      @@courage552 It really annoyed me cause Dragonball FighterZ(This was kind of my first fighting game that wasn't a button masher) never teaches you about overhead attacks yet this game did. So I'm constantly getting my ass kicked wondering how people are getting through my crouched blocks. I don't see why they left something out as important as that since both are made by the same developer.

      @@thechugg4372 The game literally has an entire mission mode that contains those exact things.

    • @thechugg4372
      @thechugg4372 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@solomon9655 The mission mode is sometimes very good, and other times complete garbage. It usually does not tell you how you're supposed to do the actual mission. But this is the point of view of a beginner player, the base tutorial is way too hard, and the missions don't tell you how you should solve them.

    • @aetherialpaff
      @aetherialpaff 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@thechugg4372 They have inputs and explanations for everything on each mission. I do believe you wish to have your hand held on each mission because it sounds like you can't do anything. They literally explain how to do every single thing on the missions, what do you mean they don't? They're difficult up to the point where they test to see if you're learning. If not, you can always try again. It's not the game's fault if you can't walk the path they set up for you.

    • @aetherialpaff
      @aetherialpaff 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Also, don't listen to this dude. The base tutorials are *not* that hard. It seems as if this guy is either terrible or didn't learn a single thing.

    Arc became really good at making tutorials ever since BlazBlue Continuum Shift. The first "proper" fighting game I played was Super Street Fighter IV, and its tutorial was terrible. It just showed you a bunch of directions on the screen and expected you to know what to do with them. Vega and Guile's movesets were impossible for me to understand. Heck, I couldn't even do a frigging Shoryuken because I was unable to make sense of the squiggle they used to display directional input. Luck was the only thing that made me pull off that move.
    And then when I played Continuum Shift's tutorial, they told me in plain english that all I had to do was go right, down, then down right before hitting the button. One frustrating directional input that's been plaguing me for a year was solved just like that. So as far as I'm concerned, you're in good hands if you play the tutorial on an Arc System Works game, and other developers should be taking notes and put a lot more effort into their tutorials.

    • @alexgeorge3068

      It's because of the anime look that ASW games have. It might sound crazy, but a *lot* of people are put off by the visuals. BlazBlue gets the most shit thrown at (which is a damn shame, the series is pretty good), Guilty Gear not as much, since it has quite the history and following. I'd say "to hell with them", but there are a lot more naysayers that I care to admit.

    Why do companies that are more niche do more for their fanbases, while bigger companies don't give a damn
    It makes more sense that those that don't give a damn have poor sales, and those that do have better sales

      Cause people who care are treated like pushovers while assholes get publicity

    • @DuranmanX
      @DuranmanX 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Crazy Diamond why does this stuff have to be niche is what I'm asking
      you could say the anime aesthetic, but that hasn't stopped other popular Japanese games here, like Persona 4 and Guilty Gear doesn't even sell that well in the Japan, so it's not just the West's problem
      you could also say it's because fighting games don't do as well, but that hasn't always been the case, with games like Tekken still having mainstream success for Sony
      and it's not too much competition, since there aren't too many fighting games like this releasing constantly like was the case in the 90s
      and it's not like graphics, which is originally what held back early SNK games and even games like KOFXIV, since this game is really beautiful and looks better than most anime-esque games out there
      and it's not like this is a new franchises, it's existed since 1998 on the PS1, and has been received very well by game reviewers

    • @DuranmanX
      @DuranmanX 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** didn't Persona 4 Arena do rather well, and doesn't Blazblue get more sales than Guilty Gear
      I also hear Skullkids is also rather popular, though I don't know if you could consider that anime

    • @DuranmanX
      @DuranmanX 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Crazy Diamond well this tutorial is meant to aid those you find fighting games difficult
      if everyone who finds this game difficult doesn't play the game, and everyone who doesn't find it difficult does buy the game, then ultimately this tutorial isn't for anyone, except maybe fighting game fans like Max that are willing to any fighting game within reason, and have more time to spend on games than the average person

    Wow, I just picked this game up based on this and your other video on it, your little mini gush convinced me. I have xrd, and really love the art style, and everything, but for whatever reason haven't spent much time with it. Being so new to the series (my only exposure, was to GG 2 a friend of mine rented once back on PS2), Xrd has been a bit overwhelming. With the ai dummies I've always had problems with the spacing and timing, but with this training mode, at least it looks like they give you a visual reference for proper spacing, and I like that. Thanks for the uploads.

      SIGN costs 30 on Steam right now, doesn't seem that bad of a deal, at least 'till Revelator comes out.

  • @DoneRandomLee

    that's such a good tutorial. It's good and I can see people who just never got what to do for fighting games through like challenges or just playing around in training mode. I can very much see this helping people out. Which is good. Means more can get into fighting games. I want more like this. Something simple enough for people who never played a fighting game to understand it.

    I wasn't sure whether or not to get onboard with this game, but now that I know it's got such a good tutorial system for fighting game noobs like me, it's a done deal. Good work Arc Systems! Now if only the guys over in Capcom could start to learn a thing or two from Arc, maybe we wouldn't have SFV in the shape it's in at the moment.

      There's a 2D beat 'em up MMO called Dungeon Fighter Online that takes inspiration from the Capcom D&D games and Guilty Gear. It's actually one of the most popular online games in Korea, Japan, and China, up there with League, WoW, and Hearthstone.

    As some say in education, skills are best developed within the context of how they are used, but also with immediate feedback when a misunderstanding is occurring so that a student doesn't run into situations where their prior knowledge from falsely-perceived satisfaction of goals prevents completely correct execution of the skill. This is why video games are considered a usable medium to teach, but, unsurprisingly, it's also fitting when a tutorial like this is used to gamify the process of learning a video game's own system of play.
