experiencing situations where enemies are just looking at me while flanking.
If you stop moving you show up on radar again, if you strafe side to side theres a pause in between the movement so u show up on radar again

I dont think the covert sneakers need a neef. But the conduction headset should be buffed. Or something to counter the shoes
The very first game I played after unlocking and equipping the covert sneakers, every single player in the lobby had them. This was after I had yet to run into them for at least 20-30 levels of gameplay. I'm here watching this video because I initially thought the covert sneakers eliminated ALL footstep audio both for the player and also for the players enemies. After confirming this is not the case it seems like SBMM also takes into account what items you have equipped.
Interesting, it's probably a coincidence how that worked out, but in any lobby with above 1 KD players virtually everyone is using the covert sneakers, if you don't use them and you move around you're dead. They either need to nerf the sneakers ASAP or reduce the default footstep volume significantly.
Na back in the day everything basically had hard counters of some sort. The devs don’t even care anymore, cause bone conductor/aka old awareness perk was a hard counter to dead silence. Now they either cant even design games that make sense lol!
bone conducter is a very light counter unless you put on headsets
I think covert sneakers are fine, it's just others being too weak. Lemme fix them
-sprint sneakers: double tac sprint duration, shorten recovery time by half, be able to fire your gun while tac sprinting and normal sprinting (no more sprint to fire time)
-strafe boots: double strafe speed, and hard lock minimum strafe speed at 5m/s
-that fall dmg boots: competely eliminate fall dmg, and make you able to unlimitedly bunny hop, also double jump height and speed
-swimming boots (paddles?): double movement speed in water
I think it could be nerfed a little bit, but I'd say buffing the other options would be a better idea. Stalker boots for example are super weak and if they got a substantial increase to the strafe speed I'd for sure say it's a viable competitor.
Bone conduction headset should have absolutely canceled out covert sneakers. But of course the youtubers would have cried about it for the next year. How dare there be a play-style to counter hyper aggressive play.

Covert movement can be silent, but running should at least have 10-20% of the normal sounds loudness. Specially as there is no counter perk. It’s unplayable now,

Is it much different than dead silence? I dont use headphone to listen to foot steps so I think it balances it out for me

im level 47 and got the sneakers but they are still not quite. they are just as loud as before i got them. there is no way to put them on so i guess they come on right when you unlock it
There is a downside. You cannot use the vest that gives you two main guns and use the covert sneakers.

I would argue situational awareness and game sense is the counter. I feel like people have gotten too comfortable with footstep audio giving people away.
If deadly silence gets a nerf, I believe that the overall audio of footsteps should be reduced.

Ghost disables when you stop moving, covert sneakers may have a bug but it hard to tell i had a similar issue, and i dont know about bone i dont use it

Agreed, I think the best possible fix at this point would be to reduce the default footstep audio to near-zero. This would be the easiest way to balance out the boot category and put everyone on an even playing field.
@@FavstaRGaming good idea. How about counters! High alert is countered by cold blooded, the covert sneakers should be countered by the head conductor i.e. the head conductor should make the footstep a tat audible.

Your trippin lol, the character still makes 'enemy spotted' callouts but the player stays quiet during reloads regardless of the sneakers
All the top players don't use the covert sneakers usually so i think its fine.
Not sure who you've been watching but literally every top player uses the covert sneakers.

And all the streamers who are bragging about their nukes on shipment definitely weren't using covert.
Having said that, I use covert sheos on almost all my glasses but I actually need to use it to get the jump on people because I am trash.

Why would you want to rely on audio rather than map awareness and skill? Best thing they have done in years is bring these sneakers in. Years ago DS was always a perk. It’s only the recent games that it hasn’t been and people rely on camping and listening which is sickening. S&D is back to its full glory at the pinnacle of call of duty at last.
There's a difference between relying on sound, and unrealistically eliminating it altogether. At no point would u ever hear ZERO footsteps, shits stupid af. It's a problem in general, not just camping...it takes away all situational awareness to the point that if ur not looking right at a player then someone can just tac sprint right into ur asshole. In every lobby, its 90% of players using it...essentially turning the game into a mindless arcade shooter. Imagine playing this game and hearing zero gunshot noise, like cant even hear a gunshot 2 feet from u, or better yet, let's just put the game on mute, woupd that be enjoyable? Footsteps weren't a problem because I was AWARE of the noise I made when I tac sprinted or ran in general. I didn't spend the entire match running around like a moron, constantly sliding and swapping weapons like these garbage ass sweats try hard, then get shot in the face and cry about people soundwhoring.
Checking corners, checking my back isn't the issue here. Gameplay gimmicks needed by the community to get some kills speaks volumes on the community itself. Audio is part of shooter games. Footstep audio has been a basic standard in pretty kuch ANY shooter game for quite a few years now. The need to remove it to play better because someone is literally that dense and shit at a game? Is pretty fucking sad.
